I thought he was a lot better then he has been recently. Though that's not saying much.
Hold up play for the first goal was better than anything Rashford has produced for most of this season. Considering how often Bruno gets slagged off for losing physical battles that speaks volumes.
The first touch to bring the ball under control and lay it off to Rashford after Onana's pass over the top was actually very good. The connection between Bruno and Onana was very good and it helped create a few potential big opportunities which were sadly squandered.
It was, although speaking of first-touch, there was a very poor one from a Rashford pass in the second half that ruined a rare promising attack which was a shame.
I'd still sell him for a half decent offer. Needs shifting before someone gets pissed and offers him a new contract. Moaning chunk.
Bruno are most important player who has more goal involvements than any player since he joined the league you want to loose.
He is a pure utd player never ruled out due to injury always available? (According to Ten Hagg) he is injured but is playing through the pain barrier foe utd and you think that is the type of player we don't need.
I think you are not the type of fan that we need.
I have problems with players not working and sometimes not being good enough for utd, but believe me Bruno would be in that city team more often than De Bruyne.
Setup the goal well, but all in all, he did a lot of thankless running and didn't see a lot off the ball.

Come on, he got hit in the balls. It does take a minute to pass. You are not able to walk, let alone, run.
He was much more cleaner today with his passing, nothing radical or stupidly losing possession. No wonder, this type of game suited him much better under Ole.
Probably because the ball hit him right in the nuts (or stomach, hard to tell) just a few seconds prior.

On a serious note, Bruno is not a bad player he just thrives off a style of football I really don’t think is the way forward for us. That and his age are the key reasons why he should be moved on.
With his age and the wage he's on, he won't fetch that much. Probably 30m at max? He's still one of the hardest working player and got lots of experience, League and international wise, and very rarely gets injured. And a total pro off the field. Never heard any bad thing about him. I'd rather sell Varane and Shaw, players who often injured; if the reason is to reduce wages.
If we do find someone better than him (like Mount or Amrabat?), i think he's good enough to keep around as squad player.

Fantastic performance in a false-nine position at the Etihad today, incredible player unfortunately once again let down by his team-mates.
He wasn't bad which is a positive i guess. First half I thought he was good but then faded second half.
Used the ball well yesterday, which was surprising considering his poor form this season.
Maybe he can play a more composed possession type game for us and maybe its merely all down the management that seem to give him carte blanche to do whatever he wants.

We stopped going long to him.
He was doing a weirdly decent job with the runs/long punts... which made our whole approach to the second half a mystery to me.

Well to me it seemed that we wanted to start playing out from the back (Onana played 7 balls past the half way line - with 6 succesful - vs. two in the second half - both unsuccesful) - which had its predictable outcome up against City.
I get it in the sense of wanting to be on the ball more, but its just counter-productive. Might as well gain posession in their half before we lose it.
Actually, yeah, that's a good observation. We did seem to want to be less direct. We actually had a nice spell of possession in the few minutes before their equaliser. Which prompted the standard complete mental collapse this team so often produces.
Maybe the message from ETH at half time was keep the ball, possesion is key. This resulted as you say in losing that bruno out ball and also at least 4/5 times where an incisive pass to a winger was on but the safe recycle possession option was taken.

Which would be absolutely fecking hilarious considering how poor the players he's creating for have been playing for most of this season and the abuse he's been getting in this thread.

Wouldn’t it be more hilarious because he’s been poor for long patches of the season? Are our forwards massively underperforming their xG? How many chances has he actually created for the forward line, as I can’t recall many passes to Hojlund?

EDIT: Gross and Bruno apparently top two in the league for chance creation.

Long shot for someone as talented as Bruno? No way..
You need to actually shoot to register a chance. Our attackers have been experts at running into defenders or holding onto the ball for too long this season. Yesterday's examples were more egregious than usual, but Bruno has played those chance creating passes plenty of times this season and got nothing in return stats wise.

Very sensible post. Bruno is a workhorse and great for a counter attacking team, but United should try to build a young squad with ability on the ball to dominate games, after being cursed with horrible football for so long.

Another good performance today. We desperately need some players back but he had that bit of quality in the final third today.

Agreed. Considering what he usually gets slated for, Bruno actually played like he had games under his belt today. Unlike the majority of his teammates who kicked the ball like it was made of rock.
He was at his creative best today. Shame there were no assists to show for it. From memory, it feels like he always plays well vs Everton.

Thought I'd check out his stats to see how it compares to the eye test and they're good, hopefully he's coming into a bit of form now.
