feck me. Never thought this would happen. The signing works given that Ole has built a decent squad - cherry on the top.

Adding on a few more details (not a copy-paste) from above posts . They essentially say that Ronaldo to City was virtually imminent yesterday.. before Chief strategist Fergie and Co. finally "woke up" and went about a last ditch hijacking in the final 24 hours.

Agents SAF, Rio, Bruno, Evra, Ole,

Fergie:
Heart of the Strategy. Ferguson is described as playing a “major role” over the 24 hours, phoning Ronaldo, and using his good relationship with Jorge Mendes. He repeatedly pressed Ole to make it happen. He called the United Board to ensure they were doing everything possible "or all hell would break loose" among fans and beyond.

Rio: Almost acting as a broker on behalf of United. Had a passionate conversation with long-time United team-mate, who was genuinely inquisitive about the impact moving to City might have on his United legacy. Counselling Ronaldo over hurt seeing him joining City might cause, set against the joy that returning to OT would bring him and United fans. He's also close to Woodward and made sure United were informed over the financial details. He was still up at 1.30am, sending messages to get the deal moving.

Bruno: Pressed his Portugal captain over phone and text

Evra: Exchanged voicenotes/messages on WhatsApp

Ole: Personally interevened, having also realised he couldn't allow a legendary figure like Ronaldo to go to local rivals without a fight. Long term damage to the club in the eyes of fans and future recruits. Looked at benefits of bring him back: the comeback story, the ultra-professionalism he would bring, etc. He called Woody to hijack the deal, who then agreed instantly to start negotiating.

Rooney: Possibly had a word to Ronaldo as well (article is unclear on this) hence his confidence when asked yesterday.

Woodward: Quick and effiecient negotiation with Agnelli - (the pair having grown closer during the planning for the mooted Super League  ). Glazers also saw it as a Brady - Tampa move so was given the green light.

It was an avalanche of affection that worked. It is believed Ronaldo had given his word to United by 10.30am that morning, before Ole's presser. Current squad are reportedly ecstatic to see him join!
Wow! What a moment for the club and fans.

Ah lads this day has been absolutely mental.

The second Rio dropped those eyes and Ole hinted at it the adrenaline was mad.

Cant believe how much we’ve transformed as a club. The attacking depth we got now must be one of the worlds best, surely...

But the main thing is how to fit Donny in the midfield!

Does anyone think there’s anything to read in the current squad reactions via social media so far? I haven’t seen a reaction from notably Pogba.

I’m inclined to think no reaction is a sign of not being too happy or about to leave.
This is how ridiculous narratives get created out of nothing.

Holy feck

I woke up and saw the banner on redcafe and was stunned. I just read up on everything.

Surely he's getting the #7 right? It'd look so weird if he didn't have that number.

I honestly can't believe he's back. I never thought he'd come back.
He never wanted to come here, right? Just blind fanboys and their silly dreams, worthy of as much ridicule and disdain as you can think of

I'll admit I was wrong

I never thought he'd come back honestly. I was literally stunned and in disbelief when I saw the banner on redcafe.

I just realised my reaction to the Villareal game was sinking to my knees head in hands in despair and when I saw the Ronaldo confirmation earlier I fell to my knees in utter utter joy and disbelief and excitement with tears of joy in my eyes.

Then my 7 year old came home from his friends and I got to tell him Ronaldo signed for United out of the blue and ending up doing laps of the back garden with him in my arms throwing him up in the air. While he loves Ronaldo hes had to listen to me for years reminiscing about how great it was seeing Ronaldo play for us and now he will see it as well, its utterly mind blowing.

Oh and teaching my 2 year old to say Ronaldo has been great fun as well.

What a day.

If anyone wasn’t able to follow this, check out the transfer thread from about midday onwards. It was absolutely mental, refreshing every few minutes and it felt like there was a new development. Never seen anything like it.

Did I miss some big news today?
Feckin hell! I just got home and happened to check the Beeb’s website to see what was going on in the world.
1st question; is this real?
2nd question; is it ok to be really excited at this?

I must be relapsing, I really thought Murtaugh and Fletcher took over last March
By all accounts and just by the tenor of the way we're doing our business (very little frills or fanfare), they did.

Particularly the younger posters (or those who aren't familiar with certain foibles of 'big business' - and that's absolutely not a bad thing) won't know that being the 'point of contact' in a deal doesn't necessarily mean that you're heavily involved in the planning/implementation.

Already signed.

Is this what it feels like to have footballing people making decisions.

It's midnight and I've been buzzing since Ole's presser. The prodigal son returns.

Not sure I'm sleeping tonight

When you think what it was like, what you were like, 12 years ago when Ronaldo left....can't help but get emotional and get nostalgic. Everything was different and hopefully, it was a little bit better than current circumstances. For the past to be in front of you in the present is a total mind trip.

As many have said, it's so fecking surreal. Two of his former teammates are part of the coaching staff, obviously Ole the manager and Carras an assistant. Mike Phelan is still here! Then you have Fergie.

When Ronaldo is on the pitch and the camera pans to Fergie as he's sat in the director's box. Cannot believe this and cannot wait until everything is finalized and confirmed.
