Impressive work by Villa. It's going to be tough for Unai to break into the top six next season, but the point of it all is try.

Would you really class it as a step up from Villarreal to villa? He was obviously who they wanted which is why they paid compensation to get him. Hopefully they don’t gain to much confidence in time to face us.

This is like a Football Manager save when you make up arbitrary challenges for your career like "manage all teams with Villa in the name"

Anyway, good appointment for them.

Great appointment and a shame we have to play Aston Billa twice in November during his new manager bounce period.

Classic. We play the twats twice in succession.

Arsenal, City and Chelsea get to play a Sacky G in free fall while we get Unai fecking Emery
Weird loser mentality. Who the fck cares what version of Villa we face, we gotta beat them every time.

Great appointment for Villa

Must have offered him a decent transfer kitty for him to take this job.

Very good move by Villa, also they have ambitious owners so not a bad move by Emery.
Which makes it strange why they went with Gerrard in the first place. Not too long ago they were being praised for managing the club excellently

I think Gerrard stock was high when he won title with Rangers and there was bit of hype. This looks a proper appointment.

This is a great appointment and they have all the ingredients to punch above their weight under him. Wolves missed a trick here if they couldn't convince him while flirting with every other choice.

Newcastle, United and Brighton is a tough set of fixtures for him before the WC break. At least 6 points is a must for your top 6 ventures @FootballHQ

I wasn't being entirely serious when I said that.

Due to the wonders of Brexit we're going to have to wait to get a work permit for EU national so Emery won't be on touchline v Newcastle. Lose that and Newcastle will go 12 points clear of us so we aren't finishing ahead of them and Newcastle still wouldn't be seen as locks to finish top 6 themselves.

What I meant by league position we've had a kind run of fixtures to start off with. We took 2 points from Bournemouth, Fulham, Forest, Leeds and West Ham. Hopefully an Emery standard manager will be capable of 8-9 points from that run in 12 months time and that's how you get in contention for 6th-7th.

Excellent appointment for Villa and great addition to the Premier League. Shame he's coming just when we're about to play them (twice) so it'll be much tougher challenge than it was supposed to be.

Wonder where he'll live. Alum rock, Nechells, Aston & Newtown are good proximity to Villa Park
