Hands up, it’s all looking very impressive and in the right direction so far and I was definitely favouring the Qatar bid. it’s refreshing to see he has some serious control, a plan that’s had some serious consideration, you can tell it’s not been a quick process, he looks to be allowed to do it without any friction or lethargy from the glazers.

Optimism.

It lends itself to apartments perfectly, developers are looking for anywhere within a reasonable distance of town and the tide of apartment buildings has pretty much reached that area coming through Hulme/Ordsall and connecting with the original apartments around the Quays, if you can charge a Kings ransom to live in Hulme imagine what you'll get when you can offer views of the upgraded stadium or views of media city. I know its not gentrification as such but i find its getting a bit depressing, maybe I'm just jealous.

Oh they’ll definitely be accommodation included in the development. It’s an essential aspect of any such planning I imagine and there will be rules about insuring they are included to allow the full amount of monies to be made available to the project.

I'm not sure if it was on here or somewhere else, but I saw someone mention developing the quays so that you could walk to OT along the water from the city centre. That would be incredible and I wonder if there's anything like it in these plans.
That would be for Manchester City Council and The Bridgewater Canal Company/Peel. It’s not the best walk as it stands, but you can walk there. It just needs access improving near the stadium.
Call me cynical but I feel these exciting new plans will involve little more than luxury apartments, maybe with a mural of some bees nearby. It's inevitable really.
I’m sure Rio and the Qataris would have done a far better job.

In fairness to practicality, hasn’t Jim said this was basically agreed a year ago and were working out the legalities of it all?
I wouldn’t say this is quick, we’re just seeing a years worth of work being presented to the world in a short period of time

I was one of the biggest supporters of the Ineos bid, but they are definitely exceeding even my expectations by far, and I'm sure that's true for everyone else as well.
Absolutely. The fact they went across the street to the current treble holders and took their main guy shows the respect they command. Can you imagine Murtough and Arnold trying to pull these moves?

They would have got lost crossing the street.

Holy hell I hadn't seen this.

Absolutely hyperbolic nonsense. I wasn't in favour of a partial sale either but this was daft at the time and has been shown and hopefully will be shown to be more daft.

He wanted Qatar and lost his head.

Wasn’t a fan of the minority purchase at first, I have to admit - but SJR and his Ineos team look to be working at break-neck speed to fix many of the issues at the club. In so doing they are making the Glazer’s look even more stupid. No way is he doing this to further enrich the Glazer’s. He’s definitely got a game plan to wrest overall control from them and eventually oust them, it seems.

He probably got swayed by the promise of being debt free etc. He definitely is more positive about it now at least. Not his finest hour.
Thats sort of the dumb shit I'm referring to. A lot of top clubs have debt and are run well. There was nothing to suggest Qatar would run Manchester United well as a football club, just that they'd throw money at it.

He has such a dumb approach to the game, and he peddles fake narratives to influence global fans.

Hes obligated to change his tune now because he realized he was a mug. There's 1000s of examples of his idiocy but thought I'd flag this as one since it fell into the thread.

Man if we manage to land the Newcastle fella, I’d start believing again.
INEOS are building an impressive backroom, Utd fans have been complaining about it for a decade.

Its nice to know they’re listening to the fans.

Given that their bid meant we're still in massive debt and the Glazers are still the biggest shareholders, then as one of their biggest supporters surely making sensible appointments in key positions is the absolute minimum you'd expect, otherwise why were you supporting their bid?

Like many others, I'll hold my hands up. I was wrong about INEOS and Ratcliffe. Very impressed with the people he's hiring and the plans to develop the Trafford area. Dan Ashworth was someone I already knew a lot about before we were linked with him, and I'm very excited by the prospect of him joining. Things are looking very bright for the future, especially with our 3 wonderkids in Hojlund, Garnacho and Mainoo looking set to explode in the coming seasons.

I can’t pretend I knew much about Ineos or Jim Ratcliffe, or that I knew what to expect of them coming in.

But speaking for myself, I was just happy that they weren’t a state. My order of preference was:

1. Absolutely anyone else
2. Keep the Glazers
3. Disband the club
4. Become state owned

Twitter muppets/incels and Goldbridge are one thing, but let's not forget that the majority of this board were willing to throw away all principles and forget the criticism of Chelsea, City, Newcastle etc for a shady guy from a shady regime who has 3 existing pictures online. I've never looked at our fanbase the same since.

I think most wanted a full sale and sjr offered the Glazers a way to prolong their stay at the club. But yeah many wanted the Qatar bid but in all fairness I think it had more to do with getting fully rid of the Glazers than anything else.

think other 'sportswashing' clubs becoming successful had a bit of influence, too

seems like Ineos are matching what Qatar promised, but such levels of debt could scupper best laid plans

Yes probably for some and that just shows what standards our owners have set. But yes it's just likely that some just wanted a owner who would flood the club with his cash instead of talking it out of the club.

Pretty impressive. But then again, Ratcliffe business accumen is nothing short of impressive. Glazers and his thinking are world apart. It still might not work to full extent or take years to build on what we are seeing, but the way he went into all this brings optimism.
