To be fair, I'm more impressed by that than his low xG shots. He's like Ronaldo, shoots 25 times per game and scores every third game and then people go "wooooow".
In a club that creates more openings and has him receiving the ball higher up the pitch that would result in a lot more goals to be fair. I think in a couple years he'll be at a better team and scoring goals.

He really did hurt his development though and it's all on him.

I totally get that some people hate him and want him nowhere near the club. But anyone denying his footballing ability is deluded

Until he proves otherwise they really aren't.
Have you not seen any of the clips of his recent performances? Are you another one of these ones who thinks they're role plays or part of extended clips which shows he's not actually a good footballer?

He... has?

And it's likely that they'd probably ignore such evidence anyways

Which is fine. But it's easier to just say you don't care how good of a talent he is, you despise him. No need to lie about his football ability otherwise.

I try to avoid contributing to this thread anymore, but what your saying doesn't make sense, those (like myself) that want Greenwood gone don't need to support our decision with anything football related, he could be peak Messi I don't care. It's seems its those that want him back that are exaggerating his talent to support their view, particularly on other social media platforms. If you look at both sides of the argument there's only one side that could stand to benefit from his footballing ability.

That's what I'm saying. If you don't want him here, that's enough. No need to downplay his talent. If he didn't do what he did, he'd still be here, and bids for him wouldn't be entertained.

Regarding the bolded, maybe some are. That happens for every player. No need to exaggerate either way (he's world class/he's rubbish) and look silly in the process

Which is a perfectly reasonable view to have. I do think it’s people in that camp who are, generally, underplaying his ability rather than the other way around though. He’s clearly immensely talented and would be playing for United if it was not for this incident. Trying to argue otherwise is a fools errand.

In any event, it is better for those who want him away from the club as soon as possible if he is playing at top level. The level of performances he has been putting in does give some prospect of receiving a decent fee for him, which ultimately benefits everyone. I didn’t expect us to have any prospect of getting a fee after the way it played out last summer.

Come on man, this is better directed at those spouting hyperbole and gushing about his performances. Yes he's talented, but really? Feck me.

Also most who don't want him back could give a flying feck how talented he is, myself included.

It is quite funny watching those complaining about the fawning over Greenwood popping up with comments going in the complete opposite direction to try and act like A) he wasn't an elite talent and B) that he isn't having a good season within context. Both the fawners and downplayers are two sides of the same coin.

You’re probably right, but I know which side of the fence I would rather fall into

I have no idea either, yet.

Yep, it's a weird thread. Those two camps are just as bemusing as the faux neutrals. It's quite a thread for the disingenuous.

It's the least of the issues in this thread, to be honest. But it's nice that you do have some lines that shouldn't be crossed.

The most impressive thing about his performance was that he showed his versatility. He played across the front three in this one match alone. Started on the right, a Getafe player got injured so he was moved up to CF to accommodate the new man, and ended the game on the left.

It was another quiet-ish game but still should've won a penalty due to his dribbling and had a shot cleared off the line. It's promising that, even when he's not that into a game in general, he still potentially pops up with game changing moments.

Just trying to understand the rules around here. Disagreeing with an admin = banned, calling posters names and idiots = fine. Noted.
Don't play that childish game. You have actively sought me out to disagree with me and we have almost exclusively disagreed, despite your neutral stance, and yet you're not banned. Could it possibly be because you broke no rules?

Obertans #1 fan.
The fact that people are in here supporting someone who has video and audio image of him beating up his partner and still posting is amazing to me. Can’t believe how forgiving the mods are.

You quoted what I said "a good season within context", the only way your point makes sense is if I said he'd destroy the league (or even if somebody said he'd destroy the league), hence asking, did I ever say that?
There was no point. It was a tongue in cheek comment regarding how much the expectations of his fans have been gradually tempered by his actual performances.

That and getting up once the plane touches down are my 2 red lines

Also can't believe how you're not a mod, you have my vote in the next election

Note to you all; don’t care what side of the fence you’re on with this issue but this thread has proven very fruitful for banning. So let that be a warning to all. Whether you heed it or not, is on you

Good run that, but overall I expected more against Villarreal, considering we saw Pellestri did against Barcelona.

I think that’s probably about max of what we’ll get. Nobody in England is touching him, nor would anyone of value in Germany. It’s either one of the Spanish bigger clubs or Italian.

Aye. Barcelona, who are so skint they are soon going to be forced to pull the final lever, trapping the farts of the players and senior administrators in bottles and selling them to the supporters on OnlyFans, are going to pay €40m for Mason Greenwood.
