I get that light sabres are cool but the Jedi are always so overly obsessed with them.

They also die quite a lot for supposedly elite level warriors. Possibly because there's some intergalactic battle going on with space rockets and ultra powered lasers, and they're rocking about in the middle of it all with a glorified kitchen lightbulb. If they stopped waving it about like a lunatic for a sec they could probably just move the enemy into the path of their own bullets.

Why is it Luke can levitate his own spaceship around in the air yet chooses to use his legs to walk about the place like a chump instead of levitating himself? A spaceship is literally the most useless thing to levitate since its literally designed to fly around on its own.

Jedis are idiots.

There's numerous inconsistencies in SW about the Jedi's abilities.

Also, I always imagined, going by the original trilogy here, that the lightsabre was some unique , singular weapon but it seems like every fecker in the galaxy has one in their kitchen draw.

Pretty sure the point was that his ship was sunk in a swamp, in absolutely no state to fly?

He was still doing it in the new ones. Just sitting there levitating a space ship.

He probably can't even actually levitate it. Just sticks it on auto pilot and pretends.

Obi Wan let Qui-gon Jinn die because he forgot he had that special turbo running ability he used earlier in the same film.

None of them knew the emperor was a Sith Lord despite him dressing in black robes all the time and looking evil and openly plotting to overthrow democracy.

They just aren't the smartest bunch

Jedi's have no fashion sense either. Beige robes. Jesus. Get some colour into your life.

Looks really dull and generic actually. The SW saga seems to be lumbering again after the incredible Andor.

"This isn't about good or bad. This is about power, and who is allowed to use it."

Versus

"I've seen it, sir. Half measures. The take-it-slow, the wait-and-see. It's a plague on discipline. Face your men, yourself, the rest of your life, knowing you did less than everything you possibly could? I've been saying all along we need a stronger hand with these affiliated planets."

feck it, I'm rewatching Andor...

The Jedi's are the worst thing about SW.
Absolutely this.

The best thing served up by the dross-filled era of Disney's Star Wars are the none-Jedi stories - Andor, Rogue one, Mandalorian.

If they do insist on going down the tedious and overdone force sensitive route, then they could at least explore the Old Republic timeline, where back then being a Jedi or Sith was akin to a profession and they were a dime a dozen, none of this manifest destiny, chosen one trope nonsense.

Exactly. They’re the only unique thing about it, everything else is generic sci-fi. Much better places for that.

I hear ya on this. Though, I'd love to see something new, like an advanced robot who defied his limitations and is capable of learning force and is planning to engraft it into more powerful machines.

All we have now is midichlorians, which is pointless and boring.

Andor is the best Star Wars has been since the early 1980s, and it had nothing to do with Jedis or lightsabers.

That said, it doesn't bother me if this turns out bad. It'll just be another Star Wars show I don't watch and don't think about.

I'd likely have more time for Jedi's if there was so few of them (and their silly laser swords) and their special abilities were more consistent and fitted in better with continuity.
The direction and writing for Rey , though funny due to the aggressive reaction from man-children, was generally awful and Ridley got way too much flack for that.

That's another thing, the SW fanbase is horrible.

Daisy was one of the better things about the newer films. Rey the character started off interesting in the initial hour of Force Awakens and then they clearly had no idea what to do with the character. Shame really because having a female, Jedi role model is great for kids. Feel for Daisy, there's a core group of Star Wars fans that are toxic assholes.

10/10 would watch.

Since this is set in the High Republic era way farther in the past than we have seen in all the other shows and movies they should at least avoid the Skywalker family continuity stuff. Not having to walk such a tightrope of continuity should give a bit of creative freedom.

This 3 second clip invalidates pretty much everything else any Jedi has ever done. It was so unnecessary

June 4th Premiere on Disney+
This looks shit, like everything Disney has done with Star Wars (alright, first couple seasons of Mando are decent)

I always feel bad for this actress, you can tell she really poured herself into the role and was let down by godawful writing. The first few scenes with her spelunking into a crashed Star Destroyer and selling parts for food were very good.

I'll never understand why they didn't give her a double-sided lightsaber after she showed exactly how good she was with such a weapon before learning any fancy Force abilities. Would have also invalidated a bunch of the "Rey is a Mary Sue" type comments.

Sith are the most interesting thing about SW. Shame that their story is ignored in every single movie/tv show.

This was one of the weirder things that came out of the prequels. I thought Alex Guinness was dressed like that in episode 4 because he’s in the desert. Turns out all the Jedi in the galaxy used to dress like that. What’s weirder is that Obi-wan stayed dressed as a Jedi when trying to avoid people hunting Jedi.
