Although results were fairly dire - gifting hopeless Derby County 4 of the 11 points they finished with - he was hardly hounded out by a rabid mob. Allardyce was a Freddy Shepherd appointment. Mike Ashley dumped him at an opportune time to get Keegan in.Newcastle fans ran Allardyce out of there,
Dowie, Pulis and Phil Brown too probablyLoved Bruce as a player, seems like a very nice genuine fella as well, but this is a very uninspiring appt. The fact they wanted to talk to Big Sam at one point just shows the complete lack of ambition.I wouldn't be surprised if they spoke with Hughes, Moyes and Pardew before settling on Bruce.
He will be gone by December, and Newcastle will be gone by the end of April.
- Among the 33 managers to have managed 200 or more Premier League games, Bruce's win percentage of 28.1% (110 games in 392 games) is the second-lowest, ahead only of his former Manchester United team-mate Bryan Robson (26.8%).
Nice bloke my ar*e sh*t on Wednesday by walking out after they delayed his start by a month to allow him to go to Australia- i know it was a tribute to his dad and have no issues with that but nice blokes dont walk out on a club at the drop of a hat- 3rd time he has done it- hope he gets sacked before Christmas.Dowie, Pulis and Phil Brown too probably
And we think we have it bad.Newcastle have gone from a potential rich Sheikh takeover with Rafa as manager to....
Mike Ashley still at Newcastle, with no new players, and Steve Bruce as manager
plus potential legal dispute with Sheffield Wednesday
No need to hope, he surely will. Not cut out to be a manager and the fans dont want him.Nice bloke my ar*e sh*t on Wednesday by walking out after they delayed his start by a month to allow him to go to Australia- i know it was a tribute to his dad and have no issues with that but nice blokes dont walk out on a club at the drop of a hat- 3rd time he has done it- hope he gets sacked before Christmas.
I stand corrected. I just can't get this image out of my mind of these guys behind the dugout spewing daggers at the. manAlthough results were fairly dire - gifting hopeless Derby County 4 of the 11 points they finished with - he was hardly hounded out by a rabid mob. Allardyce's training was good for a laugh though. Imagine the joy of hearing that oaf blaring 1890's tactics at you over the PA.
Pretty sure he's not beaten Man. United once in his long managerial career.Hopefully he lasts long enough to give us 6 points this season.
Clubs reap what they sow. Bruce would be out on his arse by October if Wednesday were to start the season terribly. The last thing that managers owe clubs is loyalty.Nice bloke my ar*e sh*t on Wednesday by walking out after they delayed his start by a month to allow him to go to Australia- i know it was a tribute to his dad and have no issues with that but nice blokes dont walk out on a club at the drop of a hat- 3rd time he has done it- hope he gets sacked before Christmas.
The demands Benitez put forth, as far as I've read and know, were around the ambition of the club, improving facilities - NUFC Have some league 2 level training facilities - and having way more control over transfers, i.e. not dragging every transfer out until the last minute.OK, it's not a very exciting appointment and the whole sugar daddy takeover hasn't happened. But what I don't understand is how Benitez is totally absolved of any blame here. If it's true Bruce is getting 50m to play with in the market plus sales (which is already what, 40m?) how exactly did Benitez leave for ambitious reasons? He went to China to cash in. And he still has the respect of the Newcastle fans. I don't get it.
also Joe Kinnear, and PardewThis is somewhat reminiscent of when Newcastle appointed Steve McClaren back in 2015.
I mean this with the greatest respect, I can't even imagine what that feels like. United fans are blessed in comparison and that's saying something...The demands Benitez put forth, as far as I've read and know, were around the ambition of the club, improving facilities - NUFC Have some league 2 level training facilities - and having way more control over transfers, i.e. not dragging every transfer out until the last minute.
Also - again from what I've heard - what's unfortunately missed in the transfer kitty talk is that the 50m is the budget not only for the transfer fee of incoming but expected to fund their agent fees and salary whilst here. Ashley and Charnley's way of budgeting things is absolutely fecked.
Bruce is walking into a nightmare job and it's going to end horribly. He's absolute pants at his job as well so at least the neutrals/rivals will be entertained by our struggling. For me, I'm done with the club until Ashley fecks off or dies.
I'll never feel sorry for Newcastle fans, they deserve the misery .Shocking appointment. Sometimes it really looks like Ashley is just on a giant wind up. You could put someone in charge of Newcastle with the clear mandate to make the most illogical or ones that would antagonise the supporters the most, and they wouldn't be able to do as good a job as Ashley is doing.
You have a manager who is much loved....try to make life as difficult as possible for him, which ultimately forces him out.
Most clubs are trying to appoint progressive, fairly young managers...employ one who is unfortunately stuck in a bygone football era.
You have the option to buy the striker who has shown he is a good fit for your club and will score goals for you, for relatively very cheap deal.....let him go.
Staggering. You gotta feel sorry for Newcastle fans.
OK, fair enough, regarding how terribly the club is run. I feel for you lot. I'm still surprised Benitez went to a nothing league chasing money. The demands Benitez put forth, as far as I've read and know, were around the ambition of the club, improving facilities - NUFC Have some league 2 level training facilities - and having way more control over transfers, i.e. not dragging every transfer out until the last minute.

Plus (pedant alert) he wasn’t sacked for relegating them. It was his inability to get them going in the Championship that did for him.Yea but Ole isnt English, Ole didnt have an owner who was a target of fans for years prio appointment, Cardiff biggest sin till that moment was change color of their kits. But i get what you mean.
I agree and sometimes it is best not to rock the boat, stabilize and then start again. This is going to be an unpopular opinion but I think Bruce going to Newcastle was like us appointing Ole. Both boards have appointed someone so grateful to be there they won't rock the boat.
That of course depends if they are capable of stabilising or simply being helpless to do anything as standards continue to disappear.I agree and sometimes it is best not to rock the boat, stabilize and then start again.
