Annoyingly good signing for them. I can see us really struggling to get anything done this summer with all that's going on and I expect we'll be getting very frustrated close to the deadline.

Must be nice. Not even in the CL and still can sign players quick. What the feck are united doing?

Liverpool get players signed early. Good signing. We are nowhere with ownership in limbo.
It is what it is. Now you have a free run at players, both in terms of pool and clubs willing to sell. In 2 months, plenty are off the market and clubs dont want to sell, unless for a super high fee. Best example Anthony last summer.

IF ETH wants Mount for his work-rate, which Mac Allister also offers and is more press resistant on the ball and can play as a number 6. Then why on earth are we not going in for Mac Allister??
It's the lure of the Europa League, I guess. Or Kloppy hypnotized him with his shiny white teeth.

We are generally not fast and doing business early in the summer. Now with the ownership situation, i expect us to be even slower. Full on panic mode in August scrambling around. Hope i'm wrong.

Liverpool are absolutely rapid in the market.

Thankfully their signings have not been as high quality of late

Pricks always seem to start early.
Exactly what I thought.

Does annoy me that they're always so quick off the blocks while we spend the first few weeks on the beach

Hopefully we hear some news soon. It's frustrating to think they've got their shit together so much more than us

Not overly bothered about them signing him, he’ll improve them but he’s no world beater. Find it strange that there are reports now saying that us and arsenal wanted him, surely if either of us wanted him we would have got him? Can’t imagine why he’d choose Liverpool over us, unless he doesn’t believe he is a champions league calibre player.

1) Mac Allister has a release clause.
2) Liverpool haven't actually completed the deal yet.
3) It's June 5th.

If you're already complaining about us not moving quickly enough then you're in for a long summer. And more to the point, so is anyone who has to read that immediate negativity.

They're already signing players while we twitch our thumbs. Typical. We're in for a long summer.

Apparently he's as good as Gundogan and is exactly the same player but younger according to Liverpool fans.

Our last six" big" signings, unless I'm forgetting someone:

22/23
Gakpo, Nunez

21/22
Konate, Diaz

20/21
Jota, Thiago

I'd say that's more hit than miss. Unless you mean Salah, Mane, Van Dijk, Alisson wise "high quality", then indeed our signings have been more in line with what was expected rather than they took one or two steps forward or exceeded expectations, yeah - agreed.

I think Mac Allister will have a role similar to Wijnaldum - if he turns out to be a player in his mould, I think I'd be happy enough with that. Our midfield desperately needs reinforcements anyway so at the very least he'll provide depth, and think he'll be getting a lot of games.

He is not. But he is very similar to a young Paul Scholes.

Probably the transfer that has annoyed me the most since Sadio Mane.

I came in to post something similar. Mad that people are already complaining when the season just ended a few days ago. All signs point to us getting our business done early as well, confirmed by the athletic.

Your last summer of transfer / winter activity saw you go from quadruple challengers to falling out of the top 4. All of those signings have it all to prove and neither of them are those bang on the money you were making prior to that.

This business plus maybe even Konate and definitely Thiago is a step below from your business (as things stand) before
Players IN:
Darwin Nunez – Benfica – £85m
Fabio CarvalhoFulham – £7.7m
Calvin Ramsay – Aberdeen – £6.5m
Arthur Juventus – Loan
Cody Gakpo – PSV – £37m

I personally don’t think he’s technically great, but he’s a very good system player and say what you will about Klopp, he’s very good at developing teams and making them better than the sum of their parts. He’ll be a decent player for them but probably wouldn’t have been much better than average for us, so not sorry to have missed out on him.

The price will be reasonable if they get a good 8-10 years out of him.

Odd move going to a worse team
It’s the way of the game. Big clubs will always get the players. Caicedo will probably end up at Chelsea despite seeing how terribly Chelsea have done and how so many of his ex-colleagues have struggled going there!

To be fair he’s their second choice behind the player we are about to buy.

We have Brighton fans on this board telling us repeatedly Bloom & Co don't sell cheap and now we're hearing Mac Allister is going for 'way less' than £60m...so which is it?

Id listen to Paul Joyce who is bang on the money.
Ornstein has claimed there isn’t a release clause in the traditional sense so it’s not a case of Liverpool turning up and paying a set number

He added: “This is thought not to be a typical release clause other clubs may simply trigger, leaving the player to choose their next step, but a more complex feature that gives Brighton a say over the outcome.

“As a result, the situation is not a foregone conclusion and there is no agreement in place for Mac Allister to leave the Amex Stadium.”

The Athletic have been pretty clear on this for a while now. Everybody is getting ahead of themselves.

Good signing probably but I don't think he makes them loads better.

Mount will have a greater impact at United IMO

The Athletic article is from May 8 though, as much as I'd love the Scousers' plans to fall through it looks this is more or less done.

£45m is very good value for MacAllister. For that price the Scousers have made a very good signing. Not a world class midfielder but significantly better than any of their current options there.

The fee paid for Alexis Mac Allister could be under 45m pounds - via JacobsBen .

If that is true great deal for the scousers absolutely robbery !
If Utd sign a player, it is fee, plus add ons, plus wages, plus bonuses.

When Liverpool sign a player it is undisclosed fee. (The Liverpool fan reporters make it up).

You're either overrating MacAllister, underrating Mount or both. MacAllister might be better but it's not by that much, he isn't a Caicedo-level talent.
Possibly. I've watched both and prefer Mac Allister and think he has the potential to reach a higher level than Mount. Certainly wouldn't claim to have extensive knowledge about either player.

Also, from what I understand Mac Allister is generally more capable of playing deeper than Mount. He would seem to suit us more.

I agree with you that, It's always like this with us !

But still, for the price mentioned i think this is going to be great deal for Liverpool.
