Ange Postecoglou

I'm almost certain we're going to stink up the CL and probably not do that well in the league (though difficult of course to do as badly as this season or estimate when we don't even know if its gonna be the same manager next week).

Haven't the Spanish sides been brushing aside English opposition on a regular basis in European competition over the past few years, title contender or no? Think it feels difficult to say there's suddenly been a big drop off this year in comparison, to the extent that a CL level Spanish team is worse than the 16th placed PL side.

Well, the thing in the CL is that Real Madrid and Barcelona are almost always fairly strong, and Atletico Madrid have regularly had their moments too. The drop off in La Liga happens after those teams, and Sevilla, Real Sociedad, Athletic Club, Villarreal, etc. have never really done much of note at CL level.

In Ten Hag's first season we beat Sociedad, Barcelona and Betis before losing to Sevilla. This season we beat Sociedad and Athletic.

Real Madrid and Sevilla/Emery have won a disproportionate number of CLs/ELs, but I'm fairly sure that more English sides have reached the semi-finals/finals of those competitions over the past decade or so.

I watch football to be entertained, not vicariously revel in trophy wins.

When you are a Club like Spurs historically (and worse current bad League form) with so many "almost" winning situations or worse, far from that, at some point you have to battle that block by just mere drive, focus and comitmentt to WIN that particular game. It's not a great recipe on daily basis, yet many teams, clubs and NTs at some point need to to fall in such approach to the very least that one time to break the spell, even if it doesn't endure. Every lost clutch game piles on the prior one till it creates a mountain bigger then the Everest and taht it's hard to handle, it happens even with NTs or Clubs that have won a lot in their history.

Man Utd has a similar current, not historically situation and actually winning Cups recently, yet they should have played with Spurs excessive need to win at all cost and the team did the contrary.

If Ange had stuck to his all out attack with none of his creative players fit, no Maddison, Kulusevski or Bergval, which would have most likely resulted in a loss. He would be getting absolutely hammered on here and in the media, about not adapting his tactics to suit the situation. How he has no plan B, how playing with that one style will get you places in farmers leagues but not in high level competition. How Angeball has been found out, etc, etc.

He has adapted his tactics to suit the situation, won a European cup and now the narrative is he has abandoned his philosophy and become a soulless hypocrite.

Spot on. It's like he can't win when he wins.

He done what he had to.

He faced a team who are spineless in attack and knew they wouldn’t concede and they didn’t.

You can throw narratives about close calls but the end result was a clean sheet and victory.

My point was he got a result playing a way he doesn't like, just like he did in the quarter final as well.

This is fine occasionally and he showed Amorim's one dimensional tactics up for what they are, but he can't play that way week in week out, and he's already proven Ange ball doesn't work week in week out, so I don't a way forward sticking with him.

The fact that we lost against this shower of shite four times this season and lost all four is unacceptable.

We’ve played against his Spurs six times, and have drawn once and lost five times. What the actual feck.

It is their ETH moment.

At least when Ten Hag won the FA Cup he'd managed wins over Liverpool and City.

This guys got a win over Bobo Glimt, Frankfurt and the worst united side ever to win his trophy. I hope he stays because they'll remain awful.

That’s what I’m hoping because they have a better attack than most teams in the league yet finished 17th.

Levy is laughing all the way to the bank. It will be interesting to see how much backing Enormous Angelos receives this summer.

I hope they ignore the final day humiliation against Brighton, and let him stay and stink up the place next season.

I can't tell whether him coming out with statements like "it's been an outstanding season" is based on him having received assurances his job his safe, or out of desperation to convince Levy that he's actually not complete shite.

UEFA have absolutely nuked their other two Euro comps taking away the drop down. PL participants dwarf the spending of anyone else involved in both tournaments. This absolutely shite United team putting 7 past the best defense in Spain tells its own story.

With no decent teams dropping down we get that absolute disgrace of a final and guys like this thinking they have done something.

Might lump a grand on Villa with Emery + cash for this year.

Spurs are doomed until Christmas.

There’s no way Spurs are winning Europa if teams that dropped out of CL in the playoffs were directed there… that is Juventus, City, Monaco and Atalanta being added to the competition. But keeping that rule in the new format would have been very cumbersome

Maybe, but they won and you haven’t so it makes you lot look worse than them

We are worse than them, we had a horrendous season. We wouldn’t be sniffing a final with those teams in the competition either. It’s just a much easier competition to win now that you don’t have to worry about teams being relegated from CL.

Nonetheless most EL winners started their season in the EL, not the CL. It's not as if the CL dropouts were dominating the EL.

They got CL football so will have the money to spend. Ange has to stay after first trophy in 17 years and biggest trophy in decades but could be in trouble next season like ten Hag if first few months look bad.

Conte, who has won serie a five times with three different clubs and the premier league once, left in march two years ago, leaving them in 4th position.

They finished that season in 8th. Then Ange led them to 5th and now 17th. But with a europa league trophy.

Everything about that is weird. It's a bizarre life as a spurs fan.

You just reminded me of that legendary Conte press conference. Such a great watch. There is nothing like an angry Italian.
