Strikers can miss sitters like Kane did today and no one cares.
I bloody do. Honestly I think Kane could play poorly for 2 seasons and he'd still be treated as the world's best striker by England's pundits and journalists. It was only 2 or 3 months ago that there was a mini-debate of whether Kane or Ronaldo was a better finisher.

Poor Kepa
I didn't even see him until I saw your post.

The best goalkeeper is E. Martinez. He even won the Copa America. You can see his name on the graph.

Alisson is overrated if you based it on these past two seasons. Before that, he was doing quite well at Roma and then he won the CL and PL with pool. Liverpool's keepers have always been shaky and at least Alisson made them stable at that time. But now, he's looking shaky. I think Adrian deserves to play some games. So does Karius.

He is the player I was absolutely shocked with how good his performances were for Arsenal.

Then I was laughing when Arsenal sold him.

Say we go after him after looking at data - how much do you think he costs us?

Martinez would be at least 50 million.

Best goalkeeper I've ever seen in my life in 1v1 situations. His contribution with the ball at his feet and his composure is something else as well.

Can't say he's the best in the world as I don't see that much football anymore, and I think Courtois has been excellent all season as well, but he's certainly up there. Unreal player.

His presence reminds me of Schmeichel. I remember there was a period a year or two back where he was getting caught out trying to play, but that's a risk you take for basically 99℅ of the time it working

I'd say there's no better keeper than him right now overall.

His little wobble last season was hilarious, good times, but alas he scored a fecking goal to help secure CL football which they're now favourites to win and he hasn't looked back.

There's no better keeper in the world.

He's such a good keeper. No camera saves (hello Pickford!), nothing over the top - everything simple. Being a good keeper is not about fancy saves

Good distribution, too.

Think it coincided with the unfortunate loss of his dad. He had that horror game against city. He was largely pretty good though aside from the wobble last season. This season though he’s been something else.

He’s an excellent goalie. I’d still say Ederson is the more talented of the two.

I remember him pulling off a lovely overheard kick pass in the first half that almost led to a goal scoring situation, it was lovely.
Great player but it goes without saying.

?

Made me think of his assist for Salah's goal in our 2-0 victory in our title winning season. That's still an iconic moment for me, really when we got the monkey off our back and all seemed to know "this is it, we're gonna do it".

Yeah yeah that one exactly, I was sure it was gonna land off target, than it stuck to his feet so perfectly, very impressive.
He may not be as good as edwrson is with his feet but I think he has a better distribution than he does, reminds of schmeichel's driving throws that led to so many goal opportunities for us back in the good old days.
About your second point it may have been like that for you folk but it became apparent to the rest much much sooner, City simply couldn't keep up pace that season and without them no one could have really stopped you at that point :(

I forgot about that.

I felt he was kind of neck and neck with Ederson in this league in previous seasons but I don't think there's any question who the #1 keeper is now.

The only time Utd looked dangerous was when he was playing it around at the back.

You heard it here first, it will cost Liverpool soon!

I really dislike it how the modern teams play it out from the goal kick as if they were passing it about in midfield, as a middle aged football fan it seems utterly foolhardy. Contrary to everything I've watched for 40 years.

The difference these days is the best goalies are genuine capable with the ball at their feet. There was one pass that Alison made last night where I genuinely thought he played it like Glen Hoddle.

In terms of goalkeeping Alisson is better. Ederson is better on the ball but Alisson is better at most aspects of goalkeeping. Calmer in 1 v 1's, Better positioning. He is more prone maybe to switch off for a second than Ederson at times but his composure in the big moments is huge.

Agreed for the most part but I think Ederson is the better sweeper personally - Alisson can get caught out on occasion more. That said, there's a reason Alisson is the first choice for Brazil.

I'd say its 50/50 Ederson is a bit quicker so doesn't get done that way but he has a lot of moments where he comes out for no reason and misses a header etc... I love Ederson and wouldn't want a different keeper at City but City are the only team (or wherever Pep ends up) where I'd take Ederson over Alisson.

Yeah good point. City's comfort with a cohesive Pep system makes a lot of sense for someone who is perhaps more of a specialist in Ederson whose strengths are hugely magnified.

Yeah he’s realllyyy showing why we need a modern GK. He’s been doing this for 2 years now, he was a disaster last year. Spare me the stats, I have eyes.

(btw, not saying he is not better than DDG as of rn but just pointing out that there are pros and cons to everything).

I’m never fully confident with him having ball at his feet. I always think if you continuously press him he will feck up more often than u can think he can. I don’t even believe he is that good of a passer. Ederson on the other hand is amazing with the ball.

That makes no sense.

The demands on him to play the ball and sweep come from the way the manager wants to play. If he wasn't a "modern keeper" who was good on the ball and a good sweeper, he'd make more mistakes. Or not be able to do what the manager wants.

Ederson is better with the ball but Alisson is the better all-around keeper.

Impossible to win the league nowadays without a modern goalkeeper who can allow you to defend high, which in turn allows you to dominate the ball, which gives the chance creation required to rack up 90+ points.
