We will be a far better team all around when he's gone. With and without the ball. Of that there is no doubt.

Cracking goal today
Takes a special kind of player to score a goal like that and still have poor performance. That chance Bruno gave him where he head the ball on the ground, just horrible.

its always after these matches that people slate players individual performances.

fact is the manager is not at the level, and makes all of our players look worse than they have all looked into the past, at united or different teams. pointless looking at a match where the gulf in coaching and tactical knowledge is so extreme and trying to conclude anything about individual players 'IQ'. sadly basically every manager we player is better than the ten hag that showed up this season, and the fact that we have vastly superior players 75% of the time is the only thing that gives us a chance in games.

Cracking goal, rest of his performance isn’t really worth commenting on other than he could have had a hat trick.

He managed a shite game besides scoring a great goal which is essentially his career highlights

Clearly fouled. Do you not understand that clipping someone’s foot when they are sprinting tends to make them fall over?

Great goal and should have done better with a couple of other opportunities. Feeding off scraps though unsurprisingly. Looked either knackered or slightly injured when he went off so hopefully will be ok for next week.
Walker didn’t clip him? He touched him on the shoulder and Rashford immediately try to buy a freekick.

I know it's a good time to throw shit at him but can't blame him for that goal, foul or not he lost the ball at city's first set of ground. It's a wonder goal by Foden facilitated by Lindelof's soft approach
And I might be being slightly harsh with the word “directly” - we should have done much better all round, without a doubt.

However, Rashford’s first thought of going down under minimal contact from Walker is symptomatic of his mentality. If he had tried to push on and make something of the break and then lost the ball, then it would have been more tolerable. But City’s attack came directly from Rashford’s own decision making - it’s an unforced error and sadly one of many.

You can't have a footballer who refuses to engage in any physical confrontation.

Never seen someone so scared of being touched in a contact sport.

Rashford MOTM for me, ran his socks off, every first touch was spot on, created so many chances for his teammates, won the ball back so often and jumped into every 50/50... should be proud.

Should get rid in the summer with ETH.

I wonder how many goals Rashford would've had last season then, if we'd had a good manager back then. 50 at least. :)

His leg was clipped. The hand on him was when he was already off balance as a result of that initial contact. Unsurprisingly, he then fell over. Rashford obviously should be stronger in some scenarios but this was not one of them.

we were better last season im not ducking that. it proves my point in a way - these players look good in a bad system and good in a good system. the system this season is bad - what has changed is the question and i dont know, maybe the players have just lost belief in the manager as has happened many times in the past, he isn't up to the job of getting them to perform, and has added too many poor players at extreme prices.

Nailed it!
Yeah and not happy about it, obviously. Rashford has been really poor most of the times this season and this game summed him up - capable of great stuff, but only shows it at times/moments. It's like in 21/22 season where his G/A stats weren't terrible but his overall performances weren't good enough. Well done on last season as he was great and his goals brought us a lot of points but this year it's been bad. I gave him 6/10 for today's performance solely thanks to wonder goal. After that he ruined 2 great chances and ended our hopes of going away undefeated.

It’s really weird, especially the way he shirks aerial balls at times

the goal was brilliant though

Was the only person that looked like he was going to score and he did.

His record in the big games continues, despite us creating very few chances in these encounters.

We are being outplayed for 90 minutes, barely have an attack all game and people blame Rashford - who played injured - and who actually did something in attack. This thread is an embarrassment.

World class goal. Phenomenal.

Then totally destroyed by Walker.

Great goal, another awful performance. He's incredibly weak and pulls out of every duel. Him going down after being touched by Walker was downright embarrasing.

3/10 including the goal
-4/10 not including the goal.
I thought with the goal it was a 7/10. Should have done better with a couple of half chances and made a couple of other runs where he should have been played in if the pass had been better. Tracked back well, kept the organised shape and was tidy in possession in the first half but struggled to keep hold of it in the second - looked either very tired or injured before he went off.

He’s a coward. Also lazy. Worldie finish though.

I also think he got clipped but it was only because he didn't want to play the ball and end up taking a tough tackle. He avoids any physical contact. Cowardly.

The tactics were pretty simple against a superior Man City team. And those tactics were to defend deeper in numbers and transition quickly via Onana with Bruno and Rashford being pivotal in providing the cutting edge upfront. Onana and Bruno executed their side of the game plan well, and our box defending was also fine, but Rashford was the clear weak link where he lost every duel against Walker, messed up two potential goal scoring opportunities to make it 2-0, and then to compound things further he looked to fall to the ground instead of looking to score a second goal, hence turning possession over and City scoring their second goal.

It was a very poor performance and when things are going wrong and fans need someone to blame instead of their favourite player, the manager and his tactics become the scapegoat instead of the actual culprits who are creating a dysfunctional aspect within the plan.

I said during Solskjaers reign that Rashford was a serious cause of dysfunctionality in the team and it's still the case now.
