Gives me Darren Fletcher over teenage Ronaldo vibes.

And in that case, Fletcher later prove why the manager liked him that much.

Pellistri and Emeran seem to have so much more about them, and have a much more visible impact at the minute

Was just about to give my opinion of him when I realised I'd already posted most of it on the thread earlier in the summer, so I'll change it a little.

As others have said, I suspect he'd have got less time had others been available and he's mostly benefited from that rather than because he's very highly rated.

I see him as similar level to the likes of Savage and Iqbal, and expect him to be sold to similar levels at some point. Like those, he looked reasonably good at younger levels but has never really looked in that tier above that I'd class the likes of Garnacho, Mainoo, Pellistri, Hannibal, Amad...

I was hoping he'd show something more playing alongside better calibre players but he didn't step up his game at all, and actually seemed to play more within himself and take the easy option rather than looking to take on his man or get a shot away as he does in the youth levels.

I don’t think he’s done too badly. He was a real handful vs Dortmund before the gaffer hooked him for the confrontation. A strong handed move from ETH for sure, hope it doesn’t dent the lads confidence.
He was largely anonymous today though sadly, and I would agree the likes of Amad, Facu and Emeran look far ahead in their development. I wouldn’t expect to see him feature for the first team this season.

Wouldn't read too much into that, Amad is injured and would have got those minutes.

Not bad today as a sub, could have scored and at least contributed to Hojlund scoring chance.

What a game to come into, passed him by a bit, but he'll learn what he needs to do if he wants to play at the very top.

A really small sample size but an interesting option off the bench. Looks like he's got some pace.

You've got to give Forson some credit for Mainoo's goal. He raced down the middle and completely pulled the central defender with him, allowing Mainoo lots of time and space to pick the corner. Nothing fancy, but he was working hard and moving into space - things not enough of our players do regularly.

Looks like he's our emergency striker option - didn't seem to have a clue what he was supposed to do though

Looked a bit over awed by the experience.

But he made a good contribution to the winning goal, so there is that.

A bit lethargic for a kid coming on for 10 minutes... hope it was just nerves.
Yeah, he was good on our final goal. But, couldn't seem to be bothered closing guys down when we were trying to see out a one goal lead. Strange from a young fellow as they usually bust a gut in that situation.

He did well for the goal but is he just being played to sign the contract extension? Isn't he out of contract soon or was it someone else?

Hopefully we can get his contract situation sorted out, wouldn't want to see him walking out the door for free in 5 months time.

He's not first team ready, but I think we're justified in giving him a 3 year deal and looking for a loan in the Championship next season and then see where we're at.

Yea I believe in the summer. If he was smart he'd hold off signing the contract a bit longer to keep getting game time.

Just a shame it means Amad isn't getting his chance.

Had an impact vs Newport, and an impact again yesterday. He was quite a bright talent in the academy set-up, developing into a very different player than he seemed when we just signed him.

He doesn't seem to be as creative and skillful, but seems strong and well composed in central areas. Would extend his contract.

We've tried extending but he's not agreed terms yet.

For those that interpret his energy levels as being of its more his style of play for me. His a laidback character anyway from what I’ve seen or judged and his very considered in his play.

Doesn’t run or press that much, coaches in academy games can be heard encouraging him regularly, so people will have to get used to him having to develop in this area.

Yeah, re-watching the goal he does nicely to hold it up and then dribble in a tight space to get the ball back to Mainoo, then immediately identifies the right run and drags the defender. If the defender hadn't seen it, Mainoo probably slips him in. 3 good things in like 5 seconds.

I can only assume this is the reason he's been given a runout ahead of Amad in the last couple of games. Seems fairly proficient on a technical level and isn't as short and slight as Amad.

Looks like he might be the emergency option down the middle if Højlund and Rashford aren't on the pitch. It's not ideal, but I doubt Martial will kick a ball for this club again.

Just realised that Forson technically made an assist for Mainoo winner.

People can’t seriously be calling that an assist or at least giving any value to it. It’s even less meaningful that Nani’s ‘assist’ for Rooney’s overhead kick or whoever passed the ball to Ruud for his goal against Fulham.

Why is that so? By technical meaning " an assist is a contribution by a player which helps to score a goal" he did contribute to hold the ball and went past couple of players and passed(i didn't see if its tackle that took the ball away, but with what i saw it looked a pass by Forson) it to the scorer, so it should be counted as an assist. Not trying to be smart or anything, apologies if it looks that way, but technically that's an assist and its going to give him confidence, with this team i would rather see these little things done by our academy players, which gives immense pleasure of watching us.

For anyone who has watched him more extensively in the youth team, how big a talent is he?

The fact we are bringing him on in important moments to try and get him to extend his contract suggests he must be pretty highly regarded.

He's ok. I imagine he will go the Elanga, Mengi, Pereira, Garner route though. However, you never really know because occasionally we do tend to hang onto one or two for quite a while (McTominay, Lingard etc).

I thought he was reasonably good at youth levels, but didn't think he had enough about his attacking game to be one of the few who establishes himself in our first team squad.

I certainly wouldn't have predicted him to be ahead of Amad at this stage, and getting genuine PL minutes as a teenager. I'd have put him at the Emeran, Iqbal type level where you can see they have technique, but don't really stand out as being anything special or likely to make it here or an equivalent sized club.

So he's already achieving more than I'd have predicted. Maybe that's just circumstances, and he's benefitting from our attacking issues and will drop off when we can address it properly in the summer? Or maybe I've really undervalued him and, like Mainoo and Garnacho, he'll take his chance and show enough to establish himself with us going forward? But he never seemed at the other two's level to me (or Amad's and Hannibal's, or even Ethan Williams), so I'm less confident about that.
