A draw is nailed on. The worst case.

If we win then we win. 3 points. But I would rather us lose than draw as the reaction would be so extreme he may go. There would be new levels of discontent.

Van Gaal is the king of saving himself while still making sure we don't actually win and fall further behind. Look at the Newcastle and Chelsea games. We showed a little attacking intent so that arrogant tool thinks it's all going welll and we are title contenders.

1-1 with us managing more than 2 shots on target and the club see it as a step in the right direction when he should have been gone weeks ago and everyone at Old Trafford tonight apart from those in the directors box know it.

I genuinely Hope, Fellaini doesn't start. Carrick-Schneidy-Herrera combo should work well.

as do I - Fellaini has been awful in that midfield 2......surely he can't play him ahead of a rested Herrera and a fit Carrick......

though with our Louis who knows what the thought process is....

    Please play

I doubt a 0-0 will cause a meltdown. I expect Pep comments to be made though.
I remember the reaction when we played

    Middlesbrough
    PSV
    West Ham
Sheff Utd (until the 93rd minute)

The most incredible thing is that if we lose I still don't think LVG will be sacked or resign.

He's here for the rest of the season, regardless of our results. Or until we mathematically can't reach the top 4.

The Match Day thread is always on Meltdown mode when we're drawing or losing. I meant it won't reach the epic levels of yesterday.

Wins my vote. But I think Januzaj might struggle if he is played. I'd prefer Mata. Lingard hasn't had good games the last few weeks.

I have very low expectations for a performance worth watching. Am I correct in understanding that the match will not be shown live on TV in the UK?

It's appalling how far we've fallen under this robotic clown.

Ugh I can see a 1-1 with a little bit of fighting spirit masking another terrible result and LVG surviving again.

I read moaning about that elsewhere, but that seems highly improbable. No matter how shit our play, United is still a massive draw for TV viewers outside of Manchester. Or maybe that's no longer the case?

Standard 0-0 at HT and 0-1 FT. Shame we can't play Liverpool every week.

No, it definitely still is the case. I live in the states and you can always catch their games on TV, regardless of the competition they're playing in.

Any team news so far? I'm not liking the radio silence before a PL game. I hope Memphis gets a shot at redemption.

Januzaj played for the U-21's last night, so doubt he will play.

It won't be that surprising if they win, will it?

Unless I'm flattering them, they have looked a real threat this season in most games and solid all over. Not even mentioning they beat us over Xmas with relative ease.

This is in comparison to ourselves who can seemingly only defeat cannon-fodder sides.

Just don't fecking care anymore. Even if we win this game, it's a small battle won in a war that was lost long ago. Club is in complete disarray. The direction we are heading in is hopeless.

I've been putting United games first, over pressing work schedules, grad school papers, family time etc., for years now. This weekend, I'm taking my daughter to a play instead. Don't regret that decision at all. feck off Glazers, feck off Woodward.

Hard to disagree with this. My enjoyment in watching our games has been sucked out by LVG this season, similar to how Moyes did.

The inner workings of our club needs some serious restructuring I think, or we will be left in the past as the likes of City surge forward with actual ambition.

But this game is tonight, so will you be giving it your full attention?

He is only the king because of the environment he in he has made himself lucky, in any other big club they have be having him packing his bags and sending him to Florida for his retirement

Hell ed woodward himself sent VG a bottle of wine, so that sums up the clubs rudderless position, only at this club can you do a job so bad you get rewarded by a fine bottle of wine

Stoke have had two tough away games (and two cup exits) almost in the space of a week.

You have to hope they'll somehow get caught in an OT sandwich and aren't feeling their usual perky selves.

But I've got to say there's about this United bunch that inspires little confidence, particularly at home.

If Carrick doesn't start, it'll be another long night.

Our style of play is so slow, stoke could have played yesterday and still come to OT and been given a breather, VG philosophy for you

Time to give Andreas Pereira a real opportunity. Didn't play for the U21's so should at least get on as a sub.
Mata and Herrera haven't shown enough the last few weeks to stay in the team imo.
I expect Schneiderlin-Carrick to be the midfield pairing, that should be enough to give the attacking players some freedom. Pereira, Memphis, Martial and Rooney please!

    Pretty accurate really.

But desperate times mean help is needed from the opposition - and United will need help tonight.

This sums up our football in 19 seconds on what we get every game, the VG football philosophy in 19 seconds
