I wont. We need to bring back at least a one goal lead.
Me too. I’ll be disappointed with a draw - even though it isn’t the worst result, we should really be winning against these.

Not sure how to feel about this one. On one hand, it sets up like a perfect spot for a Mourinho special. Keep it tight, play for the counter and take back an away goal or two. On the other hand, we don't really seem to have any rhyme or reason to our play at the moment. I'd like to see us play a 3 man mid, don't lose the midfield battle and let the likes of Sanchez, Lukaku and Mata handle the counter-attacking. Save Martial for the last 20 against tired legs.

No Jones/Rojo means Smalling 100% starts. Does Bailly get thrown right back in, or does Jose put some trust in Lindelof? Odds are this is the team IMO:

    de Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Young
    Herrera Matic Pogba
    Lingard Lukaku Sanchez
    ---
Romero; Lindelof, Shaw; Carrick, Mata; Rashford, Martial

Hey Jose, just play Sanchez near the goal and pick the rest of the team randomly.

If we want to go far in the Champions League and prove to Europe we are a good team, we have to go in there and beat them. Simple as.
Betis put 5 past them a month ago, and they're not quite the attacking force they were a few years ago. We should be able to win both legs if we're focused and willing to exploit their weaknesses. I think we'll edge it in the end.

Easy game. Sevilla are not as good as they used to. Play well and score a couple goals.

The only problem with that line up is jones is injured. And you should have played DDG as a number 10.

I mostly agree. I do think two of Herrera, Lingard and Mata will start but not sure which two. Leaning towards Herrera and Mata at the moment.

The biggest surprise with Sevilla was seeing that Nzonzi still plays for them. The guy himself said he would not play there again.

    Did they change their manager?

Yup. Herrera alongside matic and pogba should be the go to midfield for big games (especially in spain), while for the right wing it'd generally be form picking between lingard, martial, rashford, Mata. Mata for his experience and composure should get in IMO. Plus has the best understanding with Valencia and Herrera and can help dominate the right side.

Can't wait for this game. To think that's it's been four very long years that we've been in the knock out stages of the champions League, hopefully it'll be routine from now on

I know Lindelof has been shaky but at the same time Mourinho seems to trust players based on past experience - Lindelof is both more familiar with continental Iberian style footie and has the CL experience. In other words - if its between him and Bailly I can see Lindelof getting the nod.

Leicester knocked these guys out last season. Liverpool were 3 nil up before half time. If we can't beat teams like Sevilla we have no business being in this competition. Let's take the game to them and try to get a good advantage for the 2nd leg. I'm already thinking about how many we need to score not just winning the game.

After having seen Tottenham, Chitteh and Pool having great performances, and even Chelsea playing ok against Barcelona, we all know that we will see a poor game tonight and a surprise can come from Sevilla.

Just thinking about our recent away games (and even the away games in CL this season) it has been horrible to watch.

A victory will do of course but I'm not too confident to be honest.

Let's hope for a 4-3-3 to have a better control of the ball because they will probably have the most of the ball and the tempo.

The key thing will be how we will cope with their pressing, how good our defense can give good balls to our midfield. If we have the control of the ball with Herrera Pogba Matic, then it will be fine, but if our defense will have to play first and difficult balls, then we will be in trouble.

    De Gea

    Valencia
    Smalling
    Bailly
    Shaw

    Matic
    Pogba
    Herrera/Mc Tominay

    Sanchez
    Lukaku
    Martia

Lots of questions will be answered today about this teams bottle.
If we can't turn up tonight, then there no hope for these lot.

0-0 away from home in the first leg is a shite result. feck that - let's go out there to score anyway.
Roughly two-thirds of teams that draw the away leg 0-0 end up winning the tie at home. It's a very reasonable result.

Well that % is about to drop.

I'm convinced we'll win comfortably. CL is different gravy, as we saw from Chelsea last night who have been underwhelming in the league, went up a couple of gears last night.

3-0 Sanchez brace & Lukaku. Bring it on

    They're 5th in La Liga aren't they?

We've been beaten by much shitter teams this season.

It's too risky. If you're 1-0 up at home in the second leg, the final 10-15 minutes are utter torture. Literally any goal you concede then is fatal. With at least one away goal of your own from the first leg, it's fair more comforting.

Hey, I'd prefer a fun game to a dour 0-0. But it's still not a shite result, based on statistics: in the clear majority of cases it's good enough to progress.

When you put it that way, it's just unbelievable for one of the biggest club in the world.
Yes it is,but maybe we should try enjoying these big European nights even more.Back in the day when we would sleepwalk our way through to the last 8,we never really savoured Europe,it almost became routine...

I've got used to know being able to go to away games and to be fair there aren't many places I miss after all this time but I'd love to be going to this one.

    Fecking buzzing for this!!

At work on a 12hr shift, roll on 1845 then home for the build up!

I hope it’s a good entertaining match and we get a few a goals, I just hope its not a Jose “ park the bus” snore fest!

A bit shocked so many expect Herrera to start. I rate him and think he'd do a good job in a midfield 3, but Jose seems to have frozen him out. McTominay has had more game time than him recently. Who knows, though, and maybe Jose will use him vs a Spanish club.

Hope Jose & company snap out of the doldrums, though. Very flat & not very cohesive since the Alexis acquisition.

    Would like to see:

    De Gea

    Valencia
    Bailly
    Lindelof
    Shaw

    Herrera
    Matic
    Pogba

    Sanchez
    Lukaku
    Martial

I'm sure we will see Smalling, Young, Mata, Lingard and a two man midfield though.

Would love us to come out and try and blow them away, but I'm expecting something a bit cagier... 1-1
