If Maguire, WB, Shaw and Lindelof get back together, we won't be going far in the Europa League this year.

Don't play regular back four and Eriksen. That's all I am asking.

Expecting heavy rotation so not sure how good the performance will be but hopefully we carry on the momentum:

    De Gea
    AWB Maguire Lindelof Shaw
    Casemiro Fred
    Antony VDB Elanga
    Ronaldo
Hoping we might see some sub appearances from Garnacho and Zidane

    AWB Maguire Lindelof Shaw
    Casemiro Fred
    Elanga VdB Garnacho
    Ronaldo
I don't want to see any of the current first 11 playing any minutes. Maybe Antony could get some if he needs them over Garnacho.

Dubravka in for DDG and this looks spot on. It's a pretty decent (mostly) 2nd string 11!

We are really doing Soceidad a disservice here though, they just drew with Atletico 2 days ago so while I'd like Garnacho to get time, the priority is 3 points and I'll trust ETH's judgement.

I very much doubt we are going to change the entire lineup for the first Europa league game vs the toughest opponent in the group

Didn't they reach a EL final together? Maybe Bailly instead of Maguire due to injury or something? They will be fine.

    We’ll play a strong team.

Ronaldo, Casemiro, Fred, Shaw, Lindelof and Maguire will certainly come in.

Not giving a shit about the Europa League has to come to an end. Strategic rotation of players who need the break and need games, of course, but to throw on all our "reserves" is a daft idea and an insult to the match day fans and supporters around the world.

Hard choices have to be made about when to give Garnacho a start, but it's not going to happen against a decent Real Sociedad side. ETH will want to send a statement in this first EL match that he's out to win the cup. When to start Ronaldo? What about bedding in Antony? Lindelof? Shaw? I don't have the answers but whatever the right answer is the intent has to be take early points in this group so we can coast in the final two group stage matches and later on go for the trophy lift. That is the United way.

There is no way we are not taking Europa League seriously. Not saying we will play our best eleven, but probably 3-5 out of our players that started today will be involved. If we don't make the top 4, this is good chance of us getting CL football next season. And winning a European trophy for ETH and our younger players, even for United as a club and for all the players as a team, would mean a lot. It should be our second highest priority after the PL of course.

Varane and Eriksen should be rested, not even on the bench. Varane has the habit of picking up small injuries that keep him from the field for a couple of weeks in games like this. Eriksen was running more then anyone else against Arsenal and has been playing a lot lately. Also we have no other deep playing CM with his abilities so we can't have him playing all games.

DDG could play in this game, but is also a opportunity for Dubravka to get some minutes and prove himself. I mean we got him on loan for a reason and this should be one.

Dalot and Malacia? This is a hard one, we could go with Shaw and Wan Bissaka if they are fit. But then we will have at least 3 out 4 new players in the our back line and new GK. Not sure that is the best way to go if we want to get the 3 points. If we are going for it, the EPL, then we should try to secure a place in the knock outs as soon as possible, and winning at home should be the way to go. Try to get 12 points in the first 4 games, that should be enough and we will be through the group stages in 5 weeks from now. 13th October are we playing Omonia at Old Trafford, our 4th game.

    ------------------Dubravka
    ---Dalot Lindelöf Martinez Shaw
    -------------Casemiro Fred
    --------Antony Bruno Elanga
    -----------.------Ronaldo

7 fresh players but at least on paper that team should be more enough to win against a Sociedad that have not impressed to much in their first games and lost their best player in Alexander Isak that joined Newcastle.

Bruno, Dalot and Martinez should be substituted as soon as possible, don't play them more then 60 minutes if we are up 2-0. Throw in Sancho, Wan Bissaka and Maguire. I would even make the subs in half time if we are up with 2 goals.

Not sure if we are allowed to make 5 subs, if we are, then the remaining 2 subs should be used to give Garnacho 20-30 minutes and maybe Iqbal.

Since we got the information today that VDB is injured, i will count on him for this game. But if he is fit, he should get at least 20-30 minutes as well. This season is make it or break it for him, can't see him at the club for another year if he doesn't get involved a lot more in the next couple of months. If his old manager doesn't trust him here, no one else will.

maybe will come on as a sub but I can’t see him playing 90 thursday and then sunday again. we shall see

Love the addition of the new players this season, now we are looking at a second team (that would have been our first team last season) that could include the likes of Casemiro (not saying that’s his level obviously), Ronaldo, and we could see Garnacho, and Martial who seems up for it under ETH!
I hope we rest some of the first team players for this, I wouldn’t mind seeing 6-7 changes for this one, I would start Antony, Casemiro, Ronaldo, and Garnacho (although, it would most likely be Elanga).

I'm a bit nervous, we've often been tactically weak against Spanish sides. I'm hoping ten Hag's knowledge will see us through this

Regular back four and Eriksen confirmed. I would actually like to see Eriksen at the 10, backed up by Fredimiro. But it will probably be Donny.

Although we need to field a strong team to get the 3 points, we could do with resting a lot of the first team squad. Keep them fit for the premier league. Sancho could defo do with a rest as he always looks tired halve way through a game.

Just seeing some of the teams being put out, after a long time I'm feeling that we have a pretty amazing second 11. A team that on form can beat a lot of first choice 11's.

Really hoping that the likes of our second choice defence show what they're made off, because we are one injury away from over if then brevity/becoming a starter

    Casemiro--Fred
    Antony--VdB--Elanga
    Ronaldo

We need to get minutes for our squad. If Martial is fit then I'd start him and rest Antony. Take Antony off after 60 mins.

There's absolutely no chance ETH is going to change the entire 11 against a very decent Spanish team.

It will be 3-4 changes at most. Casemiro and Ronaldo to start for sure.

You can’t swap 11’s and think we’ll just destroy these teams but a good 5 or 6 changes and we’ll be fine.

    DDG

    Dalot
    Lindelof
    Martinez
    Shaw

    Fred
    Casemiro
    Bruno

    Elanga
    Ronaldo

Seriously guys? We’ve just won 4 on the bounce for the first time in months and some of you are suggesting “full changes“. Entirely the wrong thing to do for me. As a squad, We need to continue building momentum Irrespective of what competition we are playing in. Changing our whole backline, midfield and forwards is ridiculous. I actually want to win the europa league.

We do need changes of course to cater for the schedule but not an entire team’s worth. I’d like to see Ronaldo and casemiro start. Elanga too. If Varane and Martinez are feeling good I’d go for them. And rest eriksen. No more for me.

I'd take a point with a new 11. Squad rotation will be more important than points at specific times of the season.

Varane and Martinez both need rest, the latter even picked up an injury against Arsenal and was subbed off. Rashford also reached for his hamstring at some point. Eriksen absolutely needs rest and so does Sancho. We have a brutal fixture on Sunday.

The way some people in this thread talk you'd think we are pulling our reserves from League One and pitting them against Real Madrid. Even if I don't necessarily rate them, some of these players played an EL final not that long ago. And we still have Casemiro, Fred, Ronaldo, and Antony in the mix as well.
