£200m net without CL money to help fund it?Highly unlikely.

It will be Lukaku out and either Bruno or Dybala in. If Pogba leaves (doesn't look likely at all anymore) then we may get both.

No way were we going to solve every single problem area in one summer.
Maybe we have tried and not been able to....but we should really have raised quite a lot of cash and got wages off our books moving on several players this transfer window. One of the big problems we do have is actually having a big squad of medicority either from performance or abilty. 2/3 of 7/8 outs could have been simply replaced by youngsters like/Greenwood and Tuanzabe to in my opinion as back up options.

Agree on your Dybala/Fernandes/Pogba scenario. Though we are playing a double pivot, I do think it will be abandoned at some point this season and back to the old 4-3-3....and that is where we may really regret not signing a defensive midfielder this summer I feel, we dont seem to have been linked with any bar Longstaff either

Again to reiterate, I asked you to not lose your shit about not signing Fernandes. The fact you think that Fernandes should be signed to replace Herrera tells me all I need to know about your understanding of both players attributes and influence on their respective teams. Fernandes is a #10. We obviously need midfielders. I'd rather overpay and bring in a quality #8 or #6 to replace both Matic and Herrera than buy more mediocrity to fill numbers. Wasn't this your question in the first place? I still think Gomes has real quality and should be slotted in as an #8.
He is a multi functional player, he has all the abilities to function as a top notch 8 as well.

Dybala is a 10 too, and we don't need a 10 naturally, instead we should could have signed a winger instead of him as well. Bruno is not a defensive liability, he can pas from the midfield and also control the play, he plays as a 10 in Portuguese league doesn't mean he is only a no 10 and can't function any where else.

Pogba is a 10 too right as he is clueless defensively still played as a 6 and 8 multiple times.

Your assessment of Bruno is not correct in my opinion.

Real wanted Pogba or Eriksen. I don't think they are getting Pogba this summer. They will wait for him and we may add Savic next summer for Pogba. Makes sense for Eriksen to go to Real instead. However, I really hope we secure Fernandes before Spurs go all in for Bruno to replace Eriksen.

Willing to bet quite confidently right now that we won't sign Savic next summer, I doubt he's even on our radar.

Duncan Castles has said that all the talk about Bruno and United has been fueled by his agent and United have never even made contact with Sporting. I will believe we're in for him when Simon Stone says we are.

Di Marzio has said we are close and he is more reliable than those two.

You may just as well wait for the club to officially confirm a signing

Speculating based on some tweets/rumors is the fun part of the transfer forum :)

Now that Matic has turned into a statue of himself, I really wanted Idrissa Gueye. There were reports that our interest in him was holding up his move to PSG. Now that we've missed out on him, I hope our second-to-none scouting network has identified a similar alternative.

If Pogba stays and Dybala joins, I don't see Fernandes joining -- unless he's willing to sit on the bench and watch Pogba and Dybala play in his preferred positions.

Did you watch the game vs Liveperool? Liverpool fans were climaxing over his performance and saying not to leave the US without his signature.

Him and Perreira are on 2 different tiers completely in terms of quality.

Klopp as well congratulated him on his great performance where he was easily the best player on the pitch for both sides.
I belive all his involvements are there for everyone to see, so why ask Liverpool fans about it. I´m not saying Fernandes isn´t a good player and wouldn´t be a great contribution to the United squad (I do hope he´ll be signed); I´m just saying him alone might not be the difference between United ending 3rd or 6th. Based on his last matches for Portugal, I think there is a chance people have too high expectations. I´d like to see how Pereira or Fred would do in the Portuguese league.

Simon Stone is pointless. By the time he says it's done we might as well wait for Norwood, who would only be a few minutes later than him.

If Pog stays and Dybala joins, there will still be room in the team.

You never know Fernandez might actually prove a much better asset than Pogba in terms of his overall performances and what he offers to the team.

Or he could be overhyped and struggle in the PL.

I do find it funny how he’s suddenly spoken about on here like a guaranteed success and he’s the answer to our prayers. I want the bloke, but the hype is ridiculous now.

We still need a set piece specialist to whip crosses onto Maguire's head. We need this guy.

Why would Utd NOT sign Fernandes is what I'm asking at this point?

He seems a better fit if Pogba stays and if Pogba goes as a direct replacement as a number 8.

If we're genuinely not in for him it would be a major shock. I'd want him more than Dybala. Dybala just seems like a Woodward signing and a reaction to the market rather than a pre planned move as part of any strategy. Bit like Fellaini or Mata. Taking them on big wages simply because they were available.

PSG signed Gueye for only £27 million. Why couldn't that be us?

I was only hoping in terms of potential drive, consistency, commitment etc. Sorry if these sound like wishy-washy platitudes and I didn't mean to sound like I was jumping the gun either in terms of how successful he might be.
