If he was serious about spending big and really challenging for the title he could have had Begovic (the best keeper in the league for me) Higuain, Ozil and maybe even Rooney or Suarez. That would have been a real statement, and would have given them a real chance of winning the league.

You're right that no squad is flawless - but when you have issues (esepcially in goal and upfront) you plug those gaps as soon as possible because that will cost you points. Wenger hasnt done that in my opinion - despite seemingly knowng that its an issue - hence the pursuit of Cesar and Suarez and Higuain.

The big question - if Arsenal finish 4th again, or even 3rd will the fans be happy? I suspect not, regardless of the signing of a top player in the summer.

Arsenal have been light-years away from a 1st or 2nd finish the last seasons and they have been on a down-hill road not upwards. The fans will be happy with a top 4 again as long as it is progress from last year which I suspect it will be.

Özil certainly improves their first eleven and their squad depth so without a doubt he will make them take a positive step. How well Cazorla and Özil can play together will affect it all of course like Kagawa/Rooney have failed in a similar situation.

True. But 8 goals is still 8 goals. Or if you wish to restrict goals stats to the league, then I might equally say that Arsenal have conceded 4 times as many goals as Spurs so far, despite playing at home twice.

But none of this - including your "open play" absurdity - means anything much after just 3 league games.

Will the fans be happy with top 4 again? I'm not sure - because it's arguably standing still. Their fans are used to paying top dollar for tickets, and have a very recent history of winning titles and competing with the very best on an equal footing. I think you're doing them a disservice - if I were a gooner I'd be disappointed every season we weren't maintaining a title challenge.

Ultimately time will tell - but I don't see them making a real challenge for the league and suspect once the Ozil excitement had died down, in the cold light of day when Giroud gets injured/hits a bad spell or Scezney drops a clanger the same questions will be asked of Wenger.

I wish you would actually read what posts are referring to before being a smartass. That was just an answer to how Rooney Ozil and Kagawa might have been able to fit in the same team.

Carzola plays very well in the left wing, in fact it was his natural position.

I think there are two or three players ahead of Bendtner right now. I'd also like to see JB up front though since he's really only been played on the wing in the past. I think he'd do alright with the service we'd give him. The question is can he get fully fit and be arsed enough? It's in both our interests for him to do well.

I wasn't talking about where Cazorla plays as obviously Kagawa had a great track-record on the left for Japan as well. The problem which may arise is that Cazorla and Özil both want the ball at their feet and it is no guarantee that they will click together.

It's one of the very few cases where a top footballer joins a top club and struggles to adapt to its system (Kagawa is probably another one). It's very rare though, usually they click well and I expect the same from Cazorla and Özil.

I think he didn't adapt to your system more than anything. I reckon if he had played after Keane & RvN had gone you would of seen him hit the kind of levels he was capable of.

Injured mate until December/January, I think Wenger will only use Bendtner if he was all out of strikers and midfielders who could play that position! Theo would step in for now if Giroud got injured.
