The importance of tonight’s game for us can’t be overstated. It doesn’t only determine top 4, it determines whether we sign Sancho, Partey etc etc, it determines whether we have to play Sunday-Thursday-Sunday and tire the players out, amongst so many other things.

Win, and we confirm ourselves in the top 4 at the end of the gameweek for the first time all season bar Gameweek 1. We’ve bottled every single opportunity to do precisely that all season, but if there was ever a time to change that, it’s the penultimate gameweek. I’ve got many important things going on right now and where I live, the game starts at 1am. Still though, I’ll be watching and cannot wait. Come on!

    My preferred lineup:
DDG (if he breaks the record, we’ll win.)
    AWB Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Pogba Matic
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Martial

Full strength. Forget Leicester. Win this and we’ll only need a draw there!

    Prediction: 4-0, Rashford X1, Bruno X1, Martial X2
It can be, and has been, overstated. To an extent tonight is irrelevant; we're not going to win 6-0, but tiredness/another Chelsea performance could easily see us lose by 3 on Saturday.

Draw, win, whatever. Just don't lose.

25 years since those Irons helped give Dalgleish, Redknapp and co a party at Anfield so, even though we can't relegate them, I'd like to see a Fawlty type damn good thrashing this evening!
Don't forget Kenny Brown playing his part in Leeds pipping us to the last first division title in 92.

Am worried about Lindelof today, Antonio is his perfect kryptonite could cause us serious problems

What are the chances United will embarrass us today? We only need 2 draws in our next 2 games to quality. Surely we can’t feck this up?

If we could get 4 pts from the two games do you reckon that could be enough for third

Expecting a bastard of a game. We've got the Moyes element; our tiredness; the it's in our hands - oops fecked it up precedent; the Southampton esq 'opposition has nothing to play for but turns up like a team of Gattusos' issue.

This would be my shout for today.

De Gea - more furore will come for dropping him
    Williams
    Maguire
    Lindelof
    FosuM
McTominay - extra energy at 6 than Matic
    Pogba
    Bruno
    Rashford
    Martial
    Greenwood

Would be tempted to play Matic or Fred at LB tbh for natural left foot. Matic as a defensive full back for height and calmness on the ball, or Fred for better agility and ability in tight spaces. Not feeling Williams today.

These players need to be racing out of the traps today. At home, chance to set the tone for the game and just get things done. Only way they're getting any rest is to finish the match by the 60th or so.

If we start in slow motion before the drinks break again, we're going to Traveller ourselves.

We need to control the ball, put West Ham on the back foot and show them that it's going to be an awful afternoon. I think that'll give them a nice push towards the beach.

I don’t care if West Ham raise their game tonight there’s no justification for not winning this; we’ve been gifted a chance at Top4 here. Excuses need to end.

Anthony Martial has scored in his last 5 premier league games at Old Trafford, I am optimistic he will score in his last home game of the season in the epl.

Starting to get nervous. West Ham have some players that could raise their game today. I just hope we aren't tired, but we will be i guess.

so Lindelof cant cover Pacey Forward (like Antonio) and cant cover the physical ones (like Giroud): How useless is he, really?

Regardless of what happened against Chelsea, I think we'll get an easy win today. In spite of the little things we did wrong in the game against Chelsea like failing to make in-roads into the opponent box or creating actual chances, Ole put out a very bad side and a bad bad formation against Chelsea. To top that De Gea made 2 very costly mistakes. I think he's made far too many mistakes this season and even though I love the guy to death, I think he needs competition for his place as No.1. Henderson is the perfect person for that but i will not accept dropping De Gea for the remainder of the season. It was Ole's mistake not to play Romero in the cup game on Sunday. Jose approved Romero for the Europa League final but Ole cannot come to an agreement to put Romero in front of goal in a Semi. Definitely unacceptable. I think De Gea will start against the Hammers and we will start our normal XI and things are going to be just fine. We gonna score 2 or 3 goals, keep a clean sheet, and make the jump into Top4. I'm hoping Chelsea will lose against Liverpool and hopefully against Wolves as well. We must take down the Foxes on the final day and make it to 3rd in the table which will immensely boost our hopes for Europa. Also, we can rest most of the players for the second leg since we have a 5 goal lead against LASK. Things I hope works in our favor and we move on to the summer window to get the likes of Sancho, Grealish, maybe Rice or Saul, and go on to win the league.

We've struggled the last 3 games and it is evident because we've played a lot of games in quick succession but the team needs to know that even with the ball, we can keep the shape and play within our rights. Just go out there and dominate the ball, that is all we fans expect of you and the results will automatically follow!

Expect Bruno and Matic to come off the bench after starting against Chelsea. So a Fred, McTominay and Pogba midfield.

Please no more Daniel James, for the love of god Ole just spare the kid further embarrassment.

I'd love to see Ighalo, Martial and Greenwood start the match as a front three, Ighalo the main target Martial and Greenwood left and right. Midfield wise Mctominey, Pogba and Fernades and TFM in for AWB.

De Gea to be rightfully dropped as well.

We have to worry about tonight, no need resting players if it costs us the points. I know Sunday is more important but any advantage we can get before hand is vital.

We're still playing a team in the bottom 4 and we have more quality, and people are shitting themselves?

If we win 3-0 and then lose 2-0 we're still 4th due to goal difference right?

We'd fall back behind Leicester in that case. A 2-0 loss on the final day would be a 4 goal swing in goal difference, a 3-0 victory against West Ham would only put us 3 ahead.

It's been years since I've felt this nervous about a game.

Not only is this a big moment (relative to where we've recently been). It's also happening under a manager that I believe could actually build on it for the future.

We should have a sticky megathread on goal difference in direct head to head going into the Leicester game.
