What exactly is the point/role of Pogba in this team?

Seriously, all protectionism and sarcasm aside. What is he doing? Build-up only happens through Ibrahimovic (who is playing very well), Herrera and Mata. Pogba literally does nothing and he's extremely invisible. In fact, he seems to actively avoid receiving the ball in midfield by hiding behind opposition players or running up the pitch. He's constantly chilling around the box to get a longshot goal for his youtube compilations.

Incredibly pointless player, what a waste of money holy shit. Should've gotten Gündogan for half the price, even if he got injured. But from what it looks like, people are getting fooled by his almost-goals again. Those people don't seem to consider that in order to get 2-3 decent shots at the target (that were not good enough to turn into goals), he essentially gave up his role in a midfielder and played as a second striker.
    Is this serious? :confused::confused:

Carrick seems a bit unnecessary in this game. We need someone close to Zlatan
Yeah, also there's no need to defend with 10 behind the ball in our own half. Go and attack them, It's only Sunderland ffs.

We should have done better on the counter attacks
We're lucky to not concede a goal.
    Valencia is awfully
Mata is going to score today
We should have had a penalty
Blind is finally taking some runs on the left wing
I don't see Mata scoring today, he's been pretty quiet apart from the freekick at the end.

our right wing position is on vacation, offers nothing on the break. That is why Mikhi is miles better than Mata in the team.

Blind was our worst player but more than made it up with the goal. Now bring Mkhi and Martial on around 60 min and let us destroy them on the counter.

Van Gaal would have subbed Rojo and Blind at HT because of what they did on the goal.

we have done well, had most of our chances on counters
Probably, although Sunderland forwards are crap, hence they are in the bottom 3.
    Valencia has been pretty good.
    Hope so.
    We should have 2.
Aye, although Anichebe is creating a lot of issues for him.

Decent half. Did have a few hairy moments. Invited Sunderland on to us, after starting the game well, and were lucky not to be a goal down.

Thankfully, we finished the half strongly and were rewarded with a goal, which was very well taken by Blind, after a great bit of team play.

Kind of didn't want the whistle to blow when it did because it looked as if we were going to get the second. I think the second goal will kill the game - very much like the game against West Brom.

Just a note: free electron. Pogba has done well to get the ball back, and he drives forward when he can (and if other players don't mess it up too while receiving the ball). Sometimes it's a goal, sometimes, it's a miss, that's football. So no, no need for Gundogan, he can stay injured at City for what it's worth.

We need a second goal to kill this off. Sunderland won't come out attacking and we have to pin them back. Probably introduce Mkhitaryan in the second half.

I agree. It didn't look like it was his game at all, but the last 15 minutes he found his space again - the one where he normally comes off from a game scoring. I just love it when he gets the ball 45 degrees from the top right box corner so to speak - kind of like where Messi usually start his runs. He will get his goal today, i'm sure.

Decent, and that's been enough. Arguably should have had 2 penalties. Referees again...

The big positive is we've only had one scare, and we are defending quite resilently. Now we are 1-0 up that should give us a platform.

Good to see our full backs playing their role, giving us width. Would be good to see Mhiki and Martial get a run out later though.

A few awkward moments, that appalling header from Blind would have let anyone half decent get a shot in, so we're lucky it fell to pro wrestler Anichebe.

Still, hopefully now we're 1-0 up we can set the tone of the game, and Sunderland will have to drop the defense mode and risk it, letting us in more.

Is it me, or do we seem to run 95% of attacks through the middle these days. Clearly it'd be different if the bench boys get on.
