I feel this about movies loads

One for me is “law abiding citizen” - enjoyed it a lot until the last 15 minutes

The ending to cast away is bollocks too

Surely The Departed has to be up there. Brilliant movie with the laziest ending imaginable.

Not a movie, but the first two seasons of the OC were great while season 3 and 4 were laughably bad.

Mike Bassett England Manager.

Not a chance with Tonka in that kind of form that we don't go onto win the World Cup.

Leave The World Behind. 2 hours of intrigue and suspense then wallop, a nothing ending

I watched that last night and I’m split on my thoughts of the ending. Could see it coming to some degree. There’s a lot of themes running through the film so can understand why it finished the way it did.

Gone Girl (supposedly the book sets the ending much better) and Law Abiding Citizen are worst endings of all time.

I think the second Jurassic Park film Spielberg directed was decent until the third act, when it chose to fully embrace the worst parts of the 90s battiness. I've seen it described as the worst thing Spielberg ever did, and perhaps it is, but midway or 2/3 into the film, it doesn't feel that way. Also feel that the ending to 10 Cloverfield Lane has one of the most unnecessary "reveals". It had managed to balance viewer expectations/prior knowledge and actor performances right until then.

Glad you agree RE Law abiding citizen

Why did they do that ending? Who would have wanted to see that? Made no sense

Unpopular opinion. No Country for Old Men.

Leave the world behind was an anticlimactic ending.
This is probably my favourite film of all time, and I love the ending, what was it about it that you didn’t like?

Training Day immediately came to mind
That’s a good one. I liked how the good deed that Ethan Hawke did earlier in the movie turns out to be the thing that saves his life, but then everything after that becomes increasingly unbelievable which undermines the gritty, cynical realism they were going for.

Knowing with Nic Cage. A pretty enjoyable movie but the ending was ridiculous.

They killed Josh Brollin’s character off screen
I actually think it fits with the narrative of the film and helps ground it in reality. Life isn’t a movie and, sometimes, the showdown never happens. He condemned himself the moment he took the money.

His wife ends up having the showdown in what is the most impactful moment in the whole film for me. Her death and the ending monologue are really powerful and give me chills every time I go back and watch it.

Maybe controversial opinion, but The Pursuit of Happyness.

I was expecting the end to be some realisation about the importance of family, Will Smith's character realising that spending time with his son throughout the difficulty years was more valuable than money or status. But nope, in the end he becomes wealthy and lives happily ever after.

Agree 100%
But I probably would as for me it's a near perfect film.

I'm not sure. Gerard Butlers character had to win in the end and if winning so convincingly was not politically correct then they needed to give him some sort of mini victory.

I feel like we’re talking about different things. I wanted him to get away with it

I Am Legend. They used a stupid ending instead of the real ending.
They never use the real ending in any of the adaptions, and I cant for the life of me figure out why. Its a brilliant ending. At least the others had the good sense not to use the "I am Legend" title though, cos without that ending it makes zero sense.

Interstellar, although it's more like the entire second half rather than the ending

The Passion of the Christ.

Good movie but it felt like the credits should have rolled after the majestic scarecrow scene, instead of setting up a completely unrealistic sequel.

I saw the movie in 2009 or 2010 so my memory is very vague. What I do remember is that the ending was utter trash. I wanted Gerard Butler's character to win and Jamie Fox's character to lose. I don't remember that is what happened. It sorta ended with Gerard Butler being a villain and Jamie Fox being a good guy. I hated that.

Also Return of the King. I realize it may be the sourse material (haven’t read the books), but the good guys winning thanks to a bunch of ghosts was a bit of a disappointing end to what is otherwise my favorite movies of all time.

What would you have had happen? The guy getting shot in the lift was hardly lazy. And the revenge killing makes sense with the one guy knowing the truth. The “LOOK A RAT SEE” is awfully on the nose sure

The ghosts were also in the books. But good guys didn’t win at that moment in the books or the movie

it was only giving Frodo time to toss the ring (which he of course didn’t in the end)
