Watford Football Club (nicknamed The Hornets, The Golden Boys, Yellow Army, and The 'Orns), are a professional football club based in Watford, Hertfordshire. Watford Rovers was formed in 1881 by Henry Groverand, who went on to play for the club as a fullback. Rovers, originally composed entirely of amateur players, held home games at several locations in the town of Watford. The team first competed in the FA Cup in the 1886-87 season, and in 1889 Watford won the County Cup for the first time. Renamed as West Hertfordshire in 1893, Rovers joined the Southern Football League in 1896, and started to pay professional footballers in 1897. West Hertfordshire merged with local rivals Watford St. Mary's in 1898; the merged team was named Watford Football Club.

After spending almost half century in the lower divisions of The Football League, Watford enjoyed its greatest era of success following Graham Taylor's appointment in 1977, rising from the Fourth Division to the First Division. The team also finished second in the First Division in the 1982/83 season, competed in the UEFA Cup in 1983/ 1984, and reached the 1984 FA Cup Final where they faced Howard Kendall's Everton. Watford's most prominent rivalry is with fellow South-Eastern English club Luton Town, and they have been playing their home games at Vicarage Road since 1922.

Will be a tough game. Silva did beat us with Hull in one of the League Cup semi finals last season.

I think we'll go 4-3-3 for this one, just switch the tree in for Herrea if he's fit, just looked like he was carrying a knock near the end so I've put Ander in.

Tough midweek fixture to have. They’ve been impressive this season and will be desperate to get one over us here.

Still, expect us to leave with 3 points.

Drop Martial, Rashford back on the left, Fellaini in midfield alongside Pogba and Matic.

Or go 352 and match Watford. It's difficult as we need to be rotating some of the players.

Didn't City give them a spanking? I mean, they're a good side under Silva but they're still Watford though.

Next 3 fixtures are pretty awful for us. Won't be an easy game this, and then the game after is away to Arsenal and then home to City. Expecting 4 points, would be happy with 5, anything more would be great. My guess would be win here, lose to Arsenal and draw to City. Anyway, can see us using:

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Rojo Young
    Fellaini Matic Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Lukaku Martial

Will be interesting to see how Mou will set us up for this game. I can see a 3 at the back being chosen to counter Watford, but surely we will have an extra man in midfield as our balance today was bad and our midfield non-existent in defensive phases.

Yep, Watford were in good form then aswell, yet citeh still pumped them, yet according to some, best we can hope for is to scrape a win if we're lucky, but they'd take the point now ?? Whats that about ? People need to raise their expectations, & leave it to Jose to get his team to meet them . That's the whole point of him being here...results, ie, wins, & these are the games we have to win.

1-1 or 1-0 to us. Watford are doing great and Jose will make sure we don't lose first. Expecting Rojo to have a beast of a performance.

    Jose could go 3-5-2

    1. Tough game
    2. Stability with midfield trio
    3. Playing 2 attackers allow us to rotate one of Rash/Martial
    4. Rotation is key here, to prepare for Arsenal
    5. Strong bench option with Zlatan and one of Rash/Martial

No idea how Jose will rotate Valencia Young.

Game plan is to keep it tight and nick a goal or two

Just play 3 in midfield with a back 4. Drop Rashford or Martial from the starting line up. Bring in Fellaini in midfield with Matic and Pogba. Now the main issue is Mata or Mikhi. I would bring in Mikhi into this game for the simple reason Mata will be a liability in this game. If Valencia can handle the Brasilian they have we can win this game.

We'll need to be much faster and on our toes on this one, but I don't get the pessimism about it though. They play open game and that will suit us perfectly. We'll win.

Will show us how far we’ve come. Lost this game last season and they are a better team this time around

Might need a 3 man midfield. At this point, Fellaini would be more visible on the pitch than Mata or Mkhi anyway, so what is the point of playing with a #10.

I think some are overrating Watford. Yes, they are good, and Silva is tactically astute, but nowhere near as scary as is being claimed. If we can start Rojo and Smalling, with a 3 man midfield, our defense would be fairly comfortable. Only big if is whether our forwards turn up. They seem to score 4 in one game and immediately regress to being unable to create a single chance in another.

Think we will win this. 2-0.

From what i’ve seen from Watford so far is that they are a well-drilled team and have lightening counter attacks. We need to be wary of their counters - I think Rojo will be key and will play this one. Unlike Newcastle and Brighton, their players have been tucking away chances and are more in confident in front of goal right now. Having said that we have enough quality to get a result. Depends on how Mou sets up especially in view of players that played yesterday and his plans for upcoming fixtures. My heart says that we will squeeze a win but my head tells me a draw.

Think this will be a 2-1 to United. All teams are in the same boat regarding the frequency of games this week, so not even going to bleat on about rotating players etc.

A very tough game for us against a team in form managed by an excellent manager.

A draw is the likeliest result but I think we'll snatch a win.

Sort of game where my heart says we will nick it but my head looking at it objectively thinks we should lose this (not playing too great, against a guy who nearly had our number in the league cup, side in form, we always struggle vs Watford and playing away from home). Win would be fantastic result, would settle for a draw.

I'm not expecting a win here considering our latest performance and Watford form, the thing is our next three games are very much will decide whether we will continue challenging or we will be in top four battle again, hope we don't drop points before the derby but 2 very difficult games ahead. Hope we create more and be more brave.

We need Lukaku to go on another run, Watford have a worse home record than both Palace and Everton so its obvious they're suited to being an away side.
It may look defensive but we can't play attacking football and play into their hands as they seem to struggle to break down stubborn defences.
Id go for a 2-0 away win

Watford are 2nd in the most sprints table this season. And top 6 in the one about distance covered. Which means that United have to put in more effort. Work rate should be excellent in the next theree league games.

Gonna be a tough one, we should be winning this but if it ended up a draw I wouldn't be surprised.

The kind of tricky game against a good team with confidence, where we suddenly will play well and win 2-0. We will frustrate Watford defensively and punish them on the counter, and we also have a better squad to bring in fresh legs.

Be very impressed if we get a win in this, shows where both sides are currently.
We are 2nd in the league, now clear of Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and, of course Watford, with a significantly better goal difference, scoring more goals than all of them along with having the best defence in the league. So that’s where we are, despite the doomsaying.

Yep, it is evident we struggle against high intensity teams, we should really be matching their effort at very least if we are to win this game.

The way they are playing I wonder if he’ll just play for the draw and block it off. However if we open up and they play like they do it could be a cracker of a game and just down to who is better.

We can't afford to play cowardly in this game. Maybe we will be cautious and try to score on the counter but if doesn't work out we will go for it and take risks. We'll play more defensively vs Arsenal though.

Getting a real Stoke City away vibe here, as in we're going to drop points. Watford are brimming with confidence and will come at us, guaranteed.

    -----------------------DDG------------------------------
    Valencia-------Smalling-----Rojo--------------Darmian
    -----------------Fellaini------Matic---------------------
    ----------------------Pogba-----------------------------
    Mkhitaryan------------------------------------Martial
    ------------------------Lukaku--------------------------

SUBS - Zlatan (Lukaku), Rashford (Mkhitaryan), Herrera (Fellaini)

    Watford 2 - 2 Man United
We'll equalise twice, Lukaku and Rashford.
