A sign that having it all is not enough? Or that people can't cope with this level of fame? Imagine this cnut being your dad. A lot of victims in this case.

Too short for the crimes committed. Everyone defends tougher sentences for rapists, but when the rapist is a famous footballer/artist/etc suddenly the victims get blamed by a large chunk of society.
Once these things are not in front of you every day they can quickly become forgotten about.

It went to trial so I’d say all the evidence from both sides has been presented and cross examined.

After he served his full sentence and pays restitution to the victim and is shown to no longer be a risk to the public, then sure why not?
Similar to any other crime. Serve your time, make the victim whole as much as possible, show you're reformed in the eyes of the court, then back to your life you go

it does seem too short a sentance but seeing as they nearly always get away with this its better than nothing

I know it's very easy to condemn the individual, as we should, but is this also an indictment on the footballing environment as a whole where teenagers are idolized and earn obscene amounts of money, causing them to be able to get what they want, when they want it. I'm no psychologist, but I can imagine this having an effect on people's mindsets and even creating narcissitic tendencies.
This is in no way an excuse for him, and he rightly deserves what is coming his way, but I do wonder how these young people are coached into a healthy lifestyle, or if they are let to each to their own.

I always have some trouble with restitution in cases where it’s her word versus his. You want to be careful giving the alleged victim any financial incentive to make the accusation.
Yes, but a court of law has found him guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

The vast majority of footballers are decent citizens of society. The very few that are scum are given disproportionate attention, but I'm sure the percentage of footballers convicted of such crimes is lower compared to what you see from the general population

I suppose the issue is people will say the sentence was too short and he didn't serve an adequate amount of time.
But generally I do agree with the point. The sentencing does seem way to short for rape, although I'm not sure if there are any details of his crime out.
I'd have thought the relevant people do yes, as you know, he's been sentenced.

This right there already tells you that he’s guilty. No more evidence should be needed once he’s tried lying multiple times.
About 40% of footballers go bankrupt in retirement. There are major issues with footballers. What does being bankrupt mean when you are no longer idolized and you no longer are able to get what you want from who you want? There are several stories of footballers, also from lower leagues, who behave as if the world belongs to them. I don't sympethise with that sort of behaviour, but I can understand why that is fostered.
I also think that most footballers are like most people - nice. However, they are at a very young age given rights and freedoms that normally are very difficult to come by. There are many rape allegations concerning footballers, not just in the PL, but most are not convicted.
Seems to be the theme amongst some fans.
