Think we’ll win this one with ease. Worried about Everton away though 2 days later. All the makings of a plucky win for Big Sam.

I think most of us will be watching Citys latest fantastic display no?
Now there's a club that doesn't need to spend £300m to look good. Absolutely incredible, they are. Has anyone suggested they might be the best side the Premier League has seen? I think they definitely are.

Anyway, Lingard deserves a start. Southampton are dire, in spite of all the negativity here I think this will be a comfortable game for us. 3-0.

Another team that got destroyed by Spurs (Kane) just before we play them - sounds like another draw to me..
    Think we will struggle again!

Hope Jose doesnt chop and change the first 11 too much like last game. Shaw should start again and hopefully will continue to improve.

Players like Ibra and Rojo should only start from the bench and play once the team has a good lead. Scotty to come in for Matic when the team is winning as well.

If Herrera’s form doesnt improve, Fellaini is basically on the way to Turkey, Andreas staying in Spain, I think Jose should give Gomes a spot on the bench.

Just seen we're playing Saturday 5:30, then Monday 5:30. 48 hours between games is crazy.

Hope Jose gets realistic here and prepare the players mentally and give them a motivation although it's a lower degree of motivation but players always need something to fight for and after that City defeat they looked like they just throw the towel and that will affect us and will only bring us down in the table and it's started to happen so now hopefully Jose go and tell them logically we are not winning the league but at least fight for that second place and finish this season runners up and then we can build on that, find any reason to give them that push is necessary.

I know, but sadly, our version of attacking is something you'd expect to see from say....a Burnley...if they were 2-0 down at home to Swansea. Cross, cross, cross, cross, cross, cross, moment of magic, cross, cross.
When a team packs the middle, one of the best, and sometimes only, methods of attacking is to get it wide. It's not as effective, though, when your team actually sucks at crossing.

Watching City yesterday and they did find some similar issues against the Newcastle bus. They had a lot of joy from Sterling in wide areas, and when you have De Bruyne capable of spotting almost any pass, attacking through the middle is an added bonus. Bar Lingard and Mata, the rest of our forwards don't really move off the ball and that creates issues when attempting to attack through the middle.

Nice starting XI, although I would start O'Shea ahead of Brown.

Going for 3-0 win, Vidic, O'Shea and Eric. Ferguson to bottle Ronaldo for a penalty missed.

Now seriously, hope we're not gonna see Ibra - Lukaku partnership again for this one.

    Going for:

    -------------------DDG----------------
    Young-----Jones----Lindelof---Shaw
    --------Matic----------Pogba---------
    Martial -------- Lingard ----- Mhkyt
    ------------Rom Rom Romelu-------

    Gonna smash them 4-0.

I'd previously have said that we'd score 4, but it seems that even with Pogba, we struggle.
I have no idea how we will do, here.
We are weak defensively, on set pieces (which is weird), though we do have the capability to score 2 goals per game.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino has confirmed two players will miss the match against United.

The Argentine confirmed that full-backs Cedric Soares (ankle) and Ryan Bertrand (hamstring) were not yet ready to return against United, while striker Charlie Austin is set to serve the second game of a three-match ban handed down for catching goalkeeper Jonas Lossl in the face during the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield.

“Charlie, Cedric and Ryan are the players who will not be involved against Man United,” Pellegrino said.

“Maybe Ryan is the closest to a return, I hope against Crystal Palace [on 2 January] he’d be ready to play.”

If we don't start Ibra and Rojo, we will be fine.

We were excellent against Leicester bar shoddy finishing like last season. We were poor against Burnley as we started those two. Select the right XI and it will be business as usual.

Rojo looked good his first couple of games back, but his performances quickly shifted and he's looked well off the pace. As for Ibrahimovic, I think he is just clearly not fit. Like, not at all. Probably won't even be close for another 3-4 weeks, but he's getting in the squad on reputation (and the fact we don't have many other options, in truth). Injuries to Valencia and Smalling are problematic as I think they're probably the two most consistent in their respective positions for us. Annoying that Smalling's injury has coincided with Bailly being out, but we should be used to this happening every year. Phil Jones will start, but I'm not sure whether it'll be Rojo or Lindelof yet. No Carrick and Herrera's average form is probably burning out Matic a bit, especially since he's been carrying an injury. Hard to be enthusiastic but this lot are even more shite at the moment...

    de Gea
    Young Lindelof Jones Shaw
    Matic Pogba
    Lingard Mata Rashford
    Lukaku

Blind is going to get some game-time here at some point. I think Jose will play three in midfield against Everton and start Rojo there instead. Mkhitaryan off the bench, too.

Will be a crime if we don't win this with them playing without all those.

Both fullbacks are out injured, we should win this one without any excuses.

If United start well it will be an easy win! But you can tell the lads have been in a bad mood since City, so it could easily become a struggle if the attitude isn’t right!

With Everton away 2 days later we surely need to rotate heavily for this one:

It's interesting taking a look at this. It's a decent side, but highlights our lack of pace and power across the team. No real pace or power from the right. I really actually rate Blind as a player.. I don't see him as a defender, rather a ball playing midfielder. It's a shame he hasn't the opportunity to play that Carrick type role. He isn't a ball winner (Matic, Pogs..) but I always feel that we do not get the best out of him under Mourinho. He's an offensive player with a glorious left-foot, and an eye for a pass or shot. Where has all that gone?

I just want us to begin to play with a sense of balance, and an attacking strategy which takes the pressure off of our defensive players. De Gea is STILL our best player in many games, this isn't right at all. The fact that Mourinho just doesn't bother with attacking as a game-plan ( rather than just hope that Deco, or Pogba, or Ronaldo, or Snjeider etc makes things happen, and buy an expensive No 9..) is now putting pressure on him, frustrating the fans, and is putting pressure on our team on match days.

Austin is still suspended right? That can only mean one thing.... Shane Long will score for the first time since 1963 so. :houllier:

Some youngsters like Gribbin, Gomes, Ro-Shaun Willians, Mitchell, etc were involved in training ahead of this match. And with a of just one day for the trip to Everton, I would like to see few of them getting involved in match day.
