West Ham United Football Club (nicknamed The Irons, The Hammers, and The Academy of Football) are a professional football club based in Upton Park, East London. They were founded in 1895 by foreman and local league referee Dave Taylor and owner Arnold Hills as Thames Ironworks F.C. - a strictly amateur football club with a team featuring a number of works employees. During the summer of 1898, Thames Ironworks F.C. became a professional outfit for the first time, to match their new status as members of the Southern League Second Division, and were promoted to the First Division at the first attempt following a decision to enlarge the top division of the Southern League to 19 teams. After growing disputes over the running and financing of the club in June 1900, Thames Ironworks F.C. resigned from the Southern League and were officially wound up. On 5 July 1900 they reformed under the new name of West Ham United and accepted an offer of the Southern League place left vacant by Thames Ironworks.

West Ham's most successful period started with the appointment of Ron Greenwood in 1961 - leading to FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners' Cup titles - with youth team graduates Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters at the forefront. Their nickname The Academy of Football pays homage to the club's proud tradition in English football for playing entertaining, attacking football - and the success of the club in coaching future greats - which includes that aforementioned trio of World Cup winners, Trevor Brooking, Paul Ince, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Jermaine Defoe and Michael Carrick. West Ham's most prominent rivals are local clubs Millwall (Dockers derby - one of the longest-standing and most bitter in English football), Chelsea (East versus West London rivalry), and Tottenham Hotspur (East versus North London derby). They played their home games at the now demolished Boleyn Ground (often referred to as Upton Park) from 1904 to 2016, and moved to the London Olympic Stadium at the start of the 2016/ 2017 League season.

    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Williams
    Matic - Pogba
    Greenwood - Bruno - Rashford

No nonsense. Put them to the sword. Score as many as possible to give ourselves a nice buffer before Leicester.

Hope today's clusterfeck game does not affect the players mentally. We need 3 points vs Ham

This team, but I'd start Romero in goal. DDG is sadly a huge liability. Can see West Ham bombarding his lubed hands with long efforts.

Two draws and fourth is ours. 10-0-0 formation. Park the bus in both games and pray, the coward’s way! We (don’t) go for it!! :nervous:

Just turn up again, that’s all we can ask. We haven’t even turned up for 3 games, never mind played well.

Aston villa play a day before us.. If they dont win.. West Ham are mathematically safe..

Hope they go out and get drunk.. or stay in and get drunk.. whatever.

Actually don't see us winning this.

    Not after this debacle.

Honestly think our confidence is shot after tonight.

Huge mistake from the staff in todays team selection, which could haunt us.

Spurs did us a favour today, can Arsenal be nice to us Tuesday?

Need to dig deep and get a win here. The players heads are all over the place, passing and movement is off.

We really shouldn't be using fatigue as an excuse with 2 games to go. Players have to give it all they got.

I love the drama after a bad result..
I am usually too upset to be on the caf.. but I dont care about the cup, so I am enjoying this.

    Caftards do tend towards hysteria.
Reality is we haven't played a decent team since football resumed and lads were getting carried away.
We are not as good as many thought.
We are not as bad either.
    Must beat West Ham now.

Just win. Whatever the XI as long as they are fit enough to play.

    Certainly not any drama.
    Just an opinion.

I for one love the FA Cup, i think it's a great competition and have very fond memories of winning it.

That's why this team selection irked me.
You could see it from the start it's not gonna work.

Also, i believe mentality is underrated, especially in the dying moments of the season.

This could end up hurting us.
Not just a Cup exit - we still have two important games in the league, and don't forget the EL.

2-1 in a big scrape. If we win 3-0 though, huge breathing space for a 1-0 loss against Leicester.

Regroup in this match and get the three points! Back to the usual starting 11, hoping Shaw is fit.

    glad Dean is not officiating!

Avoid a loss is all I care about.

No chance we beat them by many goals with players this tired.

They will press us .. like Chelsea,Southampton and CP.. be prepared.. score an early goal.. then relax

If moyes beats us let's retire for the remainder of the season and go into hiding.

Bounce back ability required on Wednesday.

I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't concerned. Loads of the current United players are leg weary now and are running on empty while watching West Ham in action v Watford they were full of running and energy. Moyes no doubt will have them well fired up for this game.

West Ham at the end of the season fixture floods the bad memories from 1992,1995, 2007 and 2016. I'll be delighted with any type of Man United win on Wednesday.

Nice to see people finally noticing how important Shaw has been.

Regards the game, this will show us what type of mentality we have. I personally feel we have strong enough characters to get over today's game and go again on Wednesday.

This is exactly my main worry. WH will be fully refreshed and up for this, whilst we're coming off the back of a damaging defeat with DDG, Lindelof, Maguire, Matic, Bruno having clocked up another 90+ minutes, and Rashford 80+ minutes. Not to mention the psychological blow.

Ole needs to get a rocket up their arses for the next game. Anything other than 3 points is unacceptable.

Stick a few quid on Giroud FGS/Anytime. Printing money.
Of course, if anyone wants to earn a few quid due to me being the second coming of Nostradamus, I would suggest putting £20 on Antonio FGS.

Hope we see a reaction. Smash them 3 or 4 with our best team and CL is done and dusted.

Romero has to play. Butterfingers needs to feck off now. Enough is enough.

Have to see a reaction. Hopefully Shaw is back. Need to be hitting at least three goals.

    Romero
    TFM Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Matic
    Scott Pogba
    Greenwood Martial Rashford

De Gea, Laird, Tuanzebe, Williams, Fred, Lingard, Mata, James, Ighalo
Wan-Bissaka and Bruno need to be sat on ice for 7 days. Ideally, we'd do the same with Lindelof and Maguire but we just don't have anyone fit to step in for them. In an ideal world we'd get a couple of goals in the first half and take Pogba, Maguire and the front 3 off at half time.

Realistically, we can't and won't do any of that. Today was the day lads had to be rested but fortunately getting through to the final of the cup was more important and by picking exhausted players, we ensured that happe....

Do not make the same mistake as today. We cannot depend on getting a result in our final game AWAY at Leicester. Could easily slip up there and Vardy and Schemichel will probably have a blinder.

We need to start strong and make this our cup final. Win well against west ham then we can park the bus at leicester and get a draw or nick it at the end.

    Jesus Wept.
We had all these “Jesus wepts” when people said the team looked knackered and we’d struggle to beat Chelsea.

“easy win lads it’s Chelsea final here we come wahey”

we are playing like trash and our players look dead on their feet. Defence especially just seems to be crumbling.

we are relying on a martial bit of magic.

So glad there's another game so soon.
A now safe West Ham is a perfect chance to forget today.

Play the best team available, at most McTom in for Matic, but the top 5 lads in front of him to all start.
