One of his more brainless performances. Hardly looked up when he got the ball, but stretched the pitch well. Tactically did what was needed, lacked end product.

Poor performance on the left again. Just play him on the right where he has looked good and play Rashford in the only position he knows to play as LW.

Garnacho was awful today. As he has been pretty much every time he's played wide left lately.

Increasingly I think that playing wide right makes him a better player. He's forced to think about the game more when he's on the right and ends up making better decisions. On the left, he just turns into another Antony: Cut inside, run into traffic. Rinse, repeat.

He's not as good as he thinks he is. Maybe it's partly down to playing on the left but just so one dimensional there, he cuts inside and then runs out of ideas, it's pretty predictable.

He really should be our young, up-and-coming player who comes off the bench and starts the occasional game (much like last year.) I think he's got a great future, but he's not ready to be a consistent starter for us.

He's not. The club is desperate and we've rushed through a youth player again. Quite relieved that Mainoo is getting some rest though.

The boy needs a break. There's real talent there but he's not physically strong enough to put in a commanding performance every time he steps onto the pitch.

Ronaldo at this still was still awkward at this age with his overly elaborate stepovers and meandering runs.

To be fair, there wasn't a lot else going on around him. He had no support from his fullback or any other type of overlapping run from a midfielder, and his options in the box were Rashford who has not physicality and generally poor at making runs in the box. I would say hiim going 1v1 and having a shot was our best chance of anything happening down that side. Now why our manager set things up that way to begin with is another story all together.
I'm telling you mate, he becomes one dimensional on that wing. God knows what the coachhes are doing in training.

I tend to feel the wide men at United are expected to do endless sprints all game.

3 games a week will make that almost impossible.

Tonight wasn’t his best! but the team did enough, so let’s not over analyse, just pop him back on the right this weekend please.

This would have been his 23rd or 24th straight start. The lad is 19, I actually feel bad for him.

Barely any quality from Garnacho tonight. Had the ball enough times but couldn't find a United player in the Forest box. Very disappointing.

Easy to forget how young he is and get frustrated with his desicion making. It feels like he needs a few weeks rest, pity noone is even nearly ready to step in.

Definitely. It’s easy to forget how much of a mess the squad is in too. You’ve got City with Foden, Doku and Alverez on the bench who would all be great options for us on the left, yet we’re giving a 19 year old, twenty three starts in a row.

This lad needs a really good coach, otherwise he will be another with unfilled potential. He needs someone to coach him awareness, same with most of our players.

Probably a bit unfair but can't say he had a good season. He has been poor to average for most of it.

If he's a guaranteed starter next season, you know the squad hasn't improved at all.

He has been overplayed due to the injuries and incompetence of others.

When he isnt scoring goals he's not all that great at present. And today he didnt get much of a chance to score

He's young so plenty of time to work on making sure he has a good touch, keeping the ball and being an outlet for the team which are the areas he looks too raw for now

I think currently his career could go either way. Reminds me a bit of Januzaj (but not actually as good IMO) in that he kind of did a few great things to get a starting place but then after a season of being a starter just kind of faded in to obscurity. Some talents are like that - they perform almost beyond their abilities on adrenaline and then when the dust settles it turns out they probably aren’t good enough at the top level. Plenty of time to go of course but I can’t help thinking this is how it’s gonna go for him.

Needs to bulk up over the summer. Physical full backs easily get the better of him.

Young players are always going to have drops in form. Lest we forget he is 19. Not every player is Rooney as a teenager.

All the attention is on Rashford but he had a worse game.
He had a worse game because he didn’t score. But Rashford has more attention because he made such a mess of our most promising situations.

Oh and one of these two players is a teenager in his first full season as a first teamer, while the other is our most highly paid player at an age when he should be the best footballer he will ever be. So there’s that.

He made some incorrect (mostly too early and too central) runs today, but I guess it was a relatively novel position for him to be in (shape wasn't that different but obviously much deeper and the idea was for the middle to be left open for Rashford or Garnacho to make diagonal runs, if only to get on the end of the other one played in behind over the top).

He's a teenager and probably not played a ton of 10 men behind the ball stuff, so not shocking. Defensive effort was fine.

Exempt from criticism from me because he's 19, has had a terrific season, and was part of a team today which was able to cross the half way line like... a handful of times all game? He's not a player who will take on a whole team on his own, but he's a very good right winger and can make things happen, especially when we are... you know.. competing in the game actually and not asking him to take on the whole team from within his own half but otherwise just parking the bus (relatively poorly).

Needs to seriously bulk up, both Walker and Ake nullified him with such ease he couldn't even hold the ball. He's not as fast to be that skinny, he needs more strength to compete.

Yeah, the issue with him is that in addition to not having a big burst acceleration, he’s not one of those supremely technical talents either who maintain pressure in congested spaces. Where he excels is his doggedness and directness, but I think he needs to work on many areas to compensate for the things he doesn’t excel at. Building strength as you sah kay help as it would allow him to be assured under pressure.

If he is a touch braver he wins a penalty today. He pulled out of that chance when he went clean through.
