Told 5Live he thought we were work in progress but it was taking too long - can't argue with that.

Said when he watches United, he doesn't know how we play and agreed that we are lacking a plan - can't argue with that

His bit about degea comparing himself to neuer and asking him about it was really interesting wish he elaborated more on that

Also seems to really like the club and have a fondness for our fans

Blimey wish we had him before we actually ended up having him :(

to be fair, I'd forgotten that he got injured - and he was man enough not to have a pop at Jose

Isn’t he a United fan (when he was a young kid) - I remember seeing him wearing a United kit as a youngster in a photo when we signed him.

Edit: Yeah

Bayern gave us the broken version of a magnificent player. cnuts
Prime Schwein is in my top 3 favorite midfielders ever. Really wish we could have gotten him somewhere close to his best.

He’s a very likeable guy. A real shame we didn’t get him at his best.

The lived near the Marienplatz and the name on his plate for the door was "Eric Cantona" :D

That's the plan - nobody knows how we play so there is an element of surprise.

He wasn't even that bad for us tbh. Mourinho just used him to "make a point" and the club thought he was dispensable enough to let him.

To be fair and with the privilege of hindsight at hand I doubt the injury made much difference he was clearly past his best after having A last hurray leading his nation to world cup glory

Such shame really he was truly a generational talent and the best in world at what he did

He's spot on.

Loved seeing him in a United shirt and he showed some sparks of his brilliance on the ball despite his expiration date being well overdue.

Basically said as much saying he adored Cantona as a kid and that us and bayern are the only 2 clubs he loves playing for

Nice compliment to give for sure
Yeah would have loved us to have had him earlier in his career, what a player he could have been for us.

From reading the headlines, I thought he was talking about his time when he was (barely) playing for us, and I wasn't shocked or surprised.

Well, glad it's finally coming out and former players are calling it.

We've been in progress almost 10 years now. Glad former players are at least starting to throw shade. It's insane that other teams are never in "progress" while we are stuck in a perpetual limbo.

This. Why are so few people who are more or less connected with the club speaking out about this issue. Are they all in fear they could miss out on a potential job at the club?

This is exactly why the whole 'challenge this year, win next year' mantra doesn't make sense to me. It's like he says, you need to win now. Things change too much next season.

It's not like we are the only club making progress, while the rest of the clubs stay where they are. We have a good enough team to win things now.

Ronaldo will be a year older next year. Cavani and Pogba probably won't be there. And then people will say we need a striker and a CM to win the title. It's a never ending cycle.

Spot on analysis.

Such a shame that we brought him on when he was past his best. Could've won more trophies with him on board from the late 00s to early 10s period.

Exactly. You can be a work in progress for really no longer than 2.5 years. Let’s be real.

0-1 year, it’s not really your team but you can start implementing tactics and style. Sometimes at the cost of results.

1-2 years, kick out some dead wood and buy players more appropriate for your style of play. Continue to work with other players who can fit the style but need more practice.

2-3 years. You should be seeing a defined style and had multiple windows to buy and sell players that share the same ethos and style as your ideas.

3+, team should be playing exactly how you want. Might want a few extra squad players but starting 11 picks itself mostly.

You just don’t see that. Ole has created a squad of good players but they don’t compliment each other. This is why your stuck with the likes of McFred because a midfield 3 of Bruno, Pogba and Donny just would not work. In fact Bruno wouldn’t even excel in a 4-3-3 and this is why your tactics have become quite predictable.

Interesting so far. Was told by Murtough not to enter the dressing room under instruction by Mourinho.
