However, it has backfired especially when the journalists replied with withering criticism while he was at Bayern at the height of the troubles. It's surprising how long it has taken the UK journalists to pick up on his word games.

Plus at 26 and fit as a fiddle he doesn't seem the type we'd need to rest, certainly no more so than say Herrera who is another high energy player who has played more than him.

Schneiderlin is a bit injury prone though, and was injured recently, so it could be that he's just protecting him. Not sure with Carrick though, he has hardly played so shouldn't need too much rest right now.
I actually thought Carrick would play in this game. Maybe he wants his experience away at Newcastle and Liverpool?
We needn't bother playing a defensive midfielder in a home game to a League one side. It's only annoying when we don't have him on the pitch against teams who we actually need someone to break up play against (another reference back to that Arsenal game).
Yup this really is a no win situation for LvG. If we win 3-0(my prediction) then it's Sheffield Utd what do you expect they are 8th in League One for a reason, but if we draw or lose to these then she wont be able to take it Captain.
I imagine he feels Schweini needs the 90 under his belt and doesn't want to use the Carrick and Bastian duo against a hard running side.
You need a hoilding CM no matter who you play, someone to help the CB's and especially against a robust side from a lower league that will get stuck in.
Who will he play as the holding midfieder? Really it only leaves BFS? Fellaini is a liability and it would be a of waste Herrera.
