Thought Edwin would be pragmatic.
Edwin doesn't do transfers and Ajax is being pragmatic. Deadline is coming up, Ajax don't need the money but need the player. So it's sensible for them to reject that bid

They win the league with or without him. They are never going to win CL anyhow.

United is not going to win the PL or CL, so why bother buying him?

Your logic is a bit flawed and your understanding of the word pragmatic possibly also flawed

Fecking PR Bids now?

Tinfoil hats the lot of you:lol:

What’s United gonna do if this “PR Bid” was actually accepted. Have a player they don’t actually want?:lol:

Jheeze lord almighty.

Jesus. Got lucky they didn't accept that, absolutely insane amount. If they'd wanted him that badly they should have done it much earlier in the window for less.

We’re kinda nuts we bid that and I think Ajax are kinda nuts to turn it down.

Dont get me wrong, he looks an exciting player but wow.

Be interesting to see how the player reacts to this bid being rejected. He made it clear he wants to join and if 80m is rejected then Ajax are pricing him out of a move

Ajax wouldnt have sold him for (much) less. However this 80m I suspect would have been accepted 4 weeks ago. Now closer to the end of the window Ajax will pay much more for a replacement as well and obviously since the season has started it's not really great having to fit in a replacement now. Hence why Ajax are asking more now. Nevertheless it can't be denied that this is a huge amount. I don't think Ajax will keep holding off if United persist now. I think the chances of this eventually happening are quite big.

Better hope he doesn't drop his head this year
Always a possibility. Would have been okay with Antony moving early in the season but not now.
We’re aiming for a good CL run this year and with Antony our chances increase dramatically. (A good run would be a quarter final).

I'd rather have seen us go for Antony rather than Martinez (not that I think he's a bad player, but probably not what we need right now).

But very happy this bid hasn't worked out as we can't sit here with him and Sancho for those fees and not be winning titles. That would be scandalous.

We could add a player or two as part exchange, to sweeten the deal up. Who do you need, a CB, a RB, a CM? We’ve got them all :)

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

They aren’t pricing him out - we’ll pay more. This is Martinez all over again - despite numerous links to other players we’ve come back for him two weeks later because we’re all in on him.

What about Zaniolo, Diaby from Leverkusen, Lemar, Berard, Gabriel Barbosa as other options…all left footers and cheaper.
Zaniolo would be really top i think. We definetely need a left footer RW.

The sad thing is, I see no alternative at all.

I get why United fans think 80m is too much, but as an Ajax fan, I want 100m for Antony at this point.

Alternative, Olise/Neto? I don't think they are anywhere near as good.

Anyone trying to imply he wouldn't want to come to us because of the world cup - were about to have Brazil's starting midfield pair. Probably wouldn't be a better place to be if the world cup was a consideration.

Could add that pile of shit DVB they shafted us with but doubt they'd be interested despite telling us he was mint.
I can gaurantee you DvB has more technical skills in his left foot than McFred combined. I would love to have him back.

A player that had a Ballon D’or nomination turned to absolute shit thanks to no gametime under Ole, thanks a lot.

Most of your buys are turning to shit, maybe its the club instead of the players?

Personally I think it’s on Antony now. United won’t go higher than 80m

If Antony wants the move, he’ll need to kick up a fuss

Then I’m sure United would return with the same offer and it would be accepted

We'll win the CL again before you do lad, we would be buying him from you to improve from our feeder club.

Break the bank for him. The glazers need to stump up the 90m out their own fecking pockets for once.

this is not the summer for them to be penny pinching.

What a load of brown smelly stuff.
The Dutch league is small potatoes these days. Only slightly ahead of Scotland. Players who look great there turn out to be small fry in the Prem. Depay. DvB are just 2 I could mention.

In order to win it, you first need to be in it.

At this rate you're more likely to play Championship than Champions League. :p

But don't worry, you'll get Antony. Just pay €90-100m and he's yours. We'll spend 30 of those on getting Ziyech back and improve the team in the meanwhile! :D

To be fair, none of your recent big name exports have gone on to have glittering careers elsewhere. Ziyech is unwanted at Chelsea and flopped, De Ligt failed to make waves in Serie A, De Jong is being flykicked out of Barca despite his protestations, and then there's obviously our fair Donny. Massively underwhelming roster there, given expectations.

Ole didn't play him, Ralf didn't play him. He wasn't a starter at everton and now ETH isn't starting him. That's 4 managers seeing him in training everyday and not playing him. The club is a mess but I think in this case the player must take some responsibility

None of the above barely trust to bring him on as sub, Balon D'or nomination?:lol::lol:

He wouldn't get a game at Ajax.

This attitude sucks. United are not better than Ajax. They will run rings around United at this point.
United cannot win the Mickey mouse cup in England and you scoff at the Dutch League. The state of entitled fans :houllier:

Entitled? Why?

Ajax would struggle for top 6 in England, our worst position in years.

Last time we played Ajax in a major final we walked it.

You should. We don't win the TV money lottery every year.

We will enjoy, don't worry about us.
It's not a TV money lottery, it's because we play in a decent competitive league that sells.

Not against Go Ahead Eagles and winning 8-0 with Antony taking the piss and somehow being worth 80 million.
