Such an important player in this team.
Offers so much on that left side - great touch, always tidy on the ball, progressive passes. And so good at timing his runs.

Shaw and Licha back in the team just improves everyone around them.

Bloody gutted for Licha but grateful for Shaw slotting back in without any rust.

He’s an excellent player. Think he should possibly move inside one to cover Martinez.

He's been brilliant the last 2 games.

Him and Martinez add so much to the backline and ball playing ability of the team. You van maybe cope with one out, but having both out and that left side becomes a mess. Not surprising to see Rashford pick up a bit once Shaw is on the wing behind him.

Missed Licha today and missed Shaw second half. They are two of our top five most important players.

Hoping this isn't a bad one...the thought of Amrabat/Lindelof at LB is terrifying

We need a new left-back. It's ridiculous that we persist with a player who misses, on average during his time here, 20 games a season.

What's the average without that long lay off due to a leg break?

We need another, yes. We won’t find better than him so he should stay and compete for his place when fit. The drop off when he’s out is horrible. And yes, he is out too much.

Taken off as a precaution. Thank God. He's so important to us.

We should try sell after the world cup. Think we've seen the best of him and should cash in while he still has value.

Said it in another thread but if we got a big bid for him, I wouldn’t think twice about selling given our financial position. I think he’ll have to move to centre back over the next year or two. His injuries, body type, starting age, all scream early decline.

On first glance you see Maguire/Lindelof playing and we are so used to seeing them in a United shirt you don't think it's a big deal...but if they are playing it means half the back four is missing and its effecting the team massively.

Hopefully Shaw isn't out for too long.

Hope it was just a precaution. If he's out for any length of time it will be dark days without him or Martinez in the team.

Great player, completely unreliable though. Need to start phasing him out.

Hopefully he's not injured, because without him and Martinez, we aren't the same team.

That’s a skewed metric.
What's the average without that long lay off due to a leg break?
14/15: 21 games missed

15/16: 51 games missed (leg break season)

16/17: 38 games missed

17/18: 25 games missed

18/19: 8 games missed

19/20: 27 games missed

20/21: 8 games missed

21/22: 20 games missed

22/23: 8 games missed

34 games so far this season. He has been unavailable for 20 of them. So in 4 of the last 7 seasons he has missed 20+ games.

Shove your metrics. Club needs to move on with a stable left back that helps build a stable backline. Not a good left back who misses half the season and we struggle to adapt when he's gone.

Yeah, it would be dire missing both.

Taking him off at the break, when the game was very tight is not a good sign, but thankfully there is a full week until our next game.

It's a real shame because if you look at the bolded seasons, they were his best

That's insane. I love him but yeh, need to be looking at getting someone in that is actually consistently available.

Yeah, I’ve always liked Shaw. One of our best players post Fergie Imo but it’s clear his body is starting to fail him. Should start looking at a long term left back from the summer.

With Martinez out for 8 weeks we can't afford to also loss Shaw to injury so fingers crossed he's alright and will play against Luton.

That’s good. At least he’s learning.

Not worth risking one half to have him out for a month or something.

Calm down lad, I agree with you  .

But wanted to know how it was based on without the big injury as that tells a better story and is better evidence.

That was 9 years ago ffs.

Luke Shaw is unreliable. It’s madness we let Regulion go.
Ok, where am I disagreeing?
It was just a question, you can calm...

Very glad it's a precaution but it is frustrating because when he's on form he does make us a lot better.

People get really defensive about him but if you look back at the likes of Irwin, Neville, Evra, those guys were playing 40 sometimes 50+ games nearly every season, and in modern times you have the likes of TAA for Liverpool and it makes such a difference to have a full back that's quality AND is rarely ever injured. It's hard to build a team around players that feel like they could be injured at any moment. I include Varane in this too.

I agree and think this is for the spine including the midfield. You need that consistency and availability

A notable difference when he came off. Very good player but unfortunately, not reliable.

I said it in another thread that our priority, along with a midfielder and attacking player, should be a left back.

We need a new top class left back, and we can use Shaw as a back up, both at left back and left centre back.
