I see you guys all post Maguire on the Starting XI, I thought he got a yellow card in the last game and that was making it 5? Or it's just me and I am mistaken?

Hope we get the win tonight, although it will be a tough one..
The rule is up to 19 league games. After 19 games, it changes to 10 yellow with 2 match ban. Last game was 21st.

Not looking fwd to this. Our attack is bang out of form, with arguably perhaps the worst football Rashford and Martial have been playing.

I’d actually drop them both and play James/Amad on the wings with Cavani up top. That will of course never happen with the pair seemingly untouchable And Solskjaer easing Amad in

Shaw’s best games at LB has been when Rashford did not play on the left. Rashford does not create the space for Shaw to get wide and most of the time you find Shaw drifting to the middle when Rashford’s on the left
The last game both Shaw & Rashford played down the left together was the Liverpool FA Cup game. Both played really well.

Shaw put in a MOTM performance in that game and Rashford got a goal and an assist in that game.

He's far more effective on the left. Why he was played on the right confuses me...and him

I'm probably going to say this every game but any chance Diallo makes the bench? Surely he has to get a look in soon considering the form of our attackers.

Very important to win this one for both the points and morale. We do that and we can put the SU game as a blip and nothing more, we fail to win and it can become a problem.

Agent Minamino to be subbed on & score in the 90th minute.

Would be nice to be surprised by our performance today but I just can’t see it happening.

Precisely, it’s his best position. Last two games he’s played on the left iirc was against Liverpool in the FA Cup and Leicester on Boxing Day. 2 goals and 1 assist in those two games. Shaw was excellent in both games too.

This experiment on the right has to stop as it’s clear as day he just doesn’t look anywhere near comfortable over on that side.

Need a proper result to give back some confidence.

    DDG
    AWB Maguire Lindelof Shaw
    Fred Pogba
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Cavani

No messing about, get Rashford back on the left where he is effective. If Greenwood can't make the right spot his own in the next 3-4 matches, try Amad.

Not sure about that, I think they have a really good understanding and timing when Shaw's overlapping, Rashford usually passes at the exact right time, avoiding the offside.

Win and we're right back in it, particularly with the sheikh's toy playing the scouse at the weekend. Lose and we're in a struggle for top four. Mad.

Win our next 2 games and City will possibly go to anfield behind us (albeit with a game in hand)

I really think this week could determine how long we stay in the title race. Win both and I think the belief will be there. Both tough gamesafter a hard spell

Think they've got a lot of guys half fit or out - Romeu, Diallo, Walcott, Walker-peters, Vestergaard, think there's like 4 or 5 others - and a skeleton team as it is. At full strength they are really tough, well drilled and play decent football (albeit with a squad far below us in overall quality) but you can see in their recent form how susceptible thin squads are to injuries and limited money. We should not be over confident but we've got issues if we can't win this off the back off the last two games, should be flying out the blocks tonight.

If ever there was a season for us to be in the title race it's this one, all teams across the league are flagging with injuries and thin squads - we've ben fine and really need to capitalise.

Dreading this to the point I might just skip it altogether. Probably will if Martial plays and stinks the pitch out.

We need to get the ball to Bruno further up the pitch. He will create things if we can get the ball into him.

Unfortunately, recently he is picking the ball in useless areas, no one is finding him. This is because we move the ball as if we are playing a friendly in 50 degrees heat.

Tony & Marcus need to look at that bench and see Diallo, maybe then it will make both of them think we better lift our performances or he will take our place. Like I said yesterday I am not saying he should be played but just to provide a kick up the arse that's all.

Expecting another tight, edgy and all in all unenjoyable game. Could go either way, but I really would love to think we'll have enough to scrape a win, we should do, but our home form inspires very little confidence.

Not even going to bother asking for a relaxing night

They have seen enough of him in training. The players who need to be worried are martial and James

Hope this isn't a match which passes us by.

Last few games, bar Liverpool in the cup, we've allowed to drift and not really grab the initiative for any sustained period.

Think it will be close, but I just want us to look to assert ourselves a bit more than in recent weeks.

I want to remain positive but I am extremely fearful of this one and hope I am wrong! Hoping we produce a brilliant performance where we win by at least 2-3 goals as we haven't seen that in a while! (Leeds game I believe).

We are picking up more points than our performances have been showing and it was inevitable the dropped points during the past 2 games was bound to happen. We can't expect to just play in 2nd gear throughout most of the season and expect to challenge for the league, no matter how poor the other 19 teams are! Yes I know a lot of teams have been poor but Man City are looking ever so dangerous now and I still do believe Liverpool will be there and about come the end of the season. So because of that we really need to start upping the gears now! A lot of our players are continuing to play while out of form and we really need to hope Rashford and Martial play like they was last season and with some consistency if we are to have any hope of doing something. Need Greenwood and Cavani to be chipping in as well and can't just rely on Bruno!

The game against Southampton is so big, not only so we can continue to apply pressure on Man City but also because usually when we hit a bad patch of form we tend to crumble so I'm hoping we can put things right asap after a poor showing in the past 2 games.

feck it, if they’re playing badly sub them off before half time and bring the GOAT on.

I'm still looking forward to the game, its far from the points its been in the past where I was almost dreading watching us.

Get stuffed tonight and I can't say I'll be exactly buzzing for the Everton game though.

EDIT - actually you know what even under LVG/Jose I was never dreading it, I'd always go in hopeful....and then it would kickoff and I'd remember just how tumescent we were to watch.

Judging by the last reserve game, it's more likely we'll see Hugill before Diallo.

I think we might see Diallo make the bench for the cup game maybe, but I can't see him being involved in the next two league games judging by Ole's comments, unless we have some injury or covid concerns.
