We are pants at football and even worse at recruitment. That was yet another horrible watch. No energy, speed or passion. Some of those players are not fit to wear the shirt and I suspect EtH is now toast.

I would be MAD AS HELL at Erik Ten Hag if I was any United player that played today, except for McTominay.

They fought a lot, especially in the second half, and Erik sabotaged entire team by bringing McTominay for Mainoo, which caused both goals and had us play with essentially one man down.

Absolutely unforgivable idiocy.
And what the hell were they all at in the first 45? I didn't see the fight you're talking about. Desperate, slow, conservative shite, no Intensity, no personality. Just horrible stuff. I don't excuse Erik, I blame them all. Nigh on unwatchable until it all kicked off in the ladt 20, then just a different kind of shocking.

It’s at a point where you have to laugh to avoid pure anger, I think we’re past the point of saying ETH has to go and just accept that this is us for the season as I don’t think he’ll be sacked until April/May even though this is the lowest goals and point tallies for us ever in the PL era at this point of the season.

Only good thing to come out of today was Diallo looked far better in the time he was on the pitch than Antony has looked all season so hopefully we’ll give him a long run on the right as he can’t be worse than anyone else other than Garnacho against Villa, we were so piss poor today and I hope Brailsford absolutely hammers the players in his note taking.

Why did he take Mainoo off for McTominay? He rarely makes changes at half time and then decided that was the right call. McTominay was no where to be seen in both of their goals, Mainoo would have been in that position on the edge of the box.

It’s criminal to keep playing McTominay as a deep midfielder. He then decides to move him forward in desperation when we are 2-1 down. Ten Hag is showing signs of having no clue how to resolve the situation.

The standards of the club are so low that Ten Hag should have been sacked halfway through the CL campaign and we probably would have made the last 16, instead we missed out on lots of money and now struggle to afford paying him off. Just the usual clown show.

Mainoo had done nothing in the first half. I can see why ETH wanted to try something else. But McT was just as bad as Mainoo
He hadn't, but Forest had decided to put Gibbs-White on a man to man with Mainoo.

So, instead of giving him support, we persist with this suicidal midfield set up. Made worse by having McTominay in there.

The level of change needed is frightening. We need a whole new recruitment system. We may need a new manager and coaching staff depending on how much time you want to give the current lot. We need a squad overhaul the likes of which we probably can't afford. And that's without remembering who is still ultimately in charge. Over to you, Sir Jim...

Fitting way to end what has felt like a miserable year with a miserable performance. The better team won on the day, not because they were anything brilliant today but because we were just woeful. Having said that, after we fortuitously grabbed an equaliser, we should never have got caught on the break like that and go on to lose. We should have grabbed 2nd as well, especially Eriksen with the last kick of the game.

ETH better hope that the returning players in January actually do turn our fortunes around otherwise he’s utterly screwed, because we are apart from a flitter of life now and then, lifeless and showing no quality.

On a brighter point, welcome back to Amad. Thought he was pretty good.

Horrendous performance but so predictable as all of our away games are.

I could have predicted Gibbs White would be man of the match before the game. Basically did.
Gibbs White and Elanga will cause us big problems. Another away loss I think.

IMO Amad is already a better winger than Antony and Garnacho. In fact, the main reason I'm going to watch now is to see Mainoo and Amad play. These two are proper football players and we need more like them.

I hope Garnacho becomes good but at this point I see a definite ceiling for him. He doesn't really have break away speed as he usually gets caught from behind by quick defenders. He gets bullied off the ball to easily. If he drastically improves his decision making and makes better passes he could be pretty good. I just don't see a world class player there.

McT for Mainoo and not taking off Eriksen with 20 to go were both really dumb moves by ETH.

This lot are rotten to the core, weak mentality almost as if they are playing under duress. Schoolboy defending, a lack of creativity all over the park. Not surprised at all. Got what we deserved. The manager will no doubt be put out of his misery soon but those shithouses that step on the pitch really need to be held to more of an account than they ever are. We'll undoubtedly rinse and repeat when the next mug gets hired.

Even with injuries, illness setbacks, we should be battering the likes of Forest. They are relegation fodder.

The Mainoo injury made it look like we were playing with 10 men. McTominay couldn't lay a glove on anyone, Erikson is too weak in the middle of the pitch, chasing shadows and ducking out of 50/50 challenges. Bruno trying to play 3 positions and failing at all of them.

Garnacho was our biggest threat again, but he was running down blind alleys all night with the same outcome every time.

And the fact that we did try to score until we'd conceded, shows some sort of messed up mentality.

Can't defend ETH on this one......absolute horrible sub......all the Bruno supporters stick your stats up your arse...he's a fecking pussy and the worst captain Utd has had since I've watched them.....just a brain dead wasteful twat....lets NF get the break and doesn't track back.....feck off.....this club rewards mediocrity hence why McT is still here. Send him off to the MLS.
He dived after a tackle towards the end rolling the floor when the ref played on he jumped up and ran so nothing wrong with him. They were on the attack and this could have cost us

New owners in to make sporting decisions, probably time to make one then.

Inconsistent Man United very much seen in the last two games. You simply can't trust that group of players to show any level of consistency this season.

Wetting themselves on Sky about how "great" Forest was in reality they were clinical with two goals two shots on target but they very much played their part in the lowest quality game I've watched this season.

FA cup up next which is basically all United have left to play for this season. Wigan will hardly lose much sleep tonight watching United in action.

We’ve lost loads of games where the home team raise their game and driven by their fans manage to cause an upset. They were dreadful tonight and had to do nothing of note to beat us. Embarrassing.

Feck off... Erik, ffs, if you want to go down with McTom and Eriksen then just do it. Just don't ever change anything. Working really well for you

This bunch of overpaid feckers don't let me end my year on a high. Congrats to Nottingham, I hope you go down.
Why are you taking the piss out of Forrest? It’s up to United to field a team that should beat the pants off an abysmal Forrest side.

I know this is rawkish and maybe that is were their mentality came from in living in this situation for years but this season is a write off we need to accept, we have to hope the new sporting ownership can change everything next year, unfortunately it is all we have got.

We expect this team to get a good run of consistent wins in a row?

A keeper who can't save shots not aimed directly at him but can play world class passes. Bought for 50 million?
A right back whose only trait is tackling 1 on 1, and terrible at everything else in the game
A good center back who plays 1 game then gets injured for 5
A center back who is 35 years old and shouldn't be our best player but somehow is
A right back playing left back who is genuinely relegation level quality
A midfielder who can't run for more than 20 minutes after almost dying on the pitch 2 years ago
Mainoo - God bless, good quality
A captain who whigns more than he makes successful passes
Garnacho - God bless, still young but frustrating
A striker, who wants to play left wing, but the 19 year old kid is better, but doesn't want to play striker, doesn't run, doesn't press, jogs around. Gives food/books to kids so he's always good in PR. Oh and on 350k a week because he had 3 good months last season
Antony - Who I am not sure is even a footballer. Does a good fidget spinner impression for no reason. Bought for 80 million?

Cheers United, happy new year.

Has anyone got any info on what injury Mainoo had? Or was this 'tactic' again? That sub lost us the game. Doesn't look like we have any hope of top 4 as it is. Might as well rip it up now and start afresh, starting with a new backroom hierarchy in place. It's obvious this coach isn't taking us anywhere. Get a new one and start the Ratcliffe era.

Nottingham Forest 1:0 Man Utd - Dominguez (64')

Nottingham Forest 1:1 Man Utd - Rashford (72')

Absolutely shocking defending from Evans for their second goal. Pathetic

Just a lack of quality all over the pitch. Nobody in the front 6 doing the basics well.

I pretty much look at our games as an evaluation of who we have that's worth keeping around and who we can have hope for going forward for when we eventually sack Ten Hag, because there's no use in looking at any team/system dynamics with him in charge.

From that perspective, Garnacho even when he has an off day, still keeps going and can come up with a very good assist. Nice to see. Amad looked very good as well, and made some very good decisions to go with his obvious technique. And beat his man to take a shot quickly like a normal winger should do. So positive points there!
Garnacho, Mainoo, and Hannibal are the only ones who should stick around. Everyone else needs to be binned.

Those of us who have pointed out the Mctominay isn't good enough for a top Premier league team are proven correct. We are no longer a top Premier league team.

Copenhagen and Galatasaray are nothing special and we conceded 7 goals in 2 games against them. A manager who could create a functional set-up probably would have got 4 points in those 2 games which would have been enough to qualify.

If the teams swapped shirts, you would think we are relegation fodder, we are that bad. Right now we are one of the worst teams in the league and are Manchester United in name only.

Getting beat is OK if we play well but getting beat like that is totally unacceptable each and ever one need to be fined 2 weeks wages.
One or 2 or 3 should NEVER again wear a Unted shirt, contracted terminated and told to feck RIGHT OFF !

Game after game of shit on a stick football for the most part and I always say to myself I’m going to stop watching for a bit. Then a week passes and I can’t help but watch again. Think I’m done now though. Going to actually try and just distance myself from anything Utd.

Never a good idea to discuss a defeat mins after the final whistle but it's quite disappointing again. How many times do we hear 'we've turned the corner' or 'we must be more consistent' only to go back into mediocre play? I don't want to call for the manager's head but ETH really needs to be showing more after 18 months. Am clutching at straws with some of the young players coming through, the odd comeback win where we look exciting, and the crazy injuries, but it's becoming increasingly impossible to defend Antony and we never seem secure at the back. Forest have a new manager bounce, fine, but we were never in control today or seemed to have a clear idea of how to attack. Transition year? Maybe but one has to wonder if there's patience to see the ETH plan through (am assuming, of course, he has a shared vision that he's working toward, it's really hard to tell some times)
