Has Casemiro ever played that advanced before? He's definitely shown an eye for goal at times so it could be an interesting one but it'd be a bit surprising for me personally if we saw him play the same role Scott has been filling.
I don't think he has but considering his performances lasts season and some of his late runs into the box I think he can excel. Having Mainoo as the deepest player will actually bring out more of that from him and give him a bit more freedom to possibly contribute more goals.

Agreed. Casemiro just isn't a first receiver in midfield for a team that wants to play out from the back, but Mainoo has the ability to be that player.
I think so too. With Martinez coming back we'll get to see even more of Mainoo's ball playing ability and composure on the ball.

A bright spark in an otherwise miserable, miserable season.

Then she sucks on my balls
I've been waiting for the new Seedorf since...Seedorf. Arguably my favorite player to watch of the last 20 or so years. Maybe we have the heir apparent.
I actually commented something similar to this a couple matchdays back I think called him kobie seedorf his style reminds me soo much of him :)

Absolutely crazy to think he is probably another 8-10 years away from being at his peak level.

Impressed with him again but he didn't do enough to catch the commentators eye to mention him more so I can see why no MOTM. This lad has such a great future ahead.

Really don't see resemblance of Seedorf here.

He's exactly what i imagine FdJ would've played here.

Mostly looked good tonight, but needs better players around him to pick up his slack, namely his lack of pace. Oddly he showed some speed to get back and stop that chance middle of the second half, but there was a turnover later on where he just stood around instead of chasing the attacker and they broke as a result.

We’ve hit the jackpot with this kid. Top top talent in a position we will be crying out for in the coming years

He's showing up a few of the pretenders around him in that team. Good showing in an otherwise uninspiring match.

Looked alright against crap opposition. Not seeing the fuss right now. Decent midfielder.

Yes, probably the MotM. What a calm, intelligent and elegant player he is- quite extraordinary for an 18 year old. I noticed what a tough unit he is to get past , too. While others have mentioned him being a bit slow, I believe that’s only on the sprint, really- once he gathers pace he can shift fine, and anyway relies more on his intelligence and positional nouse to compensate for a slight lack of short distance speed.. Part of the long term spine of a team that I hope we can build here with a bit of adroit buying.
Love him.

You feel safe seeing his name on the team sheet...ridiculous when you think he's only played a handful of games for the first team.

Wonderful player.

People keep mentioning his pace but I’m pretty sure he’ll look quicker once his body matures and he gets more stamina. We’ve seen it countless times with young players, even Garnacho’s been looking more explosive recently as he adapts to playing men’s football week in week out.

So comfortable in possession, always looks like he has time, its early days but he looks to be one of those rare rolls royce type midfielders.
So glad we have him.

His chart on datamb is interesting although it's currently a small sample size. Defensive actions and duel % are what stands out and you can see it during matches. Not much ball carrying at the moment but hopefully when he gets stronger and more experienced it will develop.

His pace is fine for his position. Brilliant player in the making. Excited to see him with Casemiro if the latter is able to find last season's form.

Hes better than he is currently showing combination of lack of proper midfield partners, manager shackles and lack of experience holding him back. I think hes actually wasted as the 6
