  1. Jean-Clair Todibo | signs for West Ham on loan with option to buy

Great stuff! I think the ability to win aerial duels are greatly overrated in open play, but of course significant factor on set pieces. Open play is so fast, I wonder if how tall a CB is really impacts the outcome of an aerial dual in open play more than 5 times per season. Have Martinez lost...
  2. Jean-Clair Todibo | signs for West Ham on loan with option to buy

Can I just ask, where did this notion come from? Must have seen 20 games with Nice this season. JCT is 6’3 and strong in the air. Have never seen him have any issues aerially in 20 games.
  3. Joao Neves | signed for PSG

He is deceptively fast for sure, it’s a legitimate question in relation to a kid build like him. But he is not only quick for shorter distances, his speed is an asset when covering longer distances too.
  4. Oscar Zambrano

By my math, we will in principle not be limited by FFP next summer even if we miss the CL. I.e. we could theoretically spend app. 400-500m without player sales. The FFP limiting factor is the new Squad Cost Rule which limit us to spend more than 80% of revenue on our squad. But if we buy...
  5. Joao Neves | signed for PSG

For City, never. But Pep has always been married to the idea of having a stationary No 6. He has talked about it numerous times explaining how it’s so hard for a GK or CBs or full backs to under pressure make a good pass to a No 6 that always is moving around — that he wants his No 6 to not run...
  6. Joao Neves | signed for PSG

I am convinced of that size — at specific positions — is very overrated in today’s game. This is not to say that size on the pitch is overrated, you need it to defend set pieces. And it’s not entirely easy to fit it in if you don’t have it at CB/perhaps CDM/Striker. But a team that play a state...
  7. Striker options?

This kid just seems to be so hyped, scares me a bit. Fabrizio is always hyping him. Transfermarkt values him as one of the most valuable strikers in the world, worth like twice as much as Nicolas Jackson and the likes. Just seem to be some real pump-and-dump play going on behind the scenes. He...
  8. Striker options?

Just by coincidence, I’ve seen him play a lot over the years (while checking out other interesting players for the Red Bull teams). His goal scoring record isn’t great — but he has always been an impressive player who just haven’t really ever put it all together. I don’t think he ever will...
  9. Striker options?

That is a good shout! What I like about him the most is his poise on the ball in the penalty area. You’d want him to be a little stronger physically, but it would be refreshing to have someone with the poise he has on the ball who you can count on making open chances count.
  10. Striker options?

We have been linked with very few names despite reports of ETH looking for a more experienced striker that can take some heat of Rasmus Hojlund. Timo Werner shouldn't really be an option, I think he is the only name mentioned. Who is out there in say the up to 50-60m range? Some players I...
  11. Martial exit?

Good suggestion, but does he beat out Moffi for a spot there?
  12. Joao Neves | signed for PSG

Watching a replay of the Benfica-Sporting game. Can tell you this, Joao Neves is the type of player you really fall in love with and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was ETHs top pick of all non-mega stars out there. Short, like 5’8, too big shorts, shirt tucked in, tree trunk legs, low center of...
  13. Ivan Toney Pt.2 | Signs for Al Ahli

I think is a bit hard to read. On the pitch, he is very focused, works hard, and just has a lot of consistency in his game. That take professionalism. And he has taken the long road with 150 L1 games, even 50 in L2 and a season in the Championship. He is also very poised on the ball when he get...
  14. Jean-Clair Todibo | signs for West Ham on loan with option to buy

He is very good across all ‘actions’ so to speak from what I’ve seen — but my biggest concern is his footwork/mobility. He is definitely not slow, but comparing him to like Varane, Militao, Rudiger and co.
  15. Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2023/24

Where is that rumor coming from? We could have spent a lot more this summer if we had sold Harry and/or McTominay. But money and FFP space was very tight. Next summer it looks much better on both fronts. You of course never know with the Glazers, but we have usually spent a lot on transfers...
