    DeGea

    Dalot Ruben Diaz Lindelof Shaw

    Fred Pogba

    Fernandes

    Rashford Martial James

Ruben Diaz and Bruno Fernandes would totally transform this team add much needed quality and get the balance right. Maybe still lacking a right winger but could wait until next year.

The team above still doesn't seem all that good.

:D year 2024 - I think we can still wait until end of season, we played so long without right winger and young talent Lingard is playing well, we should give him chance until season ends

Might have already been posted on here but these are his stats in the Liga Nos 18/19

120 shots (most in the league)

104 chances created (most from midfield)

    20 goals (most from midfield)

13 assists (2nd most in the league)

Hope we don’t sell pogba so this guy can play alongside him:drool:

Agreed :) i’d love to see a right winger come in too but financially I don’t think it would be possible.

I could of put in DeLigt and Griezmann but realistically these are the players more likely to come I think they would improve us massively.:)

Hours left until the registration window opens

Forget Sanchez and his piano, I expect a full on orchestra consisting of Fernandes, De Ligt, Wan-Bissaka, James and Ndidi playing glory glory Man Utd by this time tomorrow.

Sure they would. Portuguese posters don't believe Diaz is good enough for the step up yet others here believe players like him would transformative. Hype.

What is this based on? Only seen him a handful of times but has looked quality whenever seen him, last night he was superb, won everything, brought it out of play, his passing was good, reading of the game very good.

It's not. You'd think we were adding KDB and Sancho to our team.

Right winger should be first on the list imo! We need balance for the first time in 6 years

Ah right ok, can't say have been on any Benfica forums but he must be woeful if he won't be an upgrade on any of our current CBs with any others looking unobtainable, unless you're willing to pay 90m for Maguire.

Seems to have had a breakout season from what have read but as said, only seen him a few times.

While he started in the midfield yesterday, he's definitely not a central midfielder. He was afforded the license to roam around and comb forward as well as take shots like he often likes to, while the two defensive midfielders covered for him whenever he made a foray forward.

He's got good shot on him like we already know but his all round game is something I can't accept as a central midfielder. While he's got good cross on him, I don't even think he created enough in the game but few half chances apart from take shots. To be honest, I was actually looking at Bernardo in the game and I found Bernardo much more controlled with lots of dreamy passes compared to Fernandes. Maybe I should just accept the fact that he's not as good as Bernardo.

Still, I will rather we get a playmaker than a no 10, only if Fernandes can also play as a striker, then I will be up for his signing.

Where's the news of us signing him coming from? Do we actually have concrete news or information on this? Apparently it's appearing all over on twitter and the itks

Rabiot and Pogba are not high intensity midfielders to make the diamond work. I actually prefer Rabiot as a CDM than as a no 8 but unfortunately he doesn't like playing as one. As a no 8, I think he will require a box-box midfielder alongside him and Pogba isn't one.

Matic is also another problem. Also, the fullbacks who lack the attacking play to make the diamond work.

Also, Lindelof and Maguire. I don't think both can play together. They both lack pace.

Going by the rumors this is what we are planning. Also hearing Partey could come in.

So either , as usual we are just buying players with no plan or all are just rumors.

FBs - I am not keen on AWB either. We should upgrade both Shaw and Young with excellent WBs.

I think rabiot can play as a 8 as he doesn't like to be positionally constrained. Also Bruno at 8 on the right and pogba at 10 makes more sense to me due to pogba's limitations. Pogba looked best in a free role.

Partey is a high intensity midfielder (although I would rather we have a much more technical midfielder), hence he could play alongside Rabiot but then, we also need a no 6. There is also Pogba. While I think Rabiot is more intelligent and defensively solid than Pogba, both actually require a high intensity midfielder alongside them in the midfield. More reason I would love if Rabiot sit back to make way for another midfielder alongside Pogba but he doesn't like playing as a CDM.

The fullbacks is another issue. Likewise the central defence. Both Maguire and Lindelof need a pacy partner to cover for them.

A combination of pogba and Bruno in midfield will fail spectacularly in the absence of a positionally brilliant defensive midfielder.

Really not sure matic and mctominay are up to the task

Rabiot can but not with the intensity needed in a diamond midfield. Bruno isn't a midfielder. Bruno is better where he is, at the tip of the diamond. Rabiot and Bruno would be competing for Pogba's place in the midfield as no 8 and in the no 10 role.

Matic should be backup and nothing else. We badly need a CDM and a forward if we’re to do anything of note this season, yet all the press are fixated on RB, CB and CM/AM.

IMO we will have to play 4-4-2 with a pure DM and a workhorse defensive B2B covering for Pogba and Bruno, that’s the only way we can accommodate them both in the same team. Dier and Rabiot would suffice I think

Bruno may be better at 10 but I think it's Herrera 's right side of midfield 3 is where we will use him. Pogba is useless other than being played in a 10. His attributes suit being a 10 the way he played for a month after Jose sacking. He sulked after asked to move deep to cover for herrera's absence.

That's the position he is happy playing, and thats where we should put him if we want him to be at his best and actually stay at this club and not run his contract down for a Madrid move.

Rabiot and Bruno on either side as 8 protected by a dynamic cdm makes sense to me. I won't call it a diamond but more like a 4312, with pogba having a free role as a 10. James can come in as a sub and have a go at defenders later on in the match changing the system.

    I totally agree with that.

The area in front of central defence is by far our biggest weakness. That includes any of the shortcomings in attack that get brought up every 2 minutes on here.

Matic, Lingard, Jones, Young these are the names irritates me somehow. Your team look good except Matic option as he will slow down the attacks

Bruno already got deployed this way in a diamond setup against Switzerland and wasn't up for it. He's at his best either as a no 10 or with the license to roam around and foray forward while the defensive midfielders cover for for him in a 433 setup like he did against Netherland.

Bruno and Pogba are cut from the same cloth. They loves to roam either as a no 10 or in the midfield. They won't work as a no 8 in a diamond midfield.

Bruno doesn't want control the midfield without the ball and press from the front or work defensively to win the ball in the middle? Even if he is asked to do so? Only one of them has to play as a 10 and pogba has shown he lacks attitude to play deeper. It's has to be Bruno playing on the right side of midfield or play on the bench option or sub option to pogba.
