Dortmund would give Chelsea a very tough game if they faced in the knockouts and are more than capable of knocking Chelsea out. As a matter of fact I would not be surprised at all if it happened.
Dortmund are average this season

Galatasaray and Anderlecht are poor CL teams
Arsenal are average too (this season)

Real Madrid or Chelsea would easily beat Dortmund

Bottom line is that with money Wenger is building MkIV - he should be given his 3 years to deliver on it.
Agree with some of your comments, but I don't think Koscielny is any better than Cahill, and I don't even rate Cahill that much. I don't mind on the 'giving Wenger time' line, I don't like seeing managers sacked and I think the criticism of Wenger from his own fans is a bit too much, but what would your opinion be if you dropped out of top 4?
I would fancy us all day long vs them. We would destroy them with their attacking style, in fact I think this seasons City would too.
Have you watched Dortmund much in the CL? They're not so much an attacking team as a counter attacking team, which is why they've done so well these past few years in the CL, it's a style that's very suited to the competition. They're a bit weaker this year though they've been fine in the CL (except the last game), and yeah they'd probably give this Chelsea team a tough game.

It's remarkable that he hasn't done so before, even Man Utd and Chelsea have in the last 10 years.

And in the process making you look like a right tit. Nothing new about that though.

Based on what? An unbeaten league campaign over 10 years ago? An FA cup win last season?

This seems to be the point Wenger supporters fall back on without giving any evidence of why they still owe him. People credit him for building the stadium single handily and keeping them in the top 4 throughout the "transition" well I'm sorry given the level of competition for top 4 from other teams during this "transition" I'd be surprised if they didn't make the UCL. Now i'm happy for Asnl to keep Wenger, in fact I encourage it but if I was an Asnl fan I would really want the club to show him the door as hes no longer the man to take them to the next level.
Just compare it to Rodgers CL campaign this season. It just shows you how difficult the group stages in the CL actually are.

Aaron Ramsey's goal is up there as a goal of the year contender, no doubt. It's his weaker foot. Unbelievable strike.

Have to say as well, as Liverpool exit, Arsene's guides his team through another group. Knock him all you want but they'll bloody miss that consistency when he's gone. It's not all sunshine and roses, looking forward to glory when a new manager comes in. Get a Moyes and you're subjected to a year of pain and misery.

Arsenal is a fine team with great offensive players. And Dortmund still has all these players they also had in their last 4 seasons(Kagawa back, Sahin too) besides very good new ones.
Their best eleven is among the top 8 in europe. 3rd year in a row they won their CL group. Also not that easy.
Their league form had some crazy bad months but injuries played a BIG part in that. Reus should be back for the CL KO games.
The team has the winter break. I wouldnt be shocked if they reach the CL semis. They would give any team a big fight with their best eleven.

Tonight's match sort of reminded me of the Arsenal of old...the one that used field it's reserve team in League Cup matches and tonk the opposition and be lauded as Wenger's next generation.

I dont like to laugh at others' mis-fortune, but that was brilliant.
Those sods last year were laughing at us because we had Moyes, but we got rid of that charlatan, fast.
Arsenal bosses need to decide if 4th place every year is acceptable or not. If so, keep Wenger. He will continue winning the 4th place trophy. If not, then Wenger needs to be replaced.

He's one of the reasons we've been so shit this year, he wouldn't even be starting if Wilshere was fit. You seem to be implying that he's too good for us but I can assure you that is far from the case.

Gotta love the caf footie experts. No better club to develop and then move on to a bigger stage (edit : ... than arsenal).

Ramsey has not yet hit peak form this season, but like so many other Arsenal players his game improves a lot with confidence. This year it's just not worked for him so far. He had a patch of bad form and was paired with Wilshere in midfield (those two have not yet learnt to play with each other). Ramsey kept trying tricks and Hollywood passes that clicked every time last season. That was annoying, but he has improved over the past few games. He put in a good shift and helped protect the defence in the three games we kept clean sheets and it's nice to see him back on the scoresheet. The shots that ended up in the stands are now turning into goals. His game will pick up again pretty soon.

Anyone else feel Ramsey plays much better with Arteta alongside him in midfield?

What a goal from Ramsey.

Which one of you dear Arses was it who said that he wouldn't get ahead of Wilshere if he was fit when somebody here insisted that we should get Ramsey off you?

Ah, there's nowhere as kneejerk as the caf. I wasn't the only one on here calling Ramsey poor this season but now he's scored that fantastic goal it seems many of you will start calling him the best in the league again.

Before Wilshere got injured he was playing much better than Ramsey and only a liar would say otherwise.

He seems to be at his best when Ozil is there to 'pull' players away from him. And yes, when Arteta is playing well it seems like Wenger gives Ramsey the freedom to get into the box as much as possible.

I really miss having Ozil in the team. Can't wait to have him back. Yeah last season Ozil, Arteta and Ramsey struck a great partnership. Unfortunately it's just not worked out this year due to injuries and Wenger not being able to find a balance yet. On to Newcastle then. Let's see whether we can play well in the PL.
