I remember being at that 7-1 game and on the way in I saw a big crew of guys (I won't say United fans) kitted out in black with ballys on, clearly on the hunt for Roma fans in retaliation for what happened in Rome. These weren't just little scallys, they were big fellas. I remember thinking afterward that the 7-1 might have actually helped matters, since the United fans all went home satsfied and the Roma fans were just dejected. A close game with aggro on the pitch and a late winner for someone might have really made things kick off that night.
Yeah I remember there being a firm out for revenge. I don’t think the rivalry is totally one sided, a lot of United fans still hate them especially after the one sided treatment from their Police, some more footage of what happened in Rome here for anyone who doesn’t remember..

Didn't he come with 7 elephants or something like that?
20 war elephants I think

I just remembered thinking back they were also pretty mad at Sir Alex for disrespecting Totti I think it was in one of those games. Sir Alex was giving praise to De Rossi and a few others in their team and he didn't mention Totti and I'm sure I remember reading people were annoyed at that.

A sensitive bunch!

Faintly remember something about a stabbing around a United vs Roma game.
A quick run through google made this come up. 3 Middlesbrough fans were stabbed 10 times.

We played them twice (group stages and quarter finals) the next year and we again qualified. I can see why they dislike us

I've always had a soft spot for Roma, especially in the Totti days. Saying that, I am hoping for another 7-1 whooping

I work for a life long Roma season ticket holder and i play football every week with another huge Roma fan. Never heard them say anything bad about us. I think this is just the media talking shite ahead of the game.

The 7-1 clearly left some scars.

For them it was their biggest European humiliation. But for us, it was Wednesday.
It sure did. That one goal they scored still irritates the hell out of me.

On a side note, I think the Roma fans may be a little envious of those actually having something to protest against ("it´s not fair, we want to protest too").

You s**t Man Utd should have lost 5-0. Over hyped and over marketed EPL and Man Utd. Over hyped and over marketed EPL and Man Utd. Over hyped and over marketed EPL and Man Utd. I can't believe you believe the s**t they sell you. HAHAHAHA Serie A is the best league in the world. The EPL is a beer league. If you like watching drunken fools run around with no purpose - the long-ball along with kick-and-run football - then you watch the EPL. If you want to watch quality players use there minds and technical skills to beat their opponents then you watch Serie A. You English fans are stupid alcoholics - you just don't any better. It's mindless entertainment - the lowest form of football. English mothers drink when they carry their children and as result you all have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome - all retards. The classic argument that you use is that the EPL is the most entertaining. Watching little kids play football is also entertaining, but it doesn't mean it's the best. Most of the best players from countries that actually have good players play in Serie A. This includes countries that actually win at international competitions such as Italy, Brazil, and Argentina (not overrated countries that never win eg. England and Spain - you guys are s**t). This is because the South Americans along with everyone else in the world hate Anglo-Saxons - the people are miserable, the country stinks, the weather is terrible, the food is a disgrace, you have no culture, and the EPL is horrific. Italy World Cups-4 vs. England-1 (fixed). Italy Euro Championships-1 vs. England-0. Italy Under 21 Euro Championships-5 vs. England-0. Total Italy-10 vs. England -1(fixed). England is s**t in more ways than one. Spain's record is even worse. The numbers speak for themselves. Serie A has dominated for 50 years, and now that people are starting to pay attention to that sh** football played on that miserable foggy rock you call England you think you're the best. Finally, if want a measure of the quality of European leagues league then look at the Champions League statistics. Once again, the numbers speak for themselves - Italian teams have been in the final 24 times and English teams have been it 13 times. THE NUMBERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES - YOU GUYS ARE S**T! Italy is the king of FOOTBALL, fashion, art, culture, history, design and architecture, cars, motorcycles, food, wine, luxury items, opera, ballet, etc. Italy has La Dolce Vita. England has the S**t Life. England is the king of nothing - GARBAGE DIRTY PEOPLE. I'VE BEEN IN YOUR HOMES. I know some stupid English person is going to comeback with argument about violence and corruption in Serie A, but don't be so naïve - take it from me - it happens in all leagues, including the EPL. Why do think your keepers are so bad - they take bribes from gangs and officials. HAHAHAHAHA (P.S. get used to this one because I'll cut and paste it until every member of your garbage race sees it).
u okay hun? I assume this was meant to have quote markup in it

Even Stoke think they have a rivalry with us. It’s hardly something new.

There was granted quite a bit of bad blood but mostly from the violence off the pitch in 06-07.

What? Which goals do you reckon the goalie ought to have stopped?
1,4,6,7 The keeper was too far off his line. For 2-0, he was to slow to leave his line, but it might be debatable if he had the chance to react.

Whoever reported my copypasta from 2007 should be ashamed of themselves. One of the most quality rants I've ever read on any forum.

Ole is a dangerous man. Sexism, racism, child-abuse and now elitism! How dare he not have personal in-depth analysis on every team he may or may not face in the future!

 How did people not realise that was an ancient quote.
Even my response to it has disappeared.

The mods let all these wank troll newbies post endlessly yet they delete the decent bits of humour from established posters, lame.
