Fulham have tried him there to not very much success

I think our fans overate him
I think he has all the physical tools to be something good but his loan spells and lack of development is hindering him from establishing himself in a position.

I'd keep him as a squad option if ole is serious about developing the youth coming from the academy. He's a better option in midfield than Pereira.

It's because the guy is a powerhouse and very fast. His football ability is just not there, in a different way he's a bit like Adama Traore - carrying this reputation but never actually does anything.

I would love to be proven wrong, but i don't think he is good enough, and we will be getting mugged by signing him for 50m.

Every top team has full backs of high quality, they are more wingers these days. However with us, we have Shaw on other side, who is a defensive fullback while if we sign him being on the other side, we will have alot of trouble against parked buses. Since it will highlight his biggest weaknesses which are poor linkup play and poor crossing.

The difference between Pep first season and second was his full backs. Having Mendy and Walker made a world of difference to his side similarly the difference of liverpool having TAA and Robertson in their side to before.

Hopefully we are smart enough to go for either Cancelo or Muenier or any other Rb who is excellant going forward.

Wish we had a dog shit player like Walker tbh.
I dont. Have you actually watched him this season.? Hes been terrible by his own standards. And even worse for England.

Hes better than Young, I get that and that's why your saying that but Walker will be the next one out of City or at least benched with the next 'best thing' coming in if he doesn't improve. Pep wont stand for it.

We could probably get Cancelo or someone for a similar price, who imo is a far better fullback.

Agreed. Walker isn’t exactly the best barometer this season. AWB is better than him

I think we'll sign him, and in a year or two there will be a clamour for Laird to start over him due to Laird being better going forward.

Remember this post fellas..

It doesn't sound like good team building strategy to spend a lot on a young RB, when we already have Dalot and two prospects in O'Connor and Laird. 4 if we count Brandon Williams. Essentially that gives us 3-4 Go's at solving the RB problem and we're essentially not giving it a try. There is no overrating in this strategy. We're essentially playing the odds we strike gold after trying out 4 good RB prospects because it's obviously hard to make the step up, and prospects are nothing but chances, not guarantees.

Doesn't it make more sense to try our internal options temporarily, and if it's clear RB is still a problem, go for AWB? To me, that's what Klopp would do or any club with a proper DOF. That's how we ended up with Rashford.

Even in that case you have a Heinze vs Evra scenario and it’s good competition or you can cash in on Wan Bissaka who’d only be 24 or 25.

AWB has a route through to the England 1st team with others dropping in form and the England youth setup rate him very highly. We will see him alot more in an England shirt I'm sure.

Something tells me we should go all for it, and even by another RB.. Whatever needed to make Young far away from the starting lineup. But Really I don't know.. He looks outstanding defensively but I don't think that's what we need especially on the right side, and especially with that price tag.

Dalot has showed some glimpse of what is needed there.. Maybe just give him time next season? And use Wan Bissaka money for the CB and the DM positions.

Oh god those were the days, absolutely loved Heinze, got his name on the back of the gorgeous 06/07 shirt....then he asked to go to Liverpool........cnut.

I can see AWB playing on the right of a back 3 at points this season.

AWB - Smalling - Lindelof (only using other examples currently here)

With Dalot and Shaw as the wing backs.

My mind is blown at the lunatics in here questioning AWB, the fee, or worse yet, thinking we can do with Dalot.

There's a few reasons why you might think this.

1. We only signed him last summer. Give him a chance.
2. Let's actually get our coaches to coach and improve him, instead of giving up on him and getting a replacement already
3. He's shown promise, and our team has more holes than a swiss cheese. Why not give the RB spot to Dalot for now, while we throw that 50m into the pot and fix our gaping left and right wings? Or replace Eeyore up front? Or sign some of the 2-3 midfielders we need. We have other priorities, it's like your house being on fire then being pissed off because the windows need cleaning.

Here we are, desperate for a RB, having suffered with Ashley Young for what seems like an eternity, collectively seeing our arses about being linked with the 2nd best young RB in the league.

I don’t care what United pay. It’s their money. And I want them to sign the player they want.

But it’s mad to think how casual the idea of throwing down £50m for a player is now.

Ten years ago that bought you Kaka.

I hadn’t even heard of Win-Bissaka until a couple of months ago.

Real are paying somewhere between 45 and 50 million for Ferland Mendy, and that's a team that has Marcelo and Reguilon at that position.

spending somewhere between 45 and 50 million for a young player with a lot of upside at a position where you start Ashley freaking Young actually feels like a sound idea. It's a lot of money, but if Ole and the scouts are convinced he's their guy ... then get it over the line.

The same one some Juventus fans call lazy and erratic? He didn't have a great season by any means
