He was actually invisible today, but my goodness that goal was incredible. We need a new midfield next year because if we pair him up with some solid players (and I'm talking about actual midfielders, not 10s who drop deep), he will become a world beater some day

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Really poor today again, bar the goal. He's picking up more and more bad habits and he'll not develop as he should under Ten Hag. Same with Garnacho and Hojlund. These guys are being relied upon to deliver with what they have, but you can see they're not going to grow as players playing how we do.

If it's stretched and open then their natural ability shines where they can use their speed and exuberance. When it becomes more tactical and tight they don't have an idea what they need to do, or if they're doing what they're asked then it's not going to develop them as players.

Still young and won't dominate every game but that goal was the sign of a potential world class player considering the age and opposition

Thought he was alright in the first half, couple of good tackles and decent passes. He actually has the most tackles today.

A bit anonymous but not surprising, Casemiro's legs have gone and Bruno seems to run a marathon between both ends of the pitch every match. We need to get a more functional midfield next to him, but that also ties into getting a functional front 3 so that Bruno doesn't need to play ten different roles in midfield.

Yep. We absolutely need to get this manager and his tactical set up gone, solely for the development of Kobbie Mainoo.

We have a potential world class level central midfielder who displays natural qualities that you just can’t teach. We can’t let that be washed away by spending his formative years of professional development in these conditions.

Wonderful goal

But he has been sooo attacking the last few weeks. It's almost like everyone who plays in the midfield inevitably catches the bruno-bug and just floods forwards with no regard for anything behind them.

I didnt think he had a good game overall but his goal was fantastic. He wasnt the worst though. Still impressive for a player his age

Agreed, he is never going to develop playing this shocking football especially when he has a passenger next to him in Casemiro and a number 10 who is all over the pitch. He is someone who needs players around him to play off of and the majority of the time he is completely isolated.

Almost like the coach is probably instructing this given everyone does it.

The number one thing the football people in charge have to figure out is the two players to play alongside him in midfield. Get it right and we can be something again. What is clear though is Bruno and Casemiro ain't it.

It is what Ten Hag wants from that position. Why do people fail to realize that after we have seen Mount, McT and Mainoo play that role exactly the same way?

Except it doesn't work like that. It's never the match days that actually decides someone's career. If that was the case , there would never be brilliant players from teams coached badly than ETH or United.

His technique in and around the box is ridiculous. Mostly a flat game by his standards, but his ability is locked in - hasn't done a normal goal-completing action yet, from the assists to goalscoring strikes. Pure highlight reel.

Not a great display.

But that touch and finish was beautiful, love to see him celebrating before it even goes in. He just knew it was there.

It was only a general observation...not a deep dive. But I've seen plenty of games where he has taken it off the back four and play deeper. Since the Internationals I feel he is being more attacking which could be due to his growing confidence.

But I don't wanna make this into another thread bashing EtH

Again beautiful goal today!

I want to see Mainoo back as a number 6. I believe his best performances have come when he's our deepest midfielder, allowing him to use his short passing or dribbling skills to bypass the press.

Kobbie Macheda... he did well again but one of his quieter games besides the goal. At his age, still developing really quickly

Great goal, ok performance.
Thought he was quite heavy with his touches during the game. Unfortunate that we cant sensibly bed him into the side.

I think its clear he's not physically ready as yet.

But the talent is obvious. Brilliant goal.

If only we could get more possession in and around the box, we’d see a lot more of that. Hopefully we can enable that by bringing in better partners during the summer.

Spot on about Bruno. He needs to do too much work. Even had to tackle Salah late in the second half on a clean break on our 18 yard box.

Great goal. Probably could've done better overall but Liverpool are much better team than us.

Struggled but a fantastic goal, can’t wait to see him play alongside some actual decent midfielders and in a proper system.

He looked lost in the last two games.

He's asked not to play his game which isn't surprising from Ten Hag who can't creat a system that suits his most talented players.

Great goal. Rest a bit meh.

I think Mount needs to come in the first XI in his place. Ten Hag is overplaying him and running him into the ground.

Btw, is Eriksen totally defunct now?

Good with his feet as always, but I think struggled with Liverpool's press sometimes. Even so, a good all-around performance and it is always worth remembering his age and the quality of the team he plays in. Many things he does, even in an average performance, screams a quality player who has a very high ceiling.

Yes, which is why I felt the England call up was not good development either. Selfish stance but I think it's better for his long term betterment

What a goal!

He needs to work on the defensive side of the game. He will probably never become an excellent tackler nor dominant in the air and he doesn't need to, but he still needs to read the game and move better off the ball so that he can put more pressure on the opponent and pick up a few second balls. I'd also like to see him get more involved in the game, but he's still a kid playing in a chaotic system so I don't blame him for that.
