If you factor in inflation these amounts would be:

Figo, 2000, 37m would equal 61.1m GBP in 2018.
Zidane, 2001, 46m would equal 74.7m GBP in 2018.

Also, for reference:
Beckham's 2003 transfer for 25m would be 38.8m in 2018.
You can't just use inflation as a measure of previous fees and current. Things like revenue also need to be taken into account.

For example:
Zidane for 46m was 38% of their total revenue for 2001-02
Pogba for 98m was 15% of our total revenue for 2016-17

He's not at all. He's saying they are and aren't interested. Covering all bases. He knows feck all and is just trying to drum up some attention.
Surely he won't say anything his masters don't want to.

But he's not even saying anything substantial.

Good point. They wouldn't want to lose face by saying something that wasn't true and have it proved to not be true.

You haven’t factored inflation into our revenue :)

Seems he s trying to.force the Glazers into lowering the price.
Tbf he looks a bit a pompous arsehole
I don’t think anything this guy says or does has any impact on the Glazers. Just like any other BS merchant he’s now backtracking.

Any updates? Too lazy to check because I'm Scottish
It seems there is some backtracking, saying that you have to be patient to be successful, and they’re willing to pull out if the deal is not right, or something along those lines..

I've probably just been added to some FBI or CIA list for even reading that tweet.

So basically crap to start with and now they're pulling the same rubbish reporters do when they have no idea what's going on? Braw.

That's an absolutely staggering amount of money. Outside of oil states is there anyone who can realistically buy us, that price seems a lot even for the uber wealthy?

For a family that's worth 1.2 trillion this must be like buying a new pair of adidas trainers. Insane

God Man United being run without debt would be amazing. One can only dream but I very much doubt it would happen.

Looking forward to Jose's thoughts if we get oil money owners :D
You think oil money owners will want him? I say theyll want a Pep type. None of the sugardaddy billionaires have bought clubs with the vision of playing defensive football

In business terms that’s nothing

AT&T recently brought Time Warner for $109 billion!

If this rumour were broadly true, wouldn’t United have to issue a statement? Listed companies can ignore false rumours but would normally have to respond to a correct rumour of this type. So, unless the US rules are very different, this story is about as genuine as MBS’s “Salvator Mundi”.

Only if the stock starts to trade irregularly

If the target's stock trades irregularly because of acquisition rumours, the relevant stock exchange may require that the target confirm or deny whether it is engaged in negotiations.

Time Warner is a much bigger company that generated 19bn last year, their net incomes are in billions while for United it's in the dozens of millions. In that context 4bn is an awful lot.

Obviously they have to but is it really enforceable? These guys could discuss the broad parameters of the deal and when you see them confirming anything it will be as good as done.

My opinion on this is that with recent results and the fact that if we have another poor finish, sponsorship money will take a huge hit, the Glazers would likely jump at the chance to sell.

Yes we still make a lot, but if things keep going south, the clubs value will take a hit and commercial revenue will fall too, meaning they wont be able to leach as much from the club. Theyd likely want out so they can go buy another brand/club and continue their parasitic ways.

Glazers will feck off, we will be debt free, we will actually be able to use all the money that we generate on ourselves. Saudis will want to make sure that the club is at the very top of the pyramid, so they will employ top of the top experts. Feck Glazers, feck Woodward, feck leaking roof at OT, feck languishing midtable, feck shitty and scousers.
