Consider we basically neuter our left hand side in order to get Valencia in to give us width on the right I can't help but be disappointed with the offensive contribution of Valencia over the whole season. Maybe this is a problem of over-reliance on our fullbacks more than any issue with Valencia specifically, but I do think the lack of quality from wide areas is a massive issue.
Nice cross in for the goal, won't get on the stat sheet for that. However it has become comical how he won't even run into space when somebody comes near him, he'll just let the ball roll to a stop and then pass it backwards despite being a rapid beast. So frustrating

IMHO he got caught out of postion a couple of times. That left us exposed. Other than that a typical 7/10 Valencia performance.
He did. The challenge he was being praised for in the box only had to be made because he was in no man's land. A couple of times he commited when he really shouldn't have and we were left exposed down the right too. Not his best game.

He didn't get on the overlap much today but his passing was excellent.
That was down to instructions, I think. He was good today, but far from our best player. He played a little conservatively, but wisely at that.

However, I think his short range passing is really top class. Rarely gives the ball away and passes with great pace and incisiveness.

Loved he bit where he bombs forward, stops looks around and ends up just bouncing up and down stationary with the ball at his feet and still Chelsea didn't get near him.
Really confident in maintaining possession in tight spaces. Always finds a way to find a teammate somehow.

He's definitely my favourite player in the squad too right now, it's been a really top year for him and I hope he picks up the player of the season award now, very happy for him as the last year under Sir Alex and the Moyes year had him dangerously close to being left out in the cold.

There was a moment in the game where Valencia was taking his time on the ball. A Chelsea player was running towards him from 20 meters behind and half of Old Trafford screamed "man on" to warn him of this but he did nothing and lost the ball. Don't think he understood.
He had a great game apart from that.

Misread a couple of balls over the top tonight but put in another machine shift on his flank.
He made quite a few chances for Fellaini/Ibra too. And there was a few left foot crosses in there
You know you have fixture congestion when Tony gets cramp.

If Valencia had attacking quality like say a marcelo we would be top in the league.
He wastes so many chances from good positions but there is probably no full back in the world that can work up and down and out the shift in like he does
