If it’s true Rom is starting not too surprised, called it earlier in the week. Personally I would have hoped it would have been Lingard dropped but Rashford and he will give you more defensive work and hustle than Martial so it makes sense.
I suppose that no one will be all that surprised given that you constantly post that Lukaku should start, you seem more interested in him starting...

It shouldn't come as a surprise right now that Ole prefers Rashford to Lukaku up front, and that he wants to focus on building the team around him. Based on opposition we might start with the two and play Rashford off Lukaku, or we'll bring Lukaku on as a tactical change.

Bit of a challenge for Lukaku, finding himself in a position where he has to reclaim his starting spot, hopefully he'll make it a difficult choice for Ole going forward

I am relieved to see that Lukaku has not been given a starting position; instead Rashford is preferred.
I am still worried that Lukaku will eventually replace Rashford.

And Phil Jones....He needs to sold so that whoever in charge simply cannot put him in the team.
I think if Lukaku replaces Rashford under Ole, he would have earned it so no worries about that. In fairness, Lukaku at his very best, can be devastating. Unfortunately, we have not seen much of his best at United.

Today he'd have set up not to concede. Probably would've started Darmian/ Valencia instead of Shaw, Fellaini instead of Pogba, Sanchez instead of Martial and Lukaku instead of Rashford.

Even if he doesn't become permanent manager here, I think Ole has won the respect of many United fans as a good manager.
That's for sure. I don't see us not conceding with our defenders and their attackers, Hopefully we'll play on the front football and not sit back for 80+ mins.

If he does replace Rashford it will be because he's deserved it. Why is that a problem?

I don't understand some of the negativity in here... Winks and Sissoko in midfield is average as hell. We should be confident in controlling the midfield really. If we do so, then easy game imo.

Great stuff. Itll be a hard game anyway but seeing us approach it in the right way is the main thing. If we lose, not the end of the world.

This isn't our best XI. Not with Jones starting.
Yes but we do have injuries to the rest of the defenders, there's a clear indication of first 11 possibly changing jones for smalling.

Average on paper, maybe, but they provide a perfect balance for their attacking players, as do Matic and Herrera. It's not always about having the best players.

Winks and Sissoko have been fantastic of late.

Think we can match them today. Use the width to our advantage and bully them in midfield. Our CBs need to have a fantastic game though

I love what OGS has done for the players the past couple of weeks but we still have severe problems at the back and I'm not very confident for this game.

Rashford, Martial and Lingard are good players but Kane, Son and Eriksen will cause us infinitely more problems and theres no way our defense, especially with Phil Jones in there can handle that.

Not to be overly pessimistic but I cant say anything other than a Spurs win.

I dont know why but I have a feeling we can win this game. BELIEVE!!! c'mon United!
I have the same feeling and I know why:

    Momentum!

We have it in spades at the moment. Momentum is massive in football. A lot of our players are gradually peaking and gaining more confidence. If we get the same first half we got against Spurs at OT, we will bury them this time around.

    No smalling? Injured?

Definitely would have started him against Kane.

Feel like Jones will give away a penalty, probably against Ali.

I think we just have to accept that our defence is crap and go out with the attitude of trying to outscore the opposition. If Dave can pull off a few world class saves we've ever chance.

In the past, we approached these games with the wrong attitude. We were almost beat before kick-off. Now, that we have a bit of confidence and belief about us, I expect us to give a good account of ourselves today.

I've seen LVG pick Rooney, whatever the cost, much to the frustration of the fans. LVG got fired due to a lack of goals.
I've seen Jose pick Lukaku, even though Lukaku was missing chances, was/is overweight and in no condition to play games.

With the above in mind, I am worried that Solkjaer will end up playing Lukaku, regardless of his form.

And the Phil Jones problem remains. Today, I expect Jones to be Spurs' best CB!

    Delighted with the line up.
Do not take a step back. Puts a stake in the ground that says we are Man Utd and our players are better than yours and I trust them to deliver. Dying to see how we get on today.

Still think spurs are a better team than us right at this moment but this is great marker from Ole

That may be so. They are still not as good as our midfield. Pogba will dominate Winks/Sissoko. I don't see how everyone can be scared of that midfield.

I've gone for 2-1 to Spurs, Jones with OG'S.
