Irrelevant if she cheated or not, the lies aren't though. Being caught in so many lies questions everything she says. If I was in the jury I wouldn't believe a single word coming from her nor any evidence produced by her personally, how can you? Anyone can get caught in a "lie", or recollecting something wrong once or twice but this is obviously intentional perjury.

The reality is more to do with the fact she is very pro-Israel and has links to lots of individuals and organisations that lobby on Israel’s behalf. A lot of them in the guise of fighting antisemitism.
Many people on the left feel that puts her in the category of fairly right wing and conservative.
This is all the more damaging because almost all of her entire case relies on her word and she has been caught in numerous lies already. She also seems to have had tendency of lying before the trial because Depp himself accuses her several times of lying. I really don't see how she wins this cause unless she pulls something magical out of the bag.
I don't believe she will lose this in court but in the public eye she has already lost, which I think was the whole point for Depp. I remember how I thought he was scum because I believed all the allegations but after seeing this trial I have made an 180 turn.
No denying he is a heavy addict, but that was not any well kept secret anyhow, the guy seem to be very generous to the people in his life and a massively skilled actor. I liked most of his movies and hope he gets back to acting again. Shame he got dragged into the mud this hard. Guess drugs, love and personality disorders don't mix with marriage well.

I agree. I haven't followed the case closely but it seems like an act of revenge for Depp regardless of the outcome. She's been vilified in the court of popular opinion either way.
She's gone a bit mad on the old anti-Semitism though. She recently claimed most of the criticism J.K. Rowling was getting for her views on Trans people was in fact because she spoke out against anti-Semitism and James Corbyn previously.
From what I read it's notoriously hard to win a defamation case, all of these character expos are just to sow some doubt, but the only hard evidence related to the main defamation question was that Depps representative sisclosed, that Depp sanctioned a smear the other way and was present when that was leaked. Not only might he lose, he might even have to pay the $100m. But probably he won back some level of dignity in the public eye. Perhaps they will settle also at the very end.
I don't disagree that she seems to have gotten pretty carried away with the antisemitism and some of her interpretations are definitely eccentric. The problem with calling her a Tory though is it implies that she's simply a cynical actor leveraging her Jewishness to advance their political cause. She isn't a Tory and I'm not convinced that she's committed to Blairism or 'centrism' to the extent to leverage her Jewishness in a politically cynical way to advance that cause either. I think that she probably believes what she's saying about Corbyn's faction, rightly or wrongly.

I can guarantee you there's 0% chance of any of this happening. There's 0% chance she'll win her counter-claim, 0% chance she has proven $100m in damages & 0% chance they'll settle this close to the end. There's even a good chance her counter-claim won't be put before the jury as she has failed to provide any evidence that a reasonable jury could conclude defamation on Depp's part.

She did not. They agreed on what the jury instructions would be & of course they have to make instructions for the possible event that the counter-claim reaches the jury but it hasn't yet. Amber hasn't rested her case & the motion to dismiss the counter-claim can't be made until Amber rests her case. Once Amber rests, they will make a motion to dismiss & it's honestly probably more likely than not to be granted & the claim never put in front of the jury as they failed to tie Depp to the Adam Waldman tweet & so the only way the jury could find in favour of Amber is by improper inference which would not actually be legal.

Thanks. I try to do as much research as I can & feed it into this thread to help keep people informed but a lot of the time I'm just criticised by people that haven't done any research. For further clarification, they could still tie Depp to the Waldman tweets but the only way they can do that now is through Depp so they'd have to call him to the stand again on Monday & basically get him to admit that Waldman made those tweets on his behalf.

Not sure about leaks? The defamation counter-claim is about a Waldman tweet that Amber & her friends had set Depp up with regards to a specific incident where they were visited by 4 police officers. For some reason they're using that tweet to counter-sue Depp but Waldman said the tweets were his own opinion & they weren't able to show that he made them under instruction from Depp.
