Looking for Eric
He could have saved himself by having a more pragmatic approach and he would have bought himself some time. The chaotic midfield in front of a decimated defense was his stubborn approach that has cost him his job. Feel sorry for him that this has been leaked now before the final, not well handled at all and even someone who has not done a great job deserves some respect.

can understand INEOS wanting theit own guy in there. But doesnt change the fact many of these players have downed tools once again this season and hugely contributed to some of the awful results that have led to this.

A fresh start means the same with the squad. Not everyone of them getting a clean slate. more gettin in new faces and the ones that have shown they are not good enough/ cant be trusted out
Untrue the players have shown great professionalism this season with the exception of those who have left or have been benched which is narrowly down to no more than two individuals.

Look at how the players performed under Jose its a stark contrast to the present team. They finished the season on two wins and the celebrations were telling, United would have finished nearer relegation if the players actually downed tools. It was fringe players that bailed Erik's terrible approaches out of multiple embarrassing results Mctomminay and Maguire both exemplifying this.

Is Woodward still pulling the strings?! Whether or not he’s going to get sacked, having it released before an important final is just trash and going to cause an unnecessary distraction. Not sure the “source” is that great either.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

Which players?

One of the notable differences between this season and the Ole/Rangnick season is that the players are generally still trying their best out there. Which makes it even worse on ETH that he's probably still managed to have a worse season than when they actually had basically given up and downed tools.

ETH's future playing out like this goes against the Utd DNA, and to be honest, I'm pretty ashamed right now.

The club or INEOS naturally didnt leak anything, there's nothing to gain.
Either an agent or the journalist is just trigger happy and wanting a scoop so he's making up 'sources'.
Anyway, hope it's true, Erik only has himself to blame by sticking to his naive tactics.

Sure. But it's also not that simple with players. You need a buyer. If there is no buyer, then you make use of them however you can.

Also I wouldn't say players have downed tools this season. On the odd occasion like the palace game sure, but belief is huge in football and once confidence and belief in the manager is gone, it's really hard to perform at the top level. And that first went away because of some horrendous tactics above anything else.

Would be funny if Bayern do a u-turn on Kompany and offer the gig to Ten Hag instead. Leaving Kompany to scurry back to the exotic town of Burnley to prepare for another campaign in the championship, all while tearfully deleting his spotify playlists consisting of various remixes of the champions league anthem.
Honestly, that would be the sensible thing to do. As much as I want ten hag out, he will probably do well in another league. Its funnier if they decide to go with the championship manager instead

This couldn't wait 2 days? Sunday/Monday is literally right there and would be more appropriate.
I can almost guarantee the leak isn't coming from United's end. We've reached out to four potential replacements due to Chelsea's decision to part ways with Poch. There's too many parties involved keep all this quiet.

How is this leaking now? The poor sod has to face multiple rounds of the media tomorrow with everyone asking him about how he's getting sacked. The opposition fans will be mocking him endlessly. What shite to pour on our own manager. Disgraceful.

Only Man Utd incompetence, assuming it's right, can lead to this being leaked the day before the FA cup final.

I'll wait for official confirmation before giving my complete thoughts, but at first glance the timing seems extremely poor. The pre-match interviews are going to be about this and EtH won't be able to confirm or deny it. And I can't imagine what he is going to say to the players-"Run one last time for me lads?" The club could've easily done the "gone by mutual consent at the end of the season" at the beginning of the month.

I hope EtH goes out with 2 trophies in 2 years. That's not a bad legacy to leave behind.
It may not be the club, it could be the usual media sensationalist bull shit to generate clicks and cause a distraction before the final.

Couldn't they have waited till 5 minutes after the cup-final finished?

If true, this is disgraceful from the club. We have learnt nothing from the LvG debacle. Not the biggest fan of ETH or the season we’ve had but he deserves better than to have this news leaked 24 hours before the biggest game of the season.
Agree with this. It's a shambles. Can't believe they're doing the same thing they did to LVG. Sacking him weeks ago was much more preferable to this.

The players have not downed tools this season. We've been fecking appalling but it's not been because the players have given up, maybe only Palace away did I detect a tiny bit of that.

Maguire and Mctominay who ETH tried to sell last summer for example have been instrumental in helping ETH at least survive the full season.

Agreed. Anyone cheering for this is a massive tool in my eyes. There is nothing positive about these types of leaks.

Oh I agree, Bayern would be mad to still go with this wild Kompany experiment, especially with Ten Hag now imminently available. He'd probably do well there, and already has links to the club.

A typically Manchester United way for this to break on the night before the FA Cup Final.

Yep. At least they've given him the courtesy of the final, nobody can complain.
The courtesy of being informed before a cup final - indirectly in all likelihood.

Classy.

Everyone saying he's been unlucky with injuries etc... we're on an expected points return of 44 with an expected position of 15th. That means we've had our (massive) share of luck too.

I like the timing. His legacy will now be either poor or awful depending on outcome of the final.

Was so excited when EtH was taking over. Some good football last season, but this season's been chaos. You can't not sack him

Best thing he can do now is come out and say before the game that it's his last match but that he wants to go out on a high and we're going to give everything to win the game. Will give the supporters that bit of extra motivation to try and get behind the team and see what happens.
They probably haven’t told him though.
