Leicester absolutely slaughtering these. The only positive for Wazza is that he's had a shave and doesn't look like he's pushing 60 any more, because this could easily be like 8-2 already.

Leicester make so many openings. They make passing look easy

when they play them with pace they do, getting better and better at doing so sometimes is too slow and useless
They look like a well coached team though. Makes me jealous watching teams who can speed up play when the want and slow it down when they need.

Due to Amad going on loan there, I kept up with Sunderland last season and, because I enjoyed their football so much, I still am keeping up with them this season. They have a lot of players I enjoy watching. The standouts being Patrick Roberts, Alex Pritchard, Dan Neil and Jack Clarke for me.

I think the Mowbry sacking was harsh, and it seems like Sunderland fans agree. They made that very apparent against Coventry. The new man - Michael Beale - is already being booed. It reminds me a bit of when Rafa Benitez managed Chelsea. Apparently this was just another thing in a long list of grievances they have against their current owners.

Roberts gets a lot of stick for his end product but I just see him on the right, beating players for fun, and I'm like I'd take him at this point. Especially after the way he linked up with Amad last year. He may turn into Weghorst inside the box, but, outside of it, he's a breath of fresh air. I really think Sunderland fans should appreciate him a bit more than I see them do on their forum, which has an insanely high activity rate, by the way, but I digress!

Enzo Maresca is looking like a very good manager at Championship level. It will be interesting to see how much money he will get to spend in preparation for the Premier league.

Actually Maresca is the first one (except Tito Villanova RIP) from all the people that worked with Guardiola during the years who is following his footsteps tactically and as an man management. Ten Hag learned a lot from Pep but like Arteta had own ideas about football even before working with the Catalan.. Maresca learned from Manuel Pellegrini as an assistant first but Guardiola is his ultimate example and guiding light into coaching.. i really hope this is just the start of may be a great managerial career..

Top two clash at 19.45 today.

Fascinating old league is the Championship, Middlesbrough down in 14th are only 3 points off a Hull in play off place at 6th. Think it was similarly tight last season too. That parity (pl teams aside) really means that teams like Luton have a shot of making the play offs and going up.

Just catching up on scores now. Defeat for Leeds, draw for Ipswich. Leicester are coming right back up barring capitulation. Looked obvious after a dozen games or so, defensively too good for the division.

Will be interesting what they do should they/when they do come back. Looks like they need forwards on paper.

If Sunderland had a good striker, I think they'd get promotion. That was their problem last season, too. They create the chances but rarely have anyone to finish them off. I liked Gelhardt last season but he was poor in front of goal. I thought Simms was very good for them but was recalled by Everton too early to make that big of an impact.

Starting to look like the relegated teams could easily come back up. Southampton have looked excellent recently and I'd fancy them for 2nd. Leicester have won the league already. Then Leeds and Ipswich have the possibility of 2nd too but I feel will just miss out. And if they do, you'd fancy either team to win the playoffs.

4 consecutive defeats and shipping goals for fun. We are garbage right now.
Only going to take a run of three or four good results and you'll be back in playoff contention, it's really tight from 6th to 15th.

Leicester are making a mockery of “the hardest league to get out of in the world”. The standard is average but also proves that Rodgers did an awful Job with getting Leicester relegated.

Rodgers was absolutely awful but the media loved him & he escaped criticism .

Leicester are better team then at least the current bottom 3 in the Premier League so it's not that surprising.

Enzo Maresca is doing one hell of a job at Leicester right now. It will be interesting to see how his style holds up in the Premier.

Anyone seen a fair bit of the lad Rowe at Norwich? Only seen a few games but he looks a tidy player who a few may have a eye on?

Clarke from Sunderland is definitely ready for a step up. He's too good for this league. Rumours of Lazio being interested in him now.

Glad I’m not at the Swansea game tonight. Much easier to stomach being 3 goals down at halftime when you’re watching it unfold in bed, and not shivering in the stadium.

Despite conceding a million goals so far, Southampton achieve promotion comfortably, quote me on that come the end of the season.
I wouldn't be putting money on that unless they change managers quickly.
What makes you think this? I see no suggestion whatsoever they will go up 'comfortably'.
When I said that Southampton were 9th, and coming off a 5-0 loss to Sunderland and a 1-4 loss to Leicester (and lost their next 2 games too). They’re not going to catch Leicester so ‘comfortably’ was too strong a wording, but I think they’ll finish second above Leeds (who are in top form themselves tbf).

Edit : Typical that as I say this they’re in for their first loss in over 25 games

He’s excellent. I did a list last year of championship players I like and think he was first on the list. Just a really fun player to watch, and as well as being a goal threat he’s a strong creative passer too. Like you said too good for the league really.

Do people say that? If they do surely it’s more about teams who haven’t come down from the Prem, as the wealth disparity and parachute payments mean you have clubs that are constantly going up and down. Teams like West Brom and other yo yo clubs are always doing it.

Fair play to a degree as they have improved massively, much more than I thought they would. I think they will finish 3rd and go up. But aye, I still think to suggest they will go up comfortably is fanciful, though not nearly as unlikely as it was back when you posted.

The Leeds situation at the moment is a win-win from my perspective. On the one hand, it would be good to see them back in the Premier League as I look forward to our games vs them a lot more than the likes of Southampton and Burnley. On the other hand, if they finish outside the top 2 and lose the play-off final then that would be delightful. Anything to get their feral fanbase worked up.

I think how they respond to tonight will be really important, as when Martin was at Swansea there was a few instances where the team went on a really good run, but when that run was broken the side basically went on an equally bad run. With the form Leeds are in (who looked really good tonight, albeit we were shite) Southampton really can’t afford any slip ups, so their game on Friday will be quite telling imo.

I broadly agree. I think Farke's style of play is far more likely to provide consistent enough performances to finish 2nd. The way Saints play is so extreme in one direction or another. Considering the quality they are up against in the Leeds squad (and a talented manager with experience at this level) I can't see them being quite good enough - in part for reasons you give.

That’s really interesting, I’d never given it much thought as to why Martin at Swansea tended to have a lot of peaks and troughs (outside of the squad being mediocre), but that makes a lot of sense, and I agree fully now thinking about it.

So now the top 3 are the relegated clubs and aside from Ipswich (who are collapsing) nobody else is close.

Southampton in 3rd are 12 points clear of West Brom in 5th. Leicester are 26 points clear of 5th and 12 points clear of Leeds in 2nd.

Quite sad.
