Lukaku and Valencia need dropping. As does Sanchez (yet again). But the alternatives aren't great.

    De Gea
    Dalot Bailly Smalling Shaw
    Fellaini Matic Pogba
    Mata Martial Rashford

We will probably win this one. Gut feeling. Then it will be back to "why we must back Mourinho" and "Steadying the ship" and "transition" threads

Mourinho has been really fortunate coming into these international breaks. The final match before the last one was against Burnley, who if you had to pick one Premiership at the time to play it would be them. Now, we play Newcastle before the next break, another side in freefall, & playing negatively. There will be no worries about being overrun as Newcastle will be even more defensive than us, having the Messiah as manager. This will be more like Jurassic park, with two has been dinosaurs battling it out from the sides, dreaming of their previous past when they were dominant. A bore feast, that no one will want to watch, & by the sound off can't sell the tickets for.

Lukaku is in a big slump and we need to try something different. I'd have Martial over Lukaku. All 3 could rotate across the front 3.

Had enough of these scrappy wins papering over the cracks and just prolonging the inevitable to be honest. I’m at the point now if we’re not winning this with the sense of purpose, I would take another hit as it would mean a step closer to getting the Jose out of the club. Thank you Ed Woodward for making me go this far you incompetent twat.

Wouldn't mind seeing Martial up front with Rashford on the left and Sanchez on the right and bring Lukaku on if nothing happens by 60 mins.

    Play Dalot and Fred

Would be ironic if Benitez is the one who ends it all but not even we are so shit to lose this one. We'll get a 2-0 win and the cultists will be back with their 'bAcK tHe MaNaGeR' shit.

Fitting stadium photo in the OP

I've decided to be super optimistic for this game and predict a 3-0 victory.

    ------------de Gea
    Dalot---Bailly--Smalling---Shaw
    -------Fred--Fellaini--Pogba
    Rashford-----------------Martial
    -------------Lukaku

With a very happy Alexis on the bench.

Fred-Pereira-Pogba midfield may inject a bit of urgency into our football.

    All faith has evaporated.

    DDG
Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Shaw (just a hunch about Jones, Valencia will never be dropped)
Matic, Fellaini, Pogba (same goes for Matic, shocking player but undroppable til Jose goes)
    Rashford, Lukaku, Martial

SUBS - Fred (Matic), Mata (Rashford), Sanchez (Martial)

    Man United 0 - 0 Newcastle

Let's get some stats on the board.

This is the number of goals we have scored in all our games in Sept 2018.
    0 Valencia
    1 West Ham
    2 Derby
    1 Wolves
    3 Young Boys
    2 Watford
    2 Burnley
    Total: 11
    Average: 1.57 goals/game

Given the above, I think we will score 1 or 2 goals.
I think a win is on the cards.
    Either 1-0 or 2-1.

Let's get some stats on the board.
Why not go for maximum effect?

    United 0 - 0 Valencia
    West Ham 3 -1 United
United 2 - 2 Derby loss on pens
    United 1 - 1 Wolves
    Young Boys 0 - 3 United
    Watford 1 - 2 United
    Burnley 0 -2 United
    United 0 - 3 Spurs
    Brighton 3 -2 United
    United 2 - 1 Leicester

    4 - 2 - 4

    1 home win
    3 home draws
    1 home loss

    3 away wins
    2 away losses

What's so worrying is the caliber of teams we're losing/drawing against. I won't put anything past New Castle getting a result this weekend.

Given the above, I think we'll do well to draw.

This won't be easy. Newcastle will sit right back and I have no faith in our attack to break them down. Plus if Newcastle score first the whole stadium will panic. It just feels like the sort of game that might end Mourinho.

As some have already said, the only attack in the league that woudn’t trouble our defence at the moment is our own attack. I have no faith in any area of our team whatsoever. Any fixture has the potential to be seriously problematic for us.

Predicting a very very scrappy and not convincing victory. Surely if we fail to win this then that's the moment the board pull the trigger? Surely? Surely?

I agree with what's been said, Jose should go out swinging with a fresh outlook. He must realise he may not have many more chances to play Dalot so get him in the team. Give the youngsters a proper chance; Andreas, Grant., maybe Chong.

Of course it'll be same old same old, but I'd love some freshness. As for the result I've gone for a very tentative 1-0 win, which is pretty scandalous in itself.

Will never happen, but would like to see this. A technical team with quick passing and attacking movement.

    ------------- DDG
    Dalot-Smalling-Bailly-Shaw
    ----------- Andreas
    --------Fred-------Pogba
    -------------Jesse
    -------Lukaku---Martial

Subs : Romero, Lindelof, Young, Fellaini, Mata, Rashford, Sanchez

They're even worse than we are, so we might win 1-0. I'd take it now and hopefully the international break clears everyone's heads (probably not).

I think it's fair to say Fellaini/Matic/Pogba only works in specific games, like it did against Burnley and Watford. Fellaini should be benched in most home games where we need someone a bit lighter on their feet with quicker passing ability to keep control of the ball, such as Fred or Herrera. I thought the back four was pretty set, but Bailly was brought back in and did OK against Valencia, so maybe José is finally willing to give him a run next to Smalling. IMO we're in a position where José just has to pick one CB to play alongside Smalling and even if they make mistakes, just stick with it and give them the opportunity for 10+ games in a row.

The attack just isn't working no matter what we do, but I'd try to stick with Sanchez/Lukaku/Rashford and see if they gel.

    de Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Shaw
    Fred Matic Pogba
    Sanchez Lukaku Rashford

It didn't go great yet again for Sanchez, but I think he saw more of the ball and showed more promise playing from the right. So many of us have been saying just play him there and see if he fights his way into form.

We will win this, Newcastle have been dreadful every time i've seen them this season. They have to be worse than us don't they?

    My team would be:

    ------------------De Gea-----------------

    Dalot ---- Bailly ------Smalling ----Shaw

    -------Pogba ----- Perreira ----Fred------

    Rashford ------Sanchez ----------Martial

Play with technical players who have energy in their legs and see how it goes. Newcastle are going to park the bus so let's press them and force them into mistakes. There has to come a point where Lukaku and Matic get dropped for their poor form, otherwise they will get away with the laborious so far this season. Get them on the bench and hungry to come on in the second half and make an impact.

Honestly another 0-0 would not surprise me. In fact, I would almost will it to happen if it meant Mourinho would be that step closer to the chopping board but sadly it won't make the blind bit of difference.
