Gaming Best video game intros

Bonus points for this beauty the first 2 games are absolutely legendary everyone should play them.

The Goat still haunts me took me so long to figure it out

You know, I've heard so much about the goat in the preceding years but I don't remember having an issue with it as a kid at all.

I guess some of us are just born elite

The original Command & Conquer. I mean, sod game intros, they come well after installation - and C&C had the best installation 'video' of all time!

(I don't remember what the game intro was, but given I thought all their cut-scenes were revolutionary at the time, I imagine their intro was as well.)

It doesn’t really match up to most of the ones posted here, but one of the LOTR had film footage that switched to the game engine.

Probably being kind on it because it was a video game based on a film that was actually pretty good.

One that is as short as possible. I don’t want to play a game and have to watch a cut scene for twenty minutes before I can play the game.

I love God of War 3 intro and 1st stage of the game

How on earth has Medal of Honor frontline not been posted yet

The Last of Us 1 is the one that comes to mind. Perfect, tight way.to introduce the concept and characters while upping the stakes.

Very hard to top. The way the characters and their relationships are shown, the slow gradual start of the craziness, and then
Sarah dying, which I have to admit never fails to make me cry :( the voice acting by that girl with the squeaks, good lord!

And then capped with the music and news segments in that intro... absolute perfection, I knew I was locked in right away.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a pretty damn good intro too.

People have already mentioned some of my favorites, MGS2 and the Original Last Of US both being great. I'd add the opening Final Fantasy X. I always loved that when I was younger.

Do cinematic trailers count? If so, nothing beats WoW Classic in pure nostalgia for me:

Slightly cheating here, but if you had a PS1 in the 90s you played this demo disk. The wave of nostalgia as soon as that intro music hits.

MGS V's intro was solid as well. Walking through corridors hiding from hit squads and flame boy was epic.
