Let’s see where we are at the start of the year. Until then, just stop watching or support the team and the manager

two points behind the mighty Newcastle with very important players still out
Thanks for the advice but I don't envisage things getting better under ten hag

We could support the manager if he stopped making obvious mistakes, Mctominay doesn’t have the legs to play 180 minutes of football in 7 days, Rashford's right now is such a liability he should be benched and why not get Varane in the side and play 3412 and make the team difficult to attack against, we are so easy to penetrate right now?

If it’s drab no attacking football, then don’t lose ?

….and in the player ratings, Rashford continues to win the worst player award, for what must be by now, a record number of games being voted worst player.

Mainoo has been very poor. I know he is a young player, and fans want to defend him. But to be fair, we lost the game because of our central midfield. And Mainoo was really poor today.

Feel for Mainoo. He has just come back from injury and needs games.

He was good in his first game because we were mainly on the offensive. He stillanaged a goal line clearance etc.

When pressed we have no MF support. Fred and Casemiro had this as does Amrabat (who has been poor imo). Main reason being that likes of Fred and Mainoo have too much ground to cover. Likes of McT and Bruno offer no help in keeping shape. They are off chasing shadows and getting forward, even when 3-1 up against Galatasaray. This allows opposition to walk through our MF. And likes of Mainoo and Fred being knackered.

On McT. Today before Newcastles Freekick , Newcastle had the ball. Mainoo was tracking Joelinton and moved with him, like inches away from him.

Just behind there was Newcastles Bruno. McT was a few yards from him, to his right. The ref was a few yards to McTs right. As the game moved Mainoo got closer to JoeLinton and what did McT do? He tracked the Ref leaving Bruno with space.

Rashford has been bad, but he has probably not been our worst man in almost every game. I would take these polls with some reservations. Some time ago, Maguire was always our worst player in these polls, no matter what he did on the pitch.

Best team won. They were fitter, faster, better coached, stronger and mentally switched on. United were two yards off the pace and Rashford should be ashamed of what he did or rather didn't do. No excuses, no doubt ETH will say that Newcastle had an extra day to rest and United's preparation was interupted by the Airport situation in Newcastle.

Damning indictment on Rashford’s defensive play when Martial gets shifted to the left wing to improve the defence
Rashford's contribution for the entire game was what? Ten Hag is hoping he will regain form but this season he has been a massive hindrance. Not contributing in defence, casually strolling behind his opponent, hoping they pass the ball to someone so he doesn't press...

And when he's on the ball? Option 1: dribble unsuccessfully or Option 2: pass to Bruno

Until we move on from Rashford as a key player in this squad, I don't think we'll become a coherent team. It doesn't matter if he scores 40 goals. He just doesn't look like someone who can be a fit in the system.

Newcastle just seem to have that extra fire in their bellies when they play us. They comprehensively outplayed us and fully deserved the win.

How the hell did Joelinton go from flop striker to a beast midfielder? Their best player today alongside Livramento, who were should’ve been in for instead of fannying around with Mount etc.
Playing striker like a midfielder, and meh with his finishing? He displayed just that this game with his finishing too. He's strong, quick enough midfield standard, great stamina, hard working. That makes a very decent battering ram in midfield. He's not the first. Dembele (former Tottenham player) used to be a striker in Dutch league (Won title under LVG). Flopped so bad at Fulham he got converted to midfielder, which he made a career of its for the rest of his career.

Great example. Joelinton was everywhere yesterday and we couldn’t get near him. Whoever converted his position needs a raise.

It seems to be Eddie Howe. And ironically this article implied his most breakthrough midfielder performance was against us back in 2021 after a few less impressive trial and error :nervous:

All our managers have the same problem, they are one dimensional. The have one (good) idea of football, but no plan b. They can not find a systemen with limited players. Pressing with Bruno, Martial and Rashford is a waste of energy. They do not work as a team, stop pressing and running the moment they are out of position. We saw this so many times.
A midfield with McT & Bruno +1 does not work, they both forget to move and find the right places at the right time.

And our team has the bad habbits over and over again. Low work rate, not team work, ...
