Without wishing to sound over-confident, it's hard to see where their goals are coming from. Clement will likely play for a 0-0 or squeaky 1-0, can't see him playing attacking football - we're gonna need to hope Mkhi, Pogba or Mata can unlock their defence and feed Lukaku.

Wouldn't expect Lukaku, Mkhitaryan, Rashford, and Martial to all be in the same lineup. They would lose the ball almost all the time. Mata will be in there or it'll be a midfield 3.
The rest of the time they create an opportunity.

The rest of the team can soak anything Swansea have.

So far away I get up 4am to just watch Utd on TV
Did you see our first goal against West Ham? Nothing but directness from Rashford, followed by a superbly timed pass to Lukaku.
No don't get me wrong, you are absolutely correct ... Rashford was amazing

Thankfully we have two fantastic young players on our hands. Ideally, it'd be great if we can fit in both, but the both seem better either on the left or up top. You'd expect Lukaku to always start providing he is fit, so that leaves the two fighting it out for the left position.
I have to admit I was a little worried about what seemed like an odd "attitude" from Martial at times last season. He seems to have come through that nicely now though. It will be hard to take Lukaku out of the equation, much like it was hard to move Ibra, so alternating starts between Rashford and Martial might bear some fruit is all I was saying. Both were ready to attack and yes, Rashford's vision and touch to find Lukaku cannot be overstated!

Rashford did everything the other day apart from score. Hit the post twice (I think) and made some very good runs. Like I said, Martial is a fantastic talent, but after Rashford's performance, I just couldn't see Mourinho dropping him.

Martial will get plenty of time. That said, if we get Perisic, it could see one of them with a lot less minutes.
Rashford worked hard alright and was mighty unlucky not to score but there were still some signs of him still making some poor decisions especially in front of net. We will see Martial make the same mistakes but in time I'm hopeful both will become great assets for our club.

As for Perisic, it has been sounding like he's coming to Utd for some time now and yet it's still not a done deal?

Did Martial and Rashford do enough on Sunday to make Jose re-think that option? Hard to say, but if Perisic does join us, you may be right, and there'll be less time for the young lad(s) which would be unfortunate imo.

This I fear will be a recurring theme. Even more than last season teams will park the bus and pray. Our job will be to crack them open and with any "Luk" :smirk: Romelu will deliver!

Looks like they're about to lose their best player before this match.
One less threat from set pieces to deal. It is because of free kick last season we ended up drawing the match.

People might be a little overconfident because we did so well in the Hammers game. Clement is a good reacter, he'll have seen what we were doing in our last game and he'll have ideas to disrupt it. Of course, he doesn't have many good tools for the job, especially without Sigurdsson, but still. I don't think we'll win this one 4-0. More likely a traditional Jose 2-0.

We shouldn't just do exactly the same thing, either. Keep it fresh. Drop either Miki or Mata for Herrera and push Pogba even higher up the pitch into a genuine #10 role. Or try Rashford on the right and Martial on the left at the same time - there's a romantic in me that loves the idea of that. fecking terrifying prospect for a back line to deal with Martial's dribbling, Rashford's pace and Lukaku's bullying all at the same time.
Pogba that far high the pitch in a 10 role hasn't worked, not even once. It's a waste of time and should be forgotten. Every time it's been tried it's a catastrophe and Pogba plays awfully.

Pogba needs space to operate and pick passes thus he's comfortable just behind the attack.

I've read that Llorente is back in training but I am not certain of the quality of the source.

I've got a few mates who are Swansea fans I'll try and find out what they know tonight.

I'd like to see Martial rewarded for that great cameo and given a chance from the off, we'll see if Mourinho shares that opinion. Just think we might need his superior dribbling skills against a tighter defence than Rashford's pace.

So Sigurðsson is off to Everton and Llorente is out with an injury.

We really should be thumping them.
No Ki either, who always seems to have a good game against us despite being fairly average the rest of the season

The issue, for me, is not so much when we're playing 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, since both Martial and Rashford can fill the leftwing pretty nicely, even if Perišić would be helpful as an outside option against bus parking.

The real issue is in 3-5-2, where none of them could play leftwingback, only as forwards, and he'd have to rely on Lingard or Mikhitaryan, or one of the leftbacks (Shaw, eventually, Darmian if we're very optimist…).

Didn't know the Liberty Stadium looks like that from the outside as shown in the OP. Tidy little stadium.

I reckon this'll be relatively straight forward, and a good test for our away form. Completely different kettle of fish for United, it seems, in recent years - we can't find form both home and away simultaneously. Good start with both will help, 2-0 United.

It'll be the same team. No reason to change after such a positive performance, and against relegation candidates away from home where we also played 4-2-3-1 there last season (it worked well). But there'll still probably be the usual uproar about Martial, possibly Herrera and Lindelof not being selected.

Not true, we didn't play 4-2-3-1 there last season, we played 4-3-3 with a midfield of Fellaini-Carrick-Pogba.

Specially with Herrera, one of our best players last season and who supposedly refused Barcelona, Mourinho must be tactful.

He'll get more than enough games over the season, but Sunday certainly showed he's not essential in all games. He can't do either the Matic of Pogba roles as effectively as them

I could see a bit of rotation, with Herrera being brought in. If he does it will most likely be due to a system change rather than as a replacement for Pogba or Matic.

Yeah I think Herrera or Fellaini will come in for Mata.

And maybe Darmian for Blind. Rest remain the same.

So far as we know, he's not essential only in a midfield two at home against a lesser team… and providing Matić keeps these kind of performances (highly unlikely). I've been convincing people here earlier in the summer that some games in a midfield two Matić would take over Herrera's place, but now it seems I have to play devil's advocate.

Just to try out our entire squad and find our best 11... Imagine if this team can also win by a 2-0 or a 3-1, Mourinho will have so many options to pick and choose from.

I think a lot of people are getting ahead of themselves by suggesting we make wholesale changes, granted we strolled the West Ham game but lets not get complacent - there's no easy games in the EPL and we should treat this as serious as any other.

I'd drop either Mata or Miki and bring in Herrera to strengthen the midfield, other than that same team should play in my view.

Why on earth would we make whole sale changes? Same team again, please.

We should reward Martial, with his goal and assist, by starting him. Rashford isnt struggling for confidence. So rotating him wont have an effect. But if you dont reward Martial with a start after a good cameo, then his confidence levels wont go up.

This is key, he absolutely deserves a start he literally couldn't have done anymore against West Ham. His involvement in the Pogba goal was absolutely quality.
