    I want to see this

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Rojo Shaw
    Matic spsMcTom
    Pogba
    Mata SPACESPACE Sanchez
    Lukaku

(Actually i'd like to see Martial replace Lukaku up top but that's never gonna happen)

Push the back-line further up and make it compact that way. Apply one of the CB as the "extra DMP" in position. Play with One DMP and a attacking game with sharp forward passes and runs. This style of play will (as I do see it) suit both players and Club.
Smalling to play that role like a boss!

Indeed and it's a very interesting question. He's my PotM for January but I can see the logic in Jesse missing out if we're going to play 4-3-3 cruel and strange though it appears.
So what more exactly does he have to do in order to be thought of as a "must start" type player?
If he is as you say our Player of the Month for January, if which I would agree, then leaving him out of the starting line-up would be just wrong wouldn't it?

What incentive would there be for players to play well if when they do, they just get dropped??

There seems to be a key player missing from these line-ups, now if only I could put my finger on who it was/is, then I would ask why he is missing!

We should bounce the Mags, Palace were all over them a like a rash yesterday.

I want us to go 4-3-3 and get used to attacking at speed from that formation. First and foremost it gives us better solidity (and an actual midfield) but there's no reason we can't attack quickly with the pace we have up front and Pogba pulling the strings.

 An admirable, if predictable, sentiment from you sir but I must inform you that doesn't mean 'where are you?'.
He means why are you a God, oh Messi-like one? (You look uncannily like Lingard from the academy mad a a bag of cats). It's just perfect. Did you not know that @12OunceEpilogue is a direct descendant of the bard?

I accept it seems perverse to leave your most in-form player out but the logic I see is that 4-3-3, with Pogba on the left of the MF given carte blanche to get forward, is our best and most balanced setup. However I don't feel that formation is the best for Jesse as it isn't his natural game to be dropping in doing spadework in midfield (though he does it admirably and without complaint) and I prefer Martial - Lukaku- Sanchez up front.

If Jose instead says 'feck it, a 4-2-3-1 with my form player Jesse alternating with Sanchez between the right and 10 should be too much for Newcastle' I wouldn't necessarily blame him but I'm keen for us to settle into what I feel is our best formation and to prove we can use it to attack potently despite on the face of it losing a good attacking player to shore up our midfield.

Perhaps I'm over complicating and we should stick with our in-form players whenever possible but I feel the best fit for the team is 4-3-3 and as much as it's hard on him that doesn't include Jesse in the XI in my view.

He means why are you a God, oh Messi-like one? (You look uncannily like Lingard from the academy mad a a bag of cats). It's just perfect. Did you not know that @12OunceEpilogue is a direct descendant of the bard?

8 days until next game is a long time.
And 6 days to the following game. Yet people are calling our players tired and demand they be rested.

All this after a trip to Dubai and another 5 day between games.

    Anyone but Rashford
I think we’ll see McTominay again and I’m quite excited to see how he gets on. This will be a bigger test – If he can just keep things ticking over in midfield and provide the physicality he did vs Huddersfield he could even lock down a place. There’s nothing special about him right now but he’s keeping things simple, we did win a title with Cleverley lest we forget. Big game for Pogba if he is pushed further on – Hopefully get has an Everton like display and secures that role for the rest of the season. We need to get him close to Alexis – If they can develop some chemistry we’re cooking with gas.

There’s a few interesting choices for this game. Hoping he sticks with Shaw. CB is a toss-up in who misses out and then you have probably one from Mata/Lingard/Martial/Rashford. No way Lukaku is dropped and LOL at anyone suggesting he might be.

    De Gea

    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw

    McTominay Matic Pogba

    Mata Lukaku Alexis

They’re pretty shite but Benitiez would love one over Jose and they tend to raise their game at home to us. They’ll be up for it. An early goal and a red card for that creature in midfield would be lovely.

    1-3 United.

Is what I think the lineup will be. Mata and Lingard for Martial and Rashford will probably be two of the subs... no idea on the third.
I don't remember Mata playing on the left. Slightly intrigued to see it, hopefully, link up with Pogba and enough defensive cover behind him.

It should be very comfortable on paper. Newcastle aren't the same force they were under Pardew. I'm going for 0-3 win for United.
    Yes please.

Still waiting to see how Mourinho's going to fit Martial and Sánchez together, since the only game he even tried it was a complete debacle.

I want to see martial on the left. Lingard and Sanchez in the right and centre positions, interchanging.

    Why no Lingard?
I see your tagline is very well earned :smirk:

I want to see Martial from the left and Sanchez and Lukaku to obviously start. I want to see Martial and Sanchez tearing into the full backs from both sides. Lingard is in good form too, and is a very good #10, but he doesnt have the explosive pace and dribbling ability those two have, so I didnt want to put him on the wing. If it was upto me, I would have tried him as a false nine over Lukaku though.

I also wanted a midfield 3 to free up Pogba.

Yedlin gave us a tough game last time, I don't think we should be playing Sanchez on the left in this game, he won't want to chase him back and forward.

I would like us to try a diamond with Matic/Pogba/Lingard/Sanchez as the 4 midfielders, Lukaku and Martial up top.

Lingard is more than capable of playing as a box to box midfielder with Pogba. Having those 5 going forward at teams will be very difficult to stop.

Pogba in for McTominay will probably be the only change from the last match. I can't see Jose changing formation to 4-3-3 or anything else.

But in your proposed solution to the problem of not having anyone to chase Yedlin, who would do it, though, Pogba?

Anyway, that diamond formation ends up being quite close to a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 with Lingard in the rightcenter or rightwing.

I want to see a proper professional approach to the game. Lets take a strong team, get two early goals and make 3 changes in the second half.

    I'd go 433

    DDG
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw
    McTominay Matic Pogba
    Lingard Lukaku Sanchez

Then in the second half line up...

    DDG
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw
    McTominay Matic
    Mata Lingard Martial
    Rashford

Untill things change with regards to his current form, then Lingard should be an automatic starter, as he is just that darn good!

We could really do with an easy win, use the subs to build confidence in the squad and generally step up a gear or two for the games ahead.
    It should be DDG
    Tony-Smalling-Rojo-Shaw
    McTominay-Matic-Pogba
    Jesse-Rom-Sanchez

Use Rashford, Martial & Mata or Herrera to keep them sharp

Oh wait, it's Newcastles cup final, they'll Probably play like rabid dogs and make us work for every touch, tough game in the end and a scrappy 1-2 win
