It was a funny interview. Out of all cup competitions and still a strong possibility to finish 2nd. Wouldn’t be that great a season. Compared to last season, yes it would be.

In fairness, it's unusal and far above the norm for Arsenal to be anywhere near the title at this stage. Nobody can say they haven't done well. They wouldn't go down in history as the most convincing winners, should they win it, but it would be well done, all things considered.
I get being positive and it is important to focus on good things but i remember reading one of our players remarks last season about just how far United had come in the last few years and that people were forgetting that when in fact, like Arsenal now, we hadn't actually won anything and we were second behind City by some distance in the league.
I think they have to bounce back and win the league this season. City and Liverpool have not been at their best, United are improving and you never know what Chelsea are going to do in the next few years. This season won't mean anything if they don't win the league.

They probably will win the league now. They're playing really well and this kind of momentum usually seems to work. It's the same as it was with Leicester, it seems inevitable after a certain point.

120 minutes on a Thursday could usually spell trouble for them in their next league game on Sunday, however they couldn't ask for a kinder fixture than Palace at home to bounce back, Palace are awful.

Still feeling bummed about the EL exit tonight, so hard to see the Silver lining. But theoretically, yes, this makes sense, with City having other priorities. Perhaps Pep's desperation to win the CL and with the question marks over the FA charges, he may be open to leaving sooner rather than later.
I just hope we don't have a wobble now after losing, as what happened when we lost to City in FA Cup. Hopefully we've earned from that and Arteta can refocus the squad back to the league.
All that mattered this week was the palace game. Last night was an unnecessary distraction that went horribly wrong. Win on Sunday and go 8 clear into the international break, is huge for our season.

Dont think they meant to turn their nose up at Europe but the fact of the matter is we probably wouldn't have won the double. Our squad isn't deep enough, but I'm sure we'll improve that over the summer. On another day we would have won the penalty shootout. Arteta's priority is clearly on the league now and probably has been for some time. I can't say I blame him - I think he managed the squad pretty well. The injuries to Tomi and Saliba within 20mins would have hurt him.
Exactly. The way some downplay the exit as if they have been winning european trophies for years. If tomorrow United get knocked out of europa , I will be gutted. No bs of ohh let us focus on top 4 crap. 5 plus years without trophies made me appreciate the league cup more and I would love if we win europa and FA cup as well.

Arsenal are a decent club but if it wasn't for Arteta I would have been ok them winning the league over City. But I cannot stand his antics around the technical area and the way he simply cannot understand that he has to stay in the technical area. I can understand that if a decision goes wrong or something you have to share with your players, you forget and then go out of the technical arfea. But this twat is always standing outside it. Its blatant disregard to the rule and by doing it he is saying I do not care!

Are there Arsenal fans out there not disappointed? I'm sure everyone is pretty down but in the end Arteta had to prioritise the league over the EL and I think he made the right choice. As for our squad depth, we're similar to United really that we probably don't have enough quality to compete on multiple fronts. And I think your squad is more expensive than ours.
If you could choose - would you prefer to win Carabao Cup and EL or the PL? I know which option I'd choose.
This was a close game, on another day we would have won the shoot out and Arteta would have looked like a genius. It didn't work out, I'm upset but my focus has been on the league for the past few weeks now. I never thought we were in for the double.
The poster who said “the only match that matters this week Palace” definitely isn’t. Big clubs go for everything they can. And I’m not suggesting arsenal didn’t but every competition not won should be a source of disappointment. Of course the league is the bigger priority but nothing is done and dusted and every possible success counts, especially given how little standing arsenal have in European competitions. Otherwise nobody would begrudge arsenal fans for caring more about league matches - just that comments like that earlier one are daft.
That needs to be corrected, but not right now, this season is about the big one, the league title.

You can’t compare winning EL to winning the league , it’s not even on the same stratosphere of achievements. Sure you’d want to win everything, but I’d take winning a throw in on Sunday over winning last night.
If it means winning league titles then so be it
I’m sure you’ll win lots of trophies for that throw in. But the Europa League is a big achievement for a club that has no achievements in European competition and has been surpassed by miles by another team in London in that regard

We’ve got a chance to win the league , for the first time in 19 years, against an absolute machine in Man City , with Pep and Haaland. We need to put everything into that.
In the future we hope to be able to challenge on all fronts, but right now, anything that can help us win the league is worth the sacrifice, so as painful as losing on pens was, probably a good thing for us this season.

You probably don’t understand how badly we want to become champions.
That's fair enough but us Arsenal fans are in Dreamland this season with where we find ourselves in the league. I've always tried to be "one game at a time" but it's getting harder not to have tunnel vision now. I don't think anyone would say that we'd realistically be in for the double with our thin and inexperienced squad.
Honestly, if we were top of the league, everyone on here would be screaming for ETH to play the kids and give up on the Europa League.
United won the EL, great achievement but no one said United are back where they belong on the back of it.

Don’t get me wrong, I was gutted that we lost last night, but the game only registered a couple of hours before it started. I even turned down a ticket to go because of train strikes, if it was a league game I’d have walked there. Losing is painful, would’ve loved to be in the draw today, but it would’ve caused us a problem in the league, so it’s the best outcome for the title race.

He was our best player in the first half by the way, that ability to dribble past players is something we ll need against teams that sit back.

To me, when you look at this keenly, it looks like a unusual season for Arsenal in the league. Leicester style.

1. Either, you've won the league then heads drop because the players have achieved beyond their dreams thus not trying anymore as they know last season everything was perfect. Luck, opponents, injuries, etc
2. City wins the league, heads drop because they question their abilities believe they are the unluckiest team ever.

Let's say Arsenal win the league this season, next season can arsenal be 6 points behind the leaders in March 2024 and have the conviction of overtaking the leaders, (be it City, Liverpool, United) and win the league again? You know it's impossible.

I think some Arsenal fans are coming across very arrogantly as they did when they lost the FA Cup game.
Everyone here appreciates how important the league is (we’ve won 20 so know better than anyone) but it seems so forced that some are pretending they are happy Arsenal went out whilst making out the club isn’t capable of playing twice a week yet.
Yep instead of having to play Thursday - Sunday and have pressure on them as City would have played on the Saturday they’ve a great chance of winning the league.
